No, it just means the Shinichiro Watanabe is a pop-culture otaku.

With Warhammer, anything can happen http://www.boingboing.net/2008/05/18/hello...y-comes-to.html Tis the grimdark future indeed.

I can't tell what you're asking for.

Thats not what "Bebop" is...

If WB really wanted a good and popular Giant Robot franchise to make a live action movie they would have gotten Armored Troopers VOTOMS or Mobile Suit Gundam. I suspect the reason why they are interested in Robotech is because the franchise is extremely cheap as opposed to Bandai's series'. WB would be able to play better hardball against a bunch of nobodies than say another large corporation.

It'll be called Robotech Frontier : Return to the 80's

Part B is not correct for the United States. We get the same kind of products that Japanese can purchase, in fact Walmart is selling the Shoji Kawamori designed Thundercracker master piece toy. It looks almost exactly like an F-14. There is a huge market for these collectible toys, especially authentically reproduced ones that can cost upward of 200 dollars. BigBadToyStore wouldn't be so big if it wasn't for the American collectors. USA even gets "bishoujo" type figures from Diamond Select, DC and Kotobukiya, with the various X-Men,Batman and assorted superheroines. I would say that the only thing preventing the market from Japanese goods is accessibility. Lets not forget that Gundam is not a Japanese anomaly.

That's a harsh assesment. I know in manufacturing that there are instances where designs lie between mass-production quality and art-house quality, so they release limited amounts. Its sort of like back w hen hybrid cars were rare, they still made em because people wanted them, no matter that back in the 90's Toyota sold like 10k hybrids. If there's a costumer for something, then someones gonna sell it.

Auction it off, and post the pictures on Robotech.com!

Just as I thought. I always felt that a 1/2000 scale Macross would be too big for the kind of transformation it would do. The joints would turn to crap after a few transformations, if they're not made of very rigid materials .

Yamato already knows that the product is botched. It would have otherwise been cancelled. But I suppose there was enough interest from well-to-do fans that they're selling a garage kit instead. Im pretty sure the people who wanted it have already preordered it. This is more in line to something like a gold plated Chogokin or something similar. I get the feeling Yamato never intended to manufacture this in the first place, and is only selling the kits to make up for the loss in work time.

At least we still have the VF100's line.

VB-6 isn't free standng? Ah damn.

Well what was the point of Bayformers? Explosions and toys, of course. Isn't HG primarily concerned with merchandising and not original content?

Honestly, the Robotech movie would probably be "inspired" by the series or the books. They can't really translate "pop music saves the world" to a film format. Look what happened to Spice World? Alright bad example, but seriously, think about it. It will be like the Transformers movie, or the new Star Trek. A "re-imagining", if you want to call it. Best bet, it will have the main characters and transforming mecha. Everything else would probably dumped, like the Max and Millia thing, Kakizaki , maybe Roy won't even be in the movie.

Weren't the reimported versions of Mospeada and Southern Cross what garnered those series more attention?
-
Even if someone tried recasting it, they would have to recast nearly 400 parts, and the end product may be too flimsy to assemble.
-
So if its 210,000 yen for an "advanced resin kit", wouldn't the price increase if they produce a completed version? I dont know if mass-production would actually decrease the price in this case.

Wait, did Toynami ever recall any of their Robotech toys?

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Funkenstein replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I have a question about the water slide decals. Has anyone had a difficult time with them? I had already messed up two of the decals, one of which disappeared and then found dried up under my thumb. Im very close to abandoning the water slides and using the clear stickers instead. Anyone have tips for those decals? I already have the decal setter solution and plenty of clear gloss paint, I just need some direction. -
Well, it is if they never mention where its from. You know, since they included NONE of the sources for the fighter craft? Or the fact that they seemed to have stolen images from MAHQ.net and Macross Mecha Manual. Its one thing to add vehicles inspired by other series' (Like Battletech and Heavy Gear), its a totally different thing to outright misappropriate stuff without an explanation. Sure this is a fanwork, but it just shows how little consideration is given to the real sources of these aircraft. It just goes to show that even Robotech fans are fed up with the plainly 80's designs that have walked onto the 21st century and are now incorporating designs produced by an actual aerospace engineer (Shoji Kawamori).

I think the reason a discussion on the size of the SDF-1 is legitimate is because Artists aren't Architects, specifically. scale is a real problem in artwork. This coincides with the fact that the SDF-1 had a compliment of 70 thousand people in it. The usable space inside the Macross would always be less than .5 square kilometers, meaning that "Macross City" would have a population density perhaps exceeding that of Tokyo.

You may be confusing something with marginal cost. Marginal cost is the cost to produce another unit. This marginal cost reduces based on volume of production. Say you have a 1 million dollar factory and produce only 1 VF-1 model. The cost of that model is 1 million + cost of the model itself. If you make 1 million VF-1's, its 1 dollar + material costs ,for each unit creating a lower per unit cost. In all likelihood the cost of the newer models are due to cost of materials, cost of time spent creating the CAD design and cost of the license. The cost of licenses for older series is usually lower because those shows don't air on TV or very rarely. Newer or more popular shows have higher license costs. Its been known that Macross license has been notoriously expensive in the past few years.

The VA-X3 Its in mahq.net Macross section , under Advanced Valkyrie Hmm, you know what I think the VA-3M invader may be more in line with "B2 Spirit". It was the variable bomber in Macross VF-X2.
