If people saw a retelling of SDF Macross it might get people to check out the original SDF macross tv series to see the original source material. If a retelling of the story were going to happen how would everyone like it to be done? As a series of movies or would a aeries of OVA's be better? If they did a retelling I would want them to have Mikimoto do any character design updates.

Well I decided to watch it today and got to about the end of the film and it froze on me, I think one of the VOB files didn't get extracted correctly out of the ace file, so I will try and re download the ace file when it come back up. From what I watched you don't really notice pixels all that much unless your standing right in front of your tv.

Thanks for the help, I got the vob file to burn and the disc played in my player.
-
The file formats that were in the combined folder were .VOB .IFO.BUP I have never messed around with these file types before and was unsure what to do with them. I'm sure it's probably something simple that I don't know anything about.

I need a little help here, I have all of the files combined into one file now and am just not sure how I am suppose to burn the files in the combined folder to a disc? Thanks for the help in advance.

What is your opinion on that novel? Wow a 20 page timeline, wonder who who came up that one.

They had merchandising rights to DYRL but not rights to the actual movie? I am surprised they never tried to bring the movie over then they could release two versions, a robotech version and a authentic version of DYRL. HG would be the only ones able to bring the movie over due to trademark of the Macross name right?

That sounds a bit out of character for him, maybe the author thought the same thing after writing those paragraphs and decided to backtrack on it. Got a a question, I think there are five Sentinels novels and then there is end of circle i believe, is end of circle part of the Sentinels storyline or is it completely different story? RavenHawk, You mentioned a time line in issue 0 of Sentinels, In my Sentinels comics I received yesterday I think it was in the sentinels illustrated handbook number 3 had a timeline it, if you have checked it out does it have the same time line as in Issue #0? The timeline in the illustrated handbook ended i think where the original robotech series ended.

So Rick become more aggressive as in say blow everything up or is it in just how he carries himself and what causes this? I am looking forward to reading your review on this series of comics I don't think I have ever heard to much good about the prelude comics. I got my sentinels comics in the mail so I need to open that box and take a look at them.

Robotech comics appear to be a mixed bag but I think all comics are a mixed bag at one time or another. I appreciate you sharing your Robotech comic reviews with us. I haven't looked to much into downloading the Sentinels comics yet, I am going to see what I can get in hard copy form fist. I actually have some Sentinels comics on the way right now 12 issues of book 1,five issues of book 2, 1 issue of book 3, both issues of the wedding special and two of the illustrated handbooks and one of the Sentinels scrip books. Books three and four look to be the toughest to get hard copy's of so I will probably just have to keep an eye out for those but ,may have to look at downloading if ever want too see them. From what I have seen the novels don't look like they will be to hard get a copy of plus I want the hard copy's to go along with my two Macross Saga omnibuses. You know its funny, I was all worried about checking out the Sentinels because I was afraid the Macross Saga characters would get screwed up but reading these reviews got me to dive head first into the Sentinels. I will echo your echo and say that I also appreciate everyones comments and that this is very fun thread to participate in.

I have read the Macross Saga omnibus of the first three novels and greatly enjoyed them and will start on the second Macross Saga omnibus fairly soon after that I may go for the Sentinels novels. I will likely take a look at both the Sentinels comics and novels. Cool, Thanks for the link lots and lots of info.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these comics RavenHawk. I have decided to try and get a hold what Sentinel comics I can and probably try for the novels as well at some point. So based upon what you have read so far which sentinels do you prefer comics or novels or do you like both equally well? Anyone else have an opinion that would like to chime in?

Thanks for the info on the interview. I don't want him to rush it, I want Macross the First to stay at the current high quality of the first two chapters.
-
Were there any interesting highlights in the Mikimoto interview?
-
I might see it. If it is based on the Macross portion and if I think it looks good.

Hmmm interesting question. I think I would go with Misa on that one, alway liked the Misa and Hikaru relationship and watching the charachter development as they grew closer and fell in love. Uhm as for the pole dancing they need to keep that in a doujinshi something.
-
Thanks for the info I didn't know the comics were one big story line. I thought they were 4 different story arch's or something based on the book one and book two numbering they were using.
-
I did some looking around and I see what Totoro242 was talking about with the later chapters of the Sentinels comics will no drought be hard to come by. Now it was mentioned that book Book IV ended early so would Book IV still be worth taking a look at or since you cant get the whole story would I be better off skipping it?

I imagine a lot things will look different in a live action version. Uniforms would probably be changed variable fighters would probably be different. I wonder if they will try to put a transforming SDF-1 in there. Could the ship even be called SDF-1 without causing a problem ?
-
Yeah, Misa is still in nothing but the job mode right now and I to am looking forward to seeing her progress and start showing off womanliness as you say. Really looking forward to seeing Misa and Hikaru relationship develop in Mikimoto art.

I missed Robotech back in the 80's so my first Macross experience was DYRL and saw SDF when ADV released it a few years back. But what I did that was funny, I was needing some kind of macross fix and picked up the Macross Saga novel and that led me to watch robotech last year ( Don't throw anything at me please) I didn't think robotech was all that bad. I thought it had a pretty good voice actors in it.
-
Ouch, so you two are Just like Misa and Hikaru to the extreme then. I am glad all of my transformers are in boxes, I have a closet full of boxes of comics I don't think I would survive getting hit in the head with one of the heavy things. The Macross F main story didnt' really impress me all that much, but now that I think about it Seceret Visions did seem to look more like the characters were suppose to but there was a whole lot of uh..fansevice in that one.
-
Don't give up on Misa you know you'll regret it when Minmey decides to quit paying attention to you. Just hang in there you can do it. That comic right there was pretty funny Misa knocked the crap out of Hikaru. Ah true love. You haven't been knocked out yet like hikaru was in that comic were you?

From what I have read when they first described Robotech I think they mentioned getting technology from a crashed alien spacecraft and their survival being in the hands of two pilots. Sounds kind of like the Macross portion with the crashed alien spacecraft part, but who are the two pilots supposed to be? I would assume Rick is one but would the other one be Roy or Max?

I agree that the novels are well thought out and a great read. The thing that was funny was I read a good portion of the Macross Saga novel before I even saw robotech, didn't see robotech till last year in the protoculture collection and I had already seen SDF Macross before that and before that I saw Mac plus and Mac 2 somewhere in there but saw Macross DYRL first before I knew DYRL was the name of it or that it was Japanese, but that movie has stuck with me as I grew up.I think I saw everything in reverse. I haven't decided for sure if I will check out the rest of novels past the Macross Saga or not, If I do it would more than likely be the sentinels if I do try to read more of them. I am trying to decide if getting the collected editions would be easier than trying track down all of the issues individually. Anyone know if the collected editions had any kind of extras in them or was it just the comics?
