Which Direction Do VF-1S Head Lasers Point? PLEASE VOTE!
MacrossJunkie replied to sqidd's topic in Toys
Be a madlad and have one side's lasers canted forward and the other side back! -
No apologies needed. So long as you understand Actually Mr. Miyagi has a point there. Just wax (wipe) off with some solvent. Back to white!

Mask it off and re-paint it white again? >.>

I just watched it today and I have to agree. I actually felt this was much better than the series. Most of the BS and extraneous stuff was cut out, it felt like the fights were improved, and the story felt more cohesive. I liked how the movie trolls you in the final Messer vs Keith fight also :P I liked some of the stuff on the extras disc also. Particularly the funny short segments they included. Reminded me a bit of the chibi Overlord Pleiades mini-episodes. Anyway, seeing Mirage's SV-262 makes me wish Bandai would just release an unassembled, unpainted kit version like Yamato did with the VF-1 and let people go to town with it.

So who's going to mask off the visor and spray it gray? :P

Seems to be working for me. It has stiffened up the arms for my non-PF VF-0D and the left arm for one of my VF-25S, but the right arm still remains pretty floppy, so I'll try adding additional layers. I added some to the wings of my Yamato Nora and Ivanov SV-51 to see if I can get it to not droop anymore and so far so good. Seems to be staying up even without the pins which were kind of useless to begin with. Overall, not too bad at all.

Mine came today as well. I got two bottles. I think I'll leave one with the default dropper and swap the other one to the thinner metal dropper. I'll be trying it on some VF-25's that have super loose joints that could easily flap in the breeze which I had kind of given up hope for.

Yeah, it was just my memory playing tricks on me since it was white throughout the other episodes and then they switched it for just one episode. It's either that or the Mandela Effect.

That's a pretty nice restoration job you did there. I wouldn't have thought that a green gray color would work so well. It looks more on the blue side. Too bad Beagle never got around to making Yellow's bike. There'd have been a joke somewhere in there about Yellow's bike being yellow.

Hmm, okay. I just recalled it having white goggles throughout the series when Hikaru was using it. I guess it switched over to having grey in that one episode. Odd.
-
I think I don't understand why there is disappointment in the lack of grey trimmed goggles. Was it ever shown in promo pics from Arcadia to have it? Also it seems to be sold as Hikaru's 1J in GBP armor from SDFM rather than the one that shows briefly in DYRL. Wasn't it only the DYRL version that showed for all of a second or two that had the grey goggles? I don't recall Hikaru's having it in SDFM unless there were some coloring errors that I don't recall (and there were many in the show).

Sounds like Bandai copied the "features" of the Yamato 1/48's in more ways than I thought.

Thanks. It's been a while since I took those pics, but I believe I had used a 24" x 24" light tent with a black velvet backdrop and used 2 lights diffused through the light tent for the first one and a single lamp shown more directly on it, but further away for the second.

This sounds pretty awesome. Nice find. I wonder how durable it is, whether it will require reapplication now and then.

The computer and electronics super geek thread

On top off the initial cost of the card, that thing will probably be giving you a high electric bill. Not to mention all the heat it's going to put out. That card is massive and takes up 3 slots. I was considering a 3080 or 3090 but these amperes seem like they're going to be small furnaces and the monster size of the 3090 is a no go for me. Definitely not jumping on the initial founder's edition cards and will see how Navi 2 measures up before deciding what to get. I just hope AMD has improved the quality of their drivers since the last time I had a Radeon card since it could be the best card in the world, but that means nothing if the drivers are buggy and prone to crashing or causing blue screens.. -
That looks just amazing! Doing all that aztecing by hand must have been quite a pain. All lit up in the dark, I'd have thought it was a movie prop.

As long as you don't glue it together. I didn't bother with the TV style feet, but I left the feet removable because I made the power switch for the engine lights and battery accessible from there. I didn't glue the halves of the booms together and they are locked together with no issues or looseness by placing the guns over the pegs so I can swap the pieces as desired. Both can be rotated for the transformation process. The photo etch parts are nice because it lets you give the toy extra raised textures and such as you can see above.

Well, you could try looking at these white toner cartridges, if you haven't already. You basically swap out the black toner cartridge with these and then trick the computer into printing white by inverting the colors in an image so that white becomes black and black becomes white so that it thinks it's printing black with black toner, but it's actually using white toner. Unfortunately the cartridges are only for select models of HP printers and then there's the difficulty of getting perfect alignment of the sheet you're printing on for multiple passes for small decals/text that Anasazi mentioned. I'm not sure how well aligned these HP printers draw in papers/printing mediums.

Those all look great! The weathering work looks nice on the Su-57 and F/A-37. I like the low-vis schemes for the YF-19 and VF-22 also.

I think the blu tack cures cancer. The white kinds can double as chewing gum.

LOL, yes. In general, 2020 has shown a good amount of insanity and idiocy coming out of the woodwork with all that's been going on. How about using a bit of sticky tack to secure them instead of glue?

If a certain president said that as an offhand remark, you can bet there would be some people out there guzzling down elmer's glue.

I could totally see Kakizaki making that pose and grinning like an idiot after finally managing to make a kill. I still think these are the best hands on a Macross toy to date with all that you can do with them.

Man, that assembly kit version in that search listing is going for 55,000. I'm so glad I got mine from HLJ back in the day for ¥12,956 (¥17,006 after shipping). I fully regretted getting the toy version which came with nothing and would have only gotten the kit version had I known that would be coming later. The kit was less than half the price of the assembled toy, came with decals, glow in the dark stickers, photo-etch parts, and optional parts. Neither the photo-etch nor optional parts can be obtained anywhere else either, not even the Arcadia premium finish version (as far as I know).

Arcadia 1/60 Perfect Transformation VF-0D for 2015
MacrossJunkie replied to Dark_Ghost's topic in Toys
These things seem to be selling pretty well despite the price tag.
