Nice shots, Saburo, as usual Dang, that reminds me that I have my 25g tornado packs to do... grr... That's been sitting on the backburner forever. I also forgot about my Q-Rhea still sitting in the HLJ warehouse waiting for something to be shipped along with it. -

That's pretty comparable to Dying Light. If memory serves, the requirements, particularly in the minimum category, used to be higher but they lowered it for the game a little while later. The RAM reqs were double in both the min and recommended categories what they are now. I don't know if it was because the initial specs were mistaken or because people were going "wtf?"- 6837 replies

I had to look up what this Plasti Dip was. Is there any particular reason you want to use plasti dip instead of paint made for models? It looks like it's a rubberized spray on coating that you can peel off. Probably would be pretty thick as well and seems like it could peel off along with the masking when you remove the masking. As for the masking itself, all you would really need is Tamiya masking tape, an x-acto knife, and maybe some liquid masking film.

Wow! Just got it off of CDJ. Actually got to apply some points and brought it down to $228.75 after EMS shipping. Hmmm, HLJ is way cheaper. Oh well. I got a pre-order. I'm happy and done with tonight.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to stay up. I've got work in the morning and I've never been able to secure a pre-order on these Bandai releases because they somehow disappear in the 2-5 seconds it takes to refresh a page.

You probably wouldn't miss the toe break pedals anyway. I can't find a good use for them because of the way games seem to see the axis. For example, star citizen and other games don't see the left and right toe brake axis as a 0-100 scale, but as a -50 to 50 scale and at resting position, it's at -50 instead of 0, so whatever I try to assign it to is unusable. I can't even get them to work right in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I also wish it was a bit smaller (it's huge!). At any position than the one I have it at right now, it bangs against the frame. Even now, there's maybe a few millimeters of clearance on either side when I slide the pedals back and forth. That aside, I'm loving my current setup. Things that require subtle movements like the Murray Cup races in Star Citizen or just aiming at ships is so much easier now compared to the X-55 with all its stiction problems. Took me a couple days to get used to it. The stick is a solid metal casing and with enough heft that I could unscrew the handle and easily bludgeon someone to death with it if someone were to attack me. The centering tension is much higher than even the heaviest spring for the X-55. Even some of the buttons require some finger strength to push. My right hand was hurting and my arm was tired after just 40 min of using it on the first day. Now it's not so bad. Hmm, I guess I'll have to figure out how to make my own. I'd probably need to get a sewing machine though I can't use a needle worth a crap. I think one made out of black leather or leather-like material and red stitching would look great.- 6837 replies

Glad you're having fun with it so far. I'll be continuing to keep an eye on the game's evolution. I know what features they've promised to add in so it will be interesting to see how the actual implementation goes. Nice! Can't really go wrong with any of those. That's strange they they leave it up to the customer to figure out how to mount the tabletop. Is it supposed to go on top of the steering wheel platform? I've had to change out my HOTAS. The stupid X-55 Rhino developed massive issues with static friction on the stick to the point where moving it to a direction would sometimes just get stuck there and just trying to make a tiny movement in a direction from center was impossible. It would be stuck until I applied enough pressure and then go way over because of all the pressure applied. I couldn't even modify it it to try to smooth it out because of the way it was built which prevented me from doing so. So I bit the bullet and got the Thrustmaster Warthog which Newegg had a sale on during cybermonday where they offered the warthog + saitek combat pedals together for $400 which was an amazing deal. Here's mine as it is now. I wish I could do better cable management but I'm finding most of my cables are too short to give me enough slack to hide them. Also, where did you get the covers for your HOTAS?! Those are great. I really need something like that. I'm just using the clear plastic bags the warthog came packaged in to keep out the dust and it looks like utter crap. Have you tried the Diaspora mod for Freespace 2? I thought it did a pretty good job getting the feel of combat in BSG.- 6837 replies

I had been hemming and hawing for weeks before the release on whether I should buy it or not. I had been following its development since its early days but never backed it. It looked interesting initially, but there was just something about it that never managed to convince me to pull the trigger. I watched tons of gameplay videos from people who were playing through the beta throughout the year. In the end, the final game just didn't seem to provide much that would keep me playing long enough to get my money's worth out of it. The impression I continued to get from the beta videos a mere couple weeks before the actual release was the gameplay was rather shallow once you looked past the actual flying. The exploration, grouping, and social functionality are particularly lackluster. The flying portion itself looked great. I like the beam weapons, heat and signature management which gives possibilities for sneaking past people or ambushing, and the manual station docking is cool. They're going to continue to develop the game and add more features, but as it stands right now, it's rather disappointing, imo, since I was looking for another good space sim. That said, what's your impression of the game after playing it some? Currently keeping an eye on No Man's Sky. It looks pretty promising, especially for people who like to explore.- 6837 replies

They've always had that, right down to the version 1's.

