Good pics, alchemo! Just got done with weathering my RVF-25 and giving it a matte coat. Here's fighter pics for now. Other modes coming later. Older pic with RVF-25 shopped in because I'm lazy and didn't want to have to transform everything to take the shot SMS Skull Squadron -
Nice to see a full color rendering of the battroid mode. The gunpod looks like it's stored perpendicular to the shield. I couldn't tell from the CAD drawings, but is it attached to the shield or the back of the arm? I'm going to have to get two when it comes out. Not sure what I'll do with my old ones when I do. Maybe just toss them in the trash (kidding! ...maybe). I never liked the sculpt of the original 1/60. There were just too many things that bothered me about it in fighter and battroid mode. GERWALK was probably its best (looking) mode, imo.

Is it? In the close ups, like the first and second pic, I don't see any panel lining. I think maybe it just looks that way because the panel lines are very visible with the color used in conjunction with the lighting.

You should file down the clips on the leg side a little so that you can pop the shoulders off more easily without needing so much effort or worrying something will break. I did that and afterwards, I could pop it off with my fingers instead of having to wedge a screwdriver in there. -
Huh... that's strange. None of the stand adapters I have have that extra set of pegs except for one which I assume came with the full armor set and I have all renewals. I'll have to search around my pile of parts some more. Edit: Okay, after looking back at my pics, my VF-25G came with the adapter that had that extra clip, but my 25F and S didn't. How does the peg block the tail fins? Or do you mean that flap that opens up so you can put the hands in? If that, then you just need to put the extension peg in the right way. One side has an indentation that allows for the flap to be opened fully.

So it still stands that the adapters that came with the renewals haven't changed, other than some height differences to accommodate certain features. The only real difference I see with stand that comes with the RVF is that the attachment point for the horizontal arm position has been moved back more towards the middle so as not to interfere with the ELINT fin. Same except the gunpod was super greasy for mine. On another note, is the radome on anyone else's angled a degree or two to the right? Maybe I'm OCD, but it drives me nuts when I look at it head on. When the wings are folded back, the radome touches the right attachment pylon while there is space between the radome and the left pylon. It also makes the head antennas look uneven when it really is the radome that is.

Which color? it's 5 different shades of green Are you sure? None of my renewals have adapters that plug into the area denoted by left-most circle.

I was doing some weathering on my RVF-25 (about 40% done) and decided to take some comparison shots with the version 1 in the meantime. It's just such a vast improvement.

I'm guessing that the destroids are part of G3 also. I think G3 was also when they changed over to the current thinner stickers rather than the multi layer ones the 1/48s, M+ (minus VF-11), and Zero line used.
-
On another note, I love that they paid attention to detail to the radome with regard to the detailed line art. Even the insides of the radome's "arms" show detailing and a bit of paint application when extended. It's too bad they didn't give the ELINT fin the same treatment.

I noticed that the RVF-25 came with the same type of ball jointed thumb that the VF-171 did. I wonder if the re-issue 25F and subsequent VF-25 re-issues will come with those too or not.

I just picked mine up from the post office on my way home from work and immediately opened, inspected and transformed it to make sure there weren't any problems with it. I'm happy to say that my copy is problem free. I was pleasantly surprised that the head antennae were made of plastic instead of pvc. Joints are tight enough to hold poses, No cracks in any of the hinges I could find or missing parts. The color matches between the various plastic parts and there's only a slight mismatch with the painted die-cast areas which isn't really too noticeable and nowhere near the obvious shade differences on the version 1. I'm very happy with this one. The only real downside for me is all the extra connector pieces for the gunpod in fighter and the shield in battroid. At least the shield connector can remain permanently attached for fighter mode as well.

I love the color. Hopefully I can snag one at HLJ. It's too risky for me to get Bandai stuff from anywhere else.
-
Wow, this is great news. Can't wait for actual pictures.

I traced with a green line along where there is a slight bend in the plastic and circled the white stress mark. If I take it off and look on the inside, there is a crack on the inside of the piece. Edit: just took a pic with the piece taken apart. And here is the crack shown visibly.

I don't think they're refunding the cost of shipping it back and Bandai could just as easily send them another one with problems which I won't find out until I get it. This could be avoided if they just sent individual parts. I'm not willing to risk this becoming a money pit where I have to keep sending it back over and over again. Their (Bandai's) policy (and their QC) sucks.

I paid for mine and have my fingers crossed. Hopefully I don't regret not cancelling my order. My experience with NY and Bandai's 171 has really left a bitter taste in my mouth. I don't want to open this and find parts are missing or cracked or broken and have to spend another $40 shipping it back for something that wasn't my fault to begin with. If only HLJ's pre-order periods for these things lasted longer than 10 seconds.

So I guess the crack in the black triangle piece that the shoulder armor attaches to is a pretty common thing. I looked at the one I got from NY and it's also got a crack in the part for the right side. I took a look at the photos I took of it when I got it and it shows the stress marks from being cracked like in this pic. You can see where the plastic is kinda bent and a small little white stress mark going over the side if you look at the full size pic. Man, that thing is a real lemon. Missing the part under the cockpit and a crack in the shoulder part.

What percentage of your Bandai Valks are scratched?
MacrossJunkie replied to Lupin The Third's topic in Toys
100% of mine came either scratched or scuffed up out of the box. It's part of the reason I clear coat them. It hides the ugly scuff marks that's otherwise glaringly obvious on the glossy plastic. So in the end it becomes a non-issue to me. The things I have issue with are the broken or missing parts and the crappy way Bandai handles customer service (having to ship the entire thing back instead of just sending a part). -
Thank goodness they're not making us buy three sets to get three ghosts.

Well, yeah. I know the extra tampo would add to the cost, but it's practically double the MSRP of what the VF-1's used to go for. If it's going to be produced more as an exclusive very limited quantity item, then I can understand the price better. I'm just worried that the scheme is polarizing in that people will love it or hate it and combined with the price, that it might not sell well and in turn assume that there's no market for the Macross stuff anymore. I want Arcadia to make more Macross stuff and I don't want them to get the wrong impression if this doesn't do well. Exactly my thoughts.
-
Ouch. Why the jacked up price? I don't see this selling very well at all. The scheme is way too busy/ugly and now the price is further going to kill sales of this thing.
-
Be cautious with the 1/72 non-FAST pack version. The hips are extremely susceptible to breaking. I have both versions and the one without broke on its own while in a sealed display in battroid mode. It was a very common occurrence with that version that was corrected in the FAST packed release.
-
Yes. Also the heat shield is integrated rather than a flimsy cheap piece of plastic that you tape or clip on that the 1/72 has.

Such an awesome display, Kicker. The additional LED strip added to the front edge of the shelf is a nice touch.
