Work has been INSANE this week. I will try to have the For Sale post up by tonight. Thank you for your continued patience.
-
If someone can post a good pic of that "Heavy Metal" Leg Art, I'll add it to the list of available designs.
-
I already have the "Valk" Minmay and "Sailor" Minmay designs integrated into my Minmay Guard sets, but I don't see why they couldn't be resized to fit the GBP. As for the first two, if you want those for your own GBPs, I'm sure we can work something out.
-
I can do that, but they would probably take up more than one sheet of decal paper and I am not sure about cost. I'll try putting them all together and see what the total damage would be.
-
Let's just say that my fiancee was not amused when she found me working on the Leg Art earlier this week. But hey, boobies seem to be an integral part of fighter decoration, so why buck the system?
-
I've been swamped. I'll be getting back to folks who have PM'd me this week later today.

***When I am ready to take orders (in a day or two), I will post a thread in the For Sale forum. This is just a courtesy announcement.*** Why this particular set has taken so long for me to complete is a really long story. I'll provide the "short attention span theater" version here: 1) I started a new job in December--one which eats up A LOT of my free time. 2) Yamato was very mean and decided to print their stickers on film with white backing. This made scanning and extracting the designs extraordinarily difficult and time-consuming. Many, many thanks to Graham for providing a high quality scan of the sheet for me to work with. Lucky for me the company I now work for makes software used by various government agencies to analyze satellite imagery. I was able to use that to get the designs off the sheet--despite the white stickers-on-white-background problem (Photoshop sucks in this department). Who knew Homeland Security concerns could benefit Macross collectors! 3) I was almost done with the set a few weeks ago when we had a power outage and, unfortunately, I hadn't saved my work. I haven't made that mistake in many years and I'm still kicking myself over it.... Having to start over actually made the end product much better, so there's the silver lining, I guess. Anyway, onto the set: It takes up a full sheet of paper and is essentially a repro of the Yamato sheet. The designs, as always, can be printed on waterslide decal or sticker paper (buyer's choice). Besides the standard benefits my sticker and decal sets have over the Yamato originals, I am also including the option of "Leg Art" for those who are interested. Between the lovely ladies available in the old Macross Hobby Handbook and additional ones from Artmic Design Works that Graham provided, there are 48 different women to choose from (and one armored valkyrie symbol). These designs are meant to go on the inside of the right or left leg on your GBP armor. Additional thanks go to wm cheng for a scan of the leg armor so I could properly size everything. If you want the standard set pictured below as decals, and you don't want a Leg Art design, then you should purchase your set through TMP Anime. As always, they will handle the sale of my regular sets. If you want custom work done to your set, or want the sticker version, or want Leg Art to go with your set, I will handle the order myself. Each set is $20 and each Leg Art design is an additional $1. You can peruse the entire catalog of Leg Art here: GBP Leg Art Catalog Here are sample pics of the set and a few Leg Art designs:

The designs I create can be printed on either traditional sticker paper or waterslide decal paper. In either case, you have to cut out the designs yourself prior to application. Having the designs pre-cut would be incredibly expensive for the number of sets that I usually end up selling. If you want to see what the designs look like when applied to a valk, check out almost any custom under 1/48 in the Customs section of the main site. As in stickers that you peal off a stickersheet that have some sort of adhesive on them and you apply directly to the toy? Like Transformers stickers? 363788 Yup. 363790 So... what kind of quality are we talking? Pre-cut? Got any pix of previous sticker runs applied to the toys that I could look at? Yeah, I know, I'm still a bit of a noobie around here. 363863

Yes, you can place orders with me directly.

Many of you have been wondering if I will be creating decals and stickers for the 1/48 GBP. The short answer is yes, and they should be ready in about two weeks. My new job has kept me extraordinarily busy for the past two months, so all things Macross have suffered, and as a result my decal project timelines have been extended. TMP Anime will be distributing the standard decal versions and I will take sticker orders myself. If you need anything custom on your set, including what I talk about below, I will handle those orders as well. Price estimate is $20 since the designs will take up an entire sheet of decal or sticker paper. I will be including the option of a "pin-up" girl design (think WWII bomber art) that you can apply to the leg of your GBP armor. There will be a catalog of at least a dozen to choose from (based on designs from old Macross hobby books) that I will post online when I am ready to take orders. Each design will cost extra, but not much (about $1, but don't quote me on that yet). Many thanks to Graham for the GBP sticker and pin-up girl scans. Please do not contact me about ordering right now. I will post a thread in the For Sale forum when I am ready to take orders. Thank you for your patience.