Yeah, I guess it could be that also. When I saw it was at the Warrendale, PA post office, I was thinking, "Nice! It should be at the local post office soon and be at my house by tomorrow." Nope! It goes to somewhere in Michigan! Anyway, I just opened it up and gave it a quick inspection and transformed it. Wings are bent as badly as the first release. Wonder what happened as I thought they were getting better with the more recent releases. Paint is still mismatched. One thing that did surprise me is that they revamped the sliding tray the head is attached to. I don't know if it was mentioned already earlier in this thread as I haven't been keeping up, but this was a welcome surprise to me. The old versions, including the most recent release of the 25F used a fragile double hinge mechanism on the front that connected the outer frame to the inner tray that the head attaches to, which I've had one break and a couple others form cracks. This new one was a bit harder to manage at first since I wasn't aware of the change, but it looks a lot more durable. It attaches on a vertical slider on the back of the sliding frame instead. The redesign also seems to allow the tray to lock in place now without wiggling around while keeping the shoulder plates at a proper angle as well.

My got 25S just arrived today. That makes it 25 days for it to arrive at my doorstep via Eco - SAL registered. Probably would have arrived a bit sooner because at one point it was at a post office only about 1 hr from my house, and then for some strange logistical reason that I will never understand, it went on a truck northwards to another state before making its rounds and coming back...

OMG. I'm late seeing this, but wow that sucks... sorry, Saburo. I never would have thought that could be a point of failure. I'm still waiting on mine. I'll have to watch that area now.

No problem. I don't think I was very clear on how I got the links though, so here's a more detailed explanation. Going back to your image, if you click the "Share this photo" icon (right pointing arrow) and select BBCode. Select the smaller size first in the drop down and copy the stuff in the box below it. It would have this for a 320x180 image: [url=https://flic.kr/p/ph3zAX][img=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_877dc2eaa2_n.jpg][/url] [url=https://flic.kr/p/ph3zAX]YF-19 and YF-21[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/people/127225170@N06/]Wm K[/url], on Flickr Keep the stuff within the first set of "url" tags. [url=https://flic.kr/p/ph3zAX][img=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_877dc2eaa2_n.jpg][/url] Now select the larger image size you want and only copy the http link within the first set of "img" tags and replace the address after the "url=" above with the one you just copied. [url=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_e6ffa7f4fd_o.jpg][img=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_877dc2eaa2_n.jpg][/url] And that's it. The "url" portion is where the image will take you to when you click it and the "img" part is what image is shown in the post. And now here are the rest of my Super Alto 29 pics. I decided to play around with HDR processing to see how my pics would look. I just added a tiny bit. GERWALK Battroid -

The lighting on that looks pretty much perfect. The shot looks as good as you can get. When you upload files to the forum gallery, there is some extra compression and quality loss and limits the image size. If you want, you can use the BBCode share link on Flickr and modify it so it links direct to the image instead of the page. I usually do a direct image link and then wrap it in a link to the larger image. Like this: [url=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_e6ffa7f4fd_o.jpg][img=https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15277772863_877dc2eaa2.jpg][/url] which gets you your image as a smaller pic and gives you the original size when you click on it: -

I love it! Looks great. Did you make the background yourself? -
I think beyond maybe the first few minutes of PA's pre-orders being up, we all knew that there was no way they would be able to secure enough for the number of days they had their pre-orders open. Even if they didn't intend to deceive or cheat anyone, they were kidding themselves if they thought they could fill even a fraction of the orders they must have received over so many days.
-
Yeah, as long as they mold it in color then that piece should be safe ... like molding a part in one color and then painting it entirely in another color (VF-25S) or molding it in the proper color, painting the whole entire piece in another color then trying to repaint the area that should have been the color of the plastic in a color that doesn't quite match (Ozma YF-29). I'm still scratching my head about that.

Wow, I'm finally around when NY put up a VF-25S. I kept seeing here that they put some up, but they were always gone by the time I looked. I just checked now and saw it was back up so I grabbed one.

The noses on the two 19's I have lock in place just fine also.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I held the light in the wrong place as I didn't study the background image close enough. I was thinking the light source was coming from the rear right of the plane as the background was brighter on the left side and I was thinking to myself that the sun was positioned low on that side, but now that you mention it, the shadows do indicate the light source coming from the other direction. Doh! -

I pulled the background from the commons on wikimedia. It's a public domain photo of Kandahar taken by the US gov't. I did try to add some heat haze/wave effect coming from the engines. I ran a ripple filter on it a few times, but it's hard to see because the background is already pretty chaotic and it's hard to spot ripples on ripples. You can kinda see it on the thrusters themselves though. That was the best I could figure out to do based on the tools I had =( I think I'll have to play around with GIMP some more to see if there are any other alternatives. I'm already proud of myself for finding a way to somewhat fake the contrails though. Edit: okay, I googled images of jet exhaust. I am going to try to rework that part. Edit 2: Here we go. I think it looks better now. Not perfect, but improved until I can find a better filter to simulate it. -
I love the angle and pose on this shot!
