Benson is correct. However if you meant a VF-11 more generically rather than the B variant specifically, Yamato also released an 11C from Macross 7.

I don't know. I don't think another picture thread is needed and I think just a handful of people in the forums actually do any weathering to their valk toys (or at least the ones who share them) so there probably wouldn't be many posts in there. At least here, people can just post what they want. With that said, here's my second to last VF-1 I have acquired and likely will not be getting more in the foreseeable future unless Arcadia puts out some custom schemes I want. My last VF-1 is a VF-1J kit which I still haven't decided what scheme to paint it with. My vermillion squadron is finally complete after putting off getting Kakizaki's TV 1A for so long. Well no, because they wanted to send the one I had to Bandai probably too get back a replacement. They would still get the same result if they took out a piece from one they had on stock and sent that piece to me while sending Bandai the toy they took the piece from. It would effectively be the same thing. They'd get a replacement back from Bandai and could sell that. If I did it the way they wanted, they would still need to ship the whole toy instead of just a tiny piece. Unless they expect me to also pay for shipping back to me, in which case, doubly screw that. That's why I asked them to take a piece from existing stock and send THAT one back to Bandai instead.

I tried to get NY to send me replacement piece for the missing under cockpit part. They wanted me to ship the whole thing back so they could send it to Bandai. I asked them to just open up one of the ones they still had on stock and take out the piece from there and ship to me that piece and send Bandai that you instead. It seemed reasonable to me since it would be cheaper for both NY and me if they did that, but they were unwilling to budge. Bandai dropped the ball here but at the same time I'm not happy with NY's customer service either. I'm debating of I should cancel my remaining pre-orders and risk maybe not being able to get them from hlj on release day. It's not out of spite, but rather the fact that I'm paying their higher prices and yet if those future items also have issues, I'll have no reasonable course of resolution.

Congrats on getting the 1D. I originally didn't plan on getting the 1/60 v2's, but since the two seaters were unique to that line, that was the first of them that I got and that eventually sold me on the rest of the VF-1 v2's.

I forget if they consistently draw it in the TV show or not, but it's in the line art. Sorry! ... err... you're welcome? Yep, I sure do. I've probably got 85-90% of my collection weathered now. I like some consistency in my displays. I just finished up my TV Kakizaki to complete my Vermillion Squadron a couple days ago. I'll be putting pics of that plus the squadron up soon. -
It's also differently shaped for each variant. They fold up to give the head and lasers clearance when transforming it.

They come unmarked so I cut out the UN Spacy kites from the VF-17 sticker sheet since the super pack didn't come with any. I took some markings from other sticker sheets as well. -
High resolution pictures of V2 VT-1 Pill Head and Manual
MacrossJunkie replied to gwfalcon's topic in Toys
I assume you only need the parts of the manual that are specific to the VT-1? I can scan the pages from mine. Edit: Okay. Here they are. Hope this is what you're looking for. I wasn't sure how high resolution you wanted. I scanned in at 300 dpi. VT-1 head shots.zip It won't let me attach the scanned pdf I made despite it being under the max single file size limit, so I'm going to throw it in my dropbox and leave it there for the next week or two. I bought this set for Alto's as well. I like the gunmetal color instead of the light blue on Alto's. I just need to repaint the yellow to red and I guess also print sms decals for it. I'm just not sure my printer is up to the task.I wish there were some existing decals that I could just buy.

I got the VF-17 super pack and did a quickie weathering job on it. It definitely looks much better in person than it did in the photos I've seen of it up until now. -
Heh, I just ordered a set of the single pair a few days ago. I'm wondering if I should have gotten the 5 pair instead in case it breaks. I just couldn't stand the stupid pvc head lasers anymore. PVC just doesn't work well. The ball the tiny little rod attached to it are soft and twisty and so when you try to move the head lasers, the ball part mostly sticks and it just twists the rod and slowly returns back to its original position. It makes it frustrating trying to get them to stay down in fighter mode. I dislike the ones for the 25F too. It's also off colored to boot. I don't understand why they didn't include ABS replacements for the 29 and 25F like they did with the V1 armored 25S before it and the renewal 25S and G and the 171's after.

I can't say I have, but Mr. Hobby is a very good brand. I've tried Tamiya's and Testor's and didn't like them. Also, I heard they have a tendency to yellow after a while. After that, I switched to using Future with the Tamiya flat base. -

Thanks. Yes, you certainly can. (no pun intended) If you haven't used the spray can stuff before, you'll want to try it out on a plastic piece first to see how it comes out. Also cautious with the lacquer types. Some can react with/melt the plastic or paint on the toy. -
That's a great custom. The tail flap accents are a nice touch that makes the paint scheme for me.

Here's the rest of my VF-171 set. And here's my totally make-shift setup: I use whatever lamps I can find in the house. I requisitioned two wall lamps and a desk lamp and fitted them with 5500k color temp flourescent bulbs for lighting that's close to sunlight and set my camera's white balance to "Direct Sunlight". Soft white bulbs are too yellowish. I stacked 3 monitor boxes as my makeshift table and use a fold away light box with a black velvety backdrop. The camera shown is a Nikon D7000 on a Manfrotto tripod. The nice part though is it all stacks or folds away neatly and I just stick it in a closet when I'm done. -

I mixed some Tamiya flat base with Future and sprayed on several layers via airbrush. This time around, I did 98% of the weathering just freehand via airbrush and only used the snow from the Tamiya kit to do some highlights and fade on the black areas like the piece under the cockpit or the black intake vents. It sounds like yours might be dried up if the brush end is not picking it up. It ought to be powdery and ideally a tiny bit damp. Some of the other colors I have were dried and hard like clay/chalk which makes them impossible to use. I haven't tried this before, but you could maybe try lightly misting the powder with some water from your airbrush and see if that helps the brush pick up the powder better. You could also try putting your finger over top the brush hairs to apply pressure while trying to get some powder on the brush. You don't really need much on the brush. A little bit goes a long way for me. Have you also done a coat of Future before using the Tamiya kit? It really helps. The order I did things was weathering via airbrush, clear coat with Future, apply powder from Tamiya weathering kit, clearcoat with Future mixed with Tamiya flat base. I plan on taking more pics of my 171 in the other modes tonight, so I'll include some pics of my setup for you to laugh at. You'd be surprised how haphazard and improvised it is. -
Man, that sucks. I'm in the same boat with I think the same missing piece. I emailed NY about it and am waiting to hear back about it.

I weathered and flat coated my second 171 which I got from HLJ. Still hoping I can get a fix for the one I got from NY. Pics of other modes coming later. Waiting for the coat to dry better before I try transforming it. I've already had to fix it several times with all the parts scraping. -
There are some other easy identifiers without having to know what the v2 looks like or comparing proportions or markings. The lights(?) on the front of the leg armors are just painted white instead of being clear plastic like on the 1/48 and the 1/60 v2. The leg armors also have a seam line running down the middle of the front. The arm armors have solid black dashed lines molded into the plastic itself that run above the red section whereas the v2 doesn't have any and are done with stickers instead. The shoulder clip on adapter for the shoulder armor for the v1 is 4 sided while the v2 is 5 sided in shape.

Differences between SDF-1 tv and dyrl
MacrossJunkie replied to Swooshiex's topic in Movies and TV Series
The right arm on the TV version was a submersible assault ship called the Daedalus, famous for the Daedalus attack where it would punch into an enemy vessel and unleash hell. The ARMDs (01 and 02) in the tv series were indeed just stand alone and while they did well against the initial Zentradi attack, they were destroyed in that fight. They were intended to dock with the SDF-1 though.