I gave up trying to figure out the whole Millia/Miria/Myria/Miriya issue long ago when it came to making decals and stickers. Hasegawa does one thing, Yamato another, Bandai yet another.... I tend to stick to the manufacturer's choice for the sake of my own sanity.... You're right, though. In the series there's that one scene where Max is wearing an apron with both of their names on it and hers is spelled Millia. Oh well.

After looking at the Hasegawa Virgin Road decal sheet, I've decided that the best thing to do is to offer those decals/stickers as an option set for $3.25. The only decals needed in addition to the ones already on the 1D sheet are the "Just Married" markings and grey versions of the kite symbols and intake chevrons. Here's a sample pic. White markings have a grey background so you can see them. There's no special numerical designation for this valk, at least not according to Hasegawa. That makes sense since the valk is supposed to be Max's 1J....
-
Easily done. It's just a slightly modified version of the Max/Myria 1J set I currently have. I didn't think anyone was interested in that. PM me if you'd like me to make it. -Devin

I can print either. Buyer's choice.

Now that the 1D conversion kits are starting to ship, I'd like to know how many people would like the decals I designed for them so I can order enough paper and ink to meet demand. Price is $10 per set, shipping included. Please PM me and I will reply with payment details and ETA. I will add names to the interest list as quickly as possible. The designs can be printed as waterslide decals or stickers. hirohawa x1 1 VF-1 2NV x1 JoLe727 x1 wickedpr1nce x1 Die, Alien Scum! x3 Sephiroth x1 Mechamaniac x1 4everNewbie x1 Vermillion One x2

I decided not to include the chestplate trapezoids on the decal sheet for two reasons. The first, as you point out, is that their actual size is an unknown quantity at present. Second, and more importantly, those sorts of details should really be painted on if at all possible. It looks like there will be great panel lines, which makes masking so much easier. I can add the trapezoids for those who are interested, but not until I have a conversion kit to work with.
-
Okay, the decal set for this conversion kit is finally done. Below is a sample pic. Price will be $10, shipping included. I'll start taking orders once the kits are ready to ship.
-
The part swap is the least of what needs to happen. The 1D has a different color scheme than every valk Yamato has released in the 1/48 line. You're looking at a complete repaint, which often requires some additional part modifications to eliminate possible paint scraping. I've started a topic in the For Sale forum regarding 1D customizations. Price is $250. You provide the valk and conversion parts, I provide everything else (including return shipping).
-
Just in case anyone was wondering, I still plan on making decal sets to complement the conversion kit. Price shouldn't exceed $10 and they'll be ready to go when the kits become available.
-
The best thing to do, if you're debating between the content of our sets, is to look at the preview pics posted in the store section of tmpanime.com. We took different approaches in terms of content. I went with a Hasegawa-inspired design theme while Takatoys tends to stay closer to what Yamato offers on the original sticker sheets. Both styles seem to keep people around here pretty happy. Please feel free to check out my entire catalog. I have almost 70 sets available now. Whew! Also, please PM me if you have any specific questions.
-
Just a quick reminder that I will stop taking orders on Friday, September 9. After that, it will likely be at least a few months before I am ready to take more orders.
-
The standard decal version is $10.99 at tmpanime.com. You can follow the link in my last post to find out more.

Turns out TMP is willing to bundle this decal set with the VF-1A for those who are interested. You end up saving a little on the decals that way. Tamim mentioned that if you've already preordered a valk and want the decals, submit a separate order for the decals and he will only charge you the discounted bundled price when everything's ready to ship. Not too shabby.... VF-1A decals at TMP VF-1A valk/decal bundle
