I know I should probably not say it for fear of being wrong later... and having my head blown off, but I will... who was the chump that said yamato would never release the max 1S? I think people underestimate the power of repaints for a mass production toy company. Ill be getting it for sure!
-
Oh, and of course 50% off 1/48 max and Miria super valks...
-
Hey all Off topic - HLJ is having a sale on a few macross items - bout 20% off VF-1A and DYRL strike parts (in set or separately)... And a few other things like SV-51s. Thought you may want to know. I so feel like I work for them! Just throwing it out there. Feel free to throw it right back.

Sweet! I always liked the 1D
-
Im pretty sure the defender can be ordered from HLJ http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT09026

Very sweet - That weathering is most sweet - it has that ingrained, but clean, look... at least from the pictures. Brilliant

Yeah all of my 1/60 VF-1 V 2.0's are great - even if my Roy (and only Roy) has a shoulder crack - its really not all that bad. Also HLJ are sending me a replacement part for free (zang!) - they do very good work, would recommend them everytime. My VF-0S (Version 1 bought when first released) is floppy in the left arm, but I reckon it is also awesome - and with the new fixes I am sure it will be great! It also looks so very sweet. If you have the money get both! But if you HAVE to only get 1 I would say grab the Roy 1/60 1S super/strike when they are restocked from a good supplier. I am a HUGE fan. Heaps of accessories, iconic design, sturdy all in all apart from the right shoulder - which should be fixed soon. 1/60 VF-1, do it!
-
Impressive... Most impressive
-
Indeed! I think there was mention of the Roy VF-1S being rereleased later this month (HLJ may already have them, but not sure). But I may be wrong
-
Two strike cannons? insanely swept back gun-bunny ear things?! Are you mad! Indeed - that 1/60 V 2.0 1S is just awesome
-
Negative! Go for it! As for reply to Graham - HLJ has the pure VF-1J in stock as of today, super parts also available separately. I feel like a salesman!
-
I know this is back to some news not related to new toys - but FYI, the early bird for the Hikaru 1S just came up at HLJ - cancel and reorder! I just did mine! mwahaha

Practicality was never on my mind. I just like the look. I'd imagine in space anything could be stealth if they took all those flight lights off them. Also if they actually used those strike parts in the atmosphere, judging by the way the jet was designed, theyd probably break up in the atmosphere, but that just ruins the fun of it! RuskiiVFaussie - you enjoy that valk as much as I've enjoyed my VF-1S! Also hope that them arms won't fall apart on you - but seeing as the 1A and 1J I have dont seem to have that problem, you're prolly on easy street! and oh what a street it is!
-
I don't think there will be an early bird option - its due out in december - I just think they dont want to sacrifice ANY money on this bad boy - they would be pre-sold out in 5 minutes! I'll probably pass on the 1S hikaru strike - already have the 1A and S; is it worth it to fork out $250 for a red stripe? sigh... probably. Will debate this until its sold out then I'll regret it. But I'll have saved money... then the 1D and 1A low vis with strike parts (please?) will come out and I'll be laughing... LAUGHING!
-
Hey guys, thought you might like to know HLJ has the VF-1S Hikaru strike valk up on its system. Its out of stock at this moment, but I assume a prerder will go up soon!
-
I think the only person that would know would be a guy in the yamato design/problem fix area - the only think I noticed was that the plastic felt different in my hands, but it could be a paint coating - so unsure. Maybe in a month after 25 transformations will I be able to tell you if there is a problem!
-
Well, I got my VF-1J super the other day - absolutely stoked! it's awesome! no crack as of yet to the arm part - as has now happened with VF-1S. The plastic does feel a little different, but I have a feeling it may simply be a paint application (but not sure!). The pin seems to be the same as my 1S, but will let everyone know about the arm if anything does happen. I must say I really think I prefer the TV fast packs to the DYRL ones - they just seem to go alot better with the color scheme on the 1S (yes and maybe the 1J, but I reckon the 1J looks better without them!!!) - personal preference. On a related note, the ball jointed right arm on the 1J is a little tight - I think theyve done this to most of the valks because they dont want complaints about floppiness! Its not terrible, but it is tighter than on my 1S (but then, that joint isnt as tight as other peoples complaints...)

Depending on the supplier you can normally get replacement parts I think. I go through HLJ, and they are trying to get a hold of a replacement part for me, though I dont know how you would go about replacing it on this valk! (the shoulder swing thing). I feel your pain with respect to Yamato though - the other day I sort of snapped one of the nozzles off the foot on my VF-1S. Easily fixable fortunately - I think there was only a light glue on mine out of the factory - and honestly now the valk is a little sturdier. I am almost thinking the 1/48's (aside from the missiles and lack of tampo printing) are a better built toy - perhaps the size makes little things sturdier. Yes I am aware of the floppiness when transforming, but when in the modes themselves the thing was a gem (all of the ones I own). Personally, I will still get the 1/60s - the extra bit of cheapness and some of the nicer details (like the UV cockpit, tampo printing, beautiful modes etc). I just hope they fix the 1/60 Focker shoulders.
-
Yeah, well now that I have transformed my valks (particularly the 1S cause its my fave) a few times that tell tale crack has appeared (and the foot/front left jet protrusion thing) on my valk somehow managed to become dislodged... Glue must have cracked or something, cause its not snapping back into place. Nothing lasts forever; I say enjoy it while it lasts
-
THough I dont have either of them, if it were me, I'd probably get the 1/48 Max: the plane may be floppy during transformations, but at least it does not break (VF-1S shoulders, etc). All of my 1/48 experiences have been positive, whereas the new 1/60 not so much. The reflex missiles are always a bit loose (though I got lucky with my stealth valk), but the detailing is superb. The fact that you also have millia is also a big plus.
-
I think the chestplate/cockput through said chestpiece is a result of them attempting to keep good fighter mode proportions while keeping the nosecone not so far down the legs for battroid mode. If that makes any sense at all. I agree with ruskiiVFaussie - comparison from this angle is not that great. In person side by side they are both great... From any other angle.
-
yeah, i say ill just get the regular, but in the end it will prolly be with the SSP's also!
-
Fair call(s) - it's all subjective in the final analysis... When you say you own 3, do u already have the 1J? Ill prolly get hikaru 1S without strike pack - just put the 1A strike pack on him! that or simply switch the 1A head with FOckers 1S! (yes yellow stripe may or may not hurt it)...
-
Do you own a V2.0? I dont think the neck and collarbone thing is all that bad in person (barely noticed it until ppl started pointing it out!!!) - I actually think the relative valley on the 1/48 is too deep... Its funny though, comparing the 1/48s to the 1/60s side by side, I almost prefer the 1/48s better, design wise, in all modes. The hugeness of them just screams awesome, among other things. That and they seem not to be as breakable, ironically, or scuffable. Maybe Ive just been blessed with the good stuff! Still, 1/60s are that much cheaper... and they all fit into the cupboard better... and the missiles stay on! side note (which is back on track) - that VF-1S hikaru looks pretty good, but ill stay with the focker everytime. Are we sure its not exclusive?

Hoho, you must have been reading my mind! Black Tv version, glove hands, lighter fast packs... fixed shoulders... What a lifestyle!
