But as time goes on, it's probably going to become a more legitimate and cost effective decision by Harmony Gold's standards, won't it?

Thank goodness, Avatar was entertaining and everything, but definitely not Oscar worthy.

The All Things Video Games Thread!
Einherjar replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Sometimes I think Sega needs to start the Sonic franchise from scratch. -
Not necessarily, as a guy called ROBOTECHFANPLUS tried to do, anything can be edited to become Robotech. There are a lot of shows from the 80s that people forgot about or don't care enough that HG could put the same effort as before to make it part of the franchise. How people would react to it , however, is a different story.

So about Sonic 4, nostalgic or repetitive? http://www.sonicretro.org/wp-content/uploa...c4newscreen.jpg http://www.wizard-alcove.net/index.php?strip_id=435 -
Dammit, they're no longer interchangeable. Humanity is flourishing and competent in Macross, and they forget very important lessons and struggle to survive in Robotech. EDIT: Oh, ok, then their official time-line is pretty easy by comparison thanks to retcons. It's: Robotech, the 85 episodes Shadow Chronicles
-
No, just something called the Macross Fan Club. Open up the Home main menu, go to the Club section and type by name Macross. I was surprised it exists, and even talked about here a while ago. But they don't do anything.
-
Let's be honest then, it's not really a Robotech podcast. It's just a major topic of the show, but the spotlight is always on Doug. It's not The Robotech Fan, it's the Dougbendo Rage Show #1. Then there's the Dougbendo Rage Show #2 and Microsoft Sam's Dramatic Readings from Robotech.

Wait a minute here... he's still relevant in any of this? Of course he thinks he has more lessoners, people can't anonymously pop into the live show. They actually have to reveal themselves somehow and, *gasp* download the show just to find out what the heck happened.
-
Then I guess it was a case of HG trying to salvage material from Mospeada to make Robotech a bigger story, again.
-
So what made Wolfe so important in the first place? Ignore the future plans HG had for the character and etc., only consider when the show was first going on.
-
They need to give people more incentive to invest more on the communicating part of Home. I hate that anonymous crap, and the limited socializing from areas like the Club function. The Macross Fan Club I joined is always empty, and I only met the leader once online.

I was too, I-III sucks. As a cold businessman and mercenary for profit, that sounds like enough characterization with a universe filled with a lot of aliens, the Force, and etc. That's subtle and mysterious at the same time. And he served his purpose. Unfortunately, everyone wanted to know so much about him that it ruined the character. Maybe he should have stayed dead. But almost every new character they made for Robotech was pretty much a one episode wonder. They were given the spotlight, or just given an arbitrary interesting story, to make their on screen appearance more important. If HG could, they probably would have made every person who appeared on screen important enough for a story to generate content, especially these days when they really can't do anything new animation-wise.
-
I disagree, Boba Fett had more characterization from just the movies, before all the other material about him was shoehorned in. Wolfe's treatment was closer to the even more minor characters in the Star Wars universe, one scene wonders like Ponda Baba, the guy that got his arm cut off by Obi-Wan. His was more forced by people for content, not popularity. He really didn't stand out enough to justify it.
-
I was bummed out that Tactics wasn't represented at all in Dissidia. Though, when looking at the storyline for the game, adding something from it might not work well.
-
Hell, like Jonathan Wolfe was important, period. Just another character put into a crappy situation and selling out.

There must be something wrong with my eyes, because I really can't see a difference between the 360 and PS3 versions of FXIII from FMV screens. At least nothing significantly different between the two. http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/03/06/f...ive-comparison/ (As always, NSFW.) -
Define human civilization in the Next Generation and Shadow Saga eras. Only the novels and comic books gave a hint that there was anything beyond the military when it came to a future society. Earth's is devastated thanks to Mospeada footage and Mars' is vaguely defined except for having a big enough population to wastefully sacrifice lives in taking back Earth, again, thanks to Mospeada. As for the "colony ship," it brings back memories of the unfortunate consequences of Rick Hunter willing to nuke the Earth if they couldn't get it back. Despite some sort of Mars society, they were prepared to abandon Earth to start all over if the last attempt failed as well.
-
Gubaba might be able to answer this with his work on the Macross novels, but what exactly happened in the two years between episode 26 and 27 of the original series?
-
I think in making Rick Hunter go up in rank to become an admiral and being all too important to the Robotech universe, they missed a point Claudia was trying to make with Roy near the end of the show; don't devote your entire life to the military, live a little or try to start a family while you can. Of course, they tried to lighten the mood by getting Rick and Lisa married in the Sentinels, but afterward it was business as usual leading what would probably be called a suicide mission. They also ended up with a kid, but talk about priorities for the greater good of humanity. By the way, with the stressful situation Earth was in at the time, did anyone else think the wedding shown during the Sentinels was too extravagant? But the Shadow Saga completely missed that point, especially by making both their lives potentially miserable up to their elder years. HG couldn't even throw them a bone with a kid.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
Einherjar replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
From a promise I made myself a while back, I'm trying to get through Sonic X, the Japanese version. I still think SatAM was better, hands down. -
Of the Playstation era Final Fantasies, my order of preference is IX, VII, then VIII. I still bought the remakes of I, II, IV, V, and VI that were released on the system as well, despite the loading problems. And since IV was packaged with Chrono Trigger, it was good times.

Imagine, give or take 85 weeks from now, Rick Hunter and the entire franchise will be stuck in the same position they've been for the last 3-25 years. This IS End of the Circle!
-
I'll be honest, I was born last week 25 years ago. I was probably chillin' in my crib when the show came on. Unfortunately, I only got to experience the fallout from the show in the years later. Hmm, if you're being technical about the whole thing, that would make me a real 85er.
