Arcadia Wonder Festival 2014 (Winter) special item
MacrossJunkie replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
I think if they expect these to sell, these things better be more than just a large molded plastic shell with a moveable trigger. At that price, I could buy a real gun, like an AR-15, and use the money left over for materials to make a GU-11 like shell to put over it. -

Knowing Arcadia, they will just include a giant sticker sheet for you to apply yourself -
So is there any in-universe explanation for why Isamu's and Ozma's 29s have blue fold quartz or are they blue "just because"? From everything we've seen of fold quartz, they've always been purple in its natural state prior to this. From the little vajra bacteria to the Nome family earrings passed on to Sheryl, as far as I can recall, they have all been purple in Frontier. Could they be like lightsaber crystals and can be found in a variety of colors that were just not shown in the show or they can add in a different color in the already difficult refining process?

As far as 29s Bandai has released, there's also the 30th anniversary edition, although I don't think it was in any game.

Thanks. I was happy that the crotch plate didn't look so out of place once it was panel lined and had some weathering added. Without it, it just looked like an unfinished piece of plastic. No problem on asking again. Here is my setup from a previous post: At the bottom of the post Hope you find some time to take pics. I'd like to see your work on them too. My VF-25G supers should be up next. Yeah, between the rotodome, the huge boosters, the long ELINT antenna on the arm and the shield that sticks out more than normal, there really wasn't any way to move the arms around in either battroid or GERWALK mode without cheating on occasion. I couldn't even get the freaking rear stand adapter for fighter mode in without risking scraping off clearcoat. That piece is just badly designed. -
I thought the same too. It also made Isamu's 29 look very toy like. So far, the only fighters where I thought the heavy/dark tinting looked good were the VF-17, VF-171, and Gamlin's VF-22S. I'm not sure why I feel that way. The VF-17's canopy has just as much dark purple tinting or more than the previous iteration of the 19's canopy. Perhaps it's a combination of the type of canopy as well as the colors chosen and that maybe the darker tint works better for the fighters with a heavy stealth emphasis in the looks department.

I think the bottom two are just showing Ozma releases that lead up to his 29. I highly doubt they will be re-releasing the super parts again. Still, it doesn't mean they won't re-release the 25S at some point. It just doesn't seem like they are announcing a re-release of it on that page.

Looks like a real release to me.

Finally got around to my RVF-25 super parts + ghost set. I like the ghosts, but after trying to transform and pose the valk with the super parts on, I have to say I hate it. The super parts really limit the movement of the arms to a degree that you almost can't move it because something is always in the way. It's really bad in GERWALK where there practically is no space for the shoulders and the boosters together. Ghosts Ghosts and RVF-25 without super parts: Super RVF-25 -
Nice. I agree that the level of tinting is a whole lot better now.

They should handle it like they did with the SDF-1. Move to ABS and release an assembled version and a kit version. The kit version was half the cost of the assembled toy and included more stuff as well! It would be so easy to light this thing with LEDs, especially if you didn't care about the inside compartment. I would put LEDs in the foot and side thrusters, possibly the eye, and in the guns.

Not sure where you got those clear acrylic risers, but it seems to me that if you could find or make some that are wider and higher vertically, you could turn it upside down so it's a "U" shape (a rectangle would actually be better for more support so that the sides don't start pointing inwards from the weight of the valks) and drill holes in the vertical sides and tie the lines through them. You could put holes at different heights to suspend multiple valks.

Sorry to hear that. This release is so widely flawed with so many having bad or missing parts, Bandai should be ashamed of themselves. More so for not admitting to it or doing anything about it. I would find it hard to believe that their heads are so up in the clouds... or their posterior, that they would be so oblivious to the issues with this thing.

LOL. So true... So I guess Bandai went the extra mile to make it just like the show. Exploding bits and all. It's not bad QC, it's a feature!

Yeah, that's basically what I said, aside from whatever additional costs they might have incurred to implement the change in paint scheme. I don't have the slightest idea how expensive that would be or how many they would need to sell to cover the cost of that.

I wouldn't mind getting a second one. The one I have is slightly faulty as there is something that causes the right shoulder part that joins to the chest and backplate to get stuck so I can't bend it down very far and ends up looking a bit weird. I also wouldn't mind a re-release of Ozma's 25S. I want one for fighter mode as the one I have is in battroid mode with the armor on and that armor is such a pain to handle that I prefer not to touch it at all. I'm sure there are also plenty of people that missed it the first time around that are waiting for the re-release.

If this is purely a wishlist, then I would prefer some more new molds. Top of the list by far is a Battle Frontier and/or Battle Galaxy in 1/3000 scale. Followed by Tornado packs, then maybe a Q-Rea, YF-24, and YF-25. But really, all I desire from them is Battle Frontier or Galaxy. Everything else is just nice to have icing on the cake.

It has proven to be perfectly safe, or at least the kind I got has been. I have clear coats covering the entirety of my valks to worry about and not just the small areas of painted parts and I have not found any slightest hint of damage to paint or clear coats. No abrasions/scratches/sticking to coat/eating through or anything else of the sort. I've had mine hanging for a long time too so I can confidently say it's safe to use without fear of damage to paint or plastic.

I personally don't really care for the Alaska base scheme. It was cool seeing people painting up customs of it themselves, but I'm not sure if selling this scheme is a good idea. It's very nearly just a color swap (with exception of the tail fins) with the Max and Kakizaki VF-1As and stores had trouble selling the Kakizaki versions even after Yamato had gone bye bye where everything else was getting snatched up first. This one is much more obscure, doesn't have any characters tied to it and, imo, not particularly interesting looking. Not really sure how well it will sell, but if they are made to order, then I suppose it doesn't matter too much. As long as the ones sold covers the cost to change the paint colors and they aren't losing money on it.

I only took one shot of the two together in fighter mode yesterday in one of the picture threads but it wasn't anything like a side by side comparison. Nice pics. I especially like the GERWALK one and the battroid one with the light background. I think the ones with the white background worked out better. For whatever settings and lighting conditions you used in those, the color and contrast look pretty good in those compared to the dark background ones where the lighting kind of washed out the detail and depth. Oh! That's pretty clever.

Should be fine. The kind I used was overkill. This is what I used - Berkley Trilene Big Game Monofilament Custom Spool I did it the hard way and tied the knots without taking any of the shelves or items off (too lazy to even though it made more work in the end). That required some patience and dexterous fingers. If you don't want to be dumb like me, I would suggest taking the shelves off to have an easier time

That's not a bad idea. I had settled on placing bits of paper over the tips on mine which works, but kind of looks ugly. Whatever substance was used seems rather unstable or something. The feet on the stands are made of the same stuff and they fuse themselves to glass too. One time I tried to pick up a stand that had been sitting in the display case for a while and the whole glass shelf came up with it. Wouldn't be a bad idea to put it over the feet of the stands as well.

I guess I'm just evil that way Forgot to do the obvious and take a pic of it with Isamu's 19. -
I would even be happy if they just released 1/60 scale decals for Enigma, Minmay Guard, Blue Roses, etc. and make some more blank kits to put them on. Selling the super parts would be nice too. I really want an enigma scheme VF-1, but I don't know how I would handle making decals for that due to not being able to print white and also not having good clear scans of the squadron insignia available.
