From the same interview: "They asked me to make a parts drawing. I guess they misunderstood and thought that I was someone who could make blueprints because I knew about the design. So, I had a tough time convincing them that I couldn't do that. And when we were making "Mospeada" toys, the person who made the test products didn't understand the transforming bike. He was making wooden models but he interpreted them the way he wanted and made them with different structures. Then they said, "It doesn't transform well." And they asked me for advice so I went to see it. It was a totally different thing. In the end, the person from Matsushiro who made the Valkyrie, made it and brought it to completion." The same guy who made the TT Valkyrie also made the large scale Ride Armor, so its very possible that this guy also was involved with the large scale Legioss...

New Macross dojinshis and Ld Macross pics...
Totoro242 replied to akim's topic in Movies and TV Series
Very cool! I love Macross postcards and I have never seen those before, I'll add them to my watch list -
You are correct. Here is the quote by Shiji Aramaki: "Actually we tried to sell this to Takatoku, the sponsor for a program to take over after "Macross." We made a wooden model which could be transformed for the presentation. At that time, the producer told me, "Having only the transforming bike is kind of weak. Why don't you create a jet fighter version, too?" I thought, "If it has this much volume, it can be transformed". I drew robots and a fighter jet adequately and showed the sponsor. And they said, "Does it really transform? Why don't you show us a wooden model in ten days?" After we came back, Mr. Kakinuma and I had a tough time on setting up like, "This part comes here and the joint attaches here..." I asked someone I knew to make a big wooden model. That's the way the fighter jet form Legioss was made. But for some political reason, it didn't become the program after "Macross." Then we heard Gakken was interested in the plan and we had a presentation and finally the planning was set."

New Robotech Shadow Chronicles Vid

Bought it yesterday, watched it, and loved it. The animation is important to me, but animation in the old series was way worse than this so I cant really complain. All I can say is the proportions of the bodies are off (giant necks) and the characters were pretty stiff and rarely moved. These things will hopefully be fixed when the when the next installment comes out with a bigger budget. Overall, aside from the music, I think its pretty equal in level to TV animation you see coming out of Japan. I also first thought of Sharon Apple when I saw the Haydonites, but after Vince blasts off the robes on one, you see that they have a head and torso which HAL and Sharon do not. -
I have one, I'm just not good with it

This gets my vote for most likely. I think after the successful Garland release, Yamato can see there is a lot of interest in ARTMIC licenses. If I had my choice, I would choose MOSPEADA, but I think that license belongs to EPOCH Toys as theyre the ones who released the Toynami Superposables in Japan.

They have it in stock in their store, I was just there least week I have no idea why they list it as out of stock..

Yes, the Valk on the cover is CG and though some of the UFO catcher toys are close, none really look like that. I can scan my keychains and stuff later this week (once I get my scanner up and running) if you want to see some of them.

They did release a handful of Super Deformed UFO catcher prizes such as a Battroid model kit, a Focker VF1S Battroid figurine, a Hikaru Strike Battroid VF1S keychain, a Focker VF1S GERWALK cel phone clip, a Hikaru Strike Battroid cel phone clip, a VF1S Battroid cel phone strap, and a YF19 Battroid cell phone clip. Those are the only ones I know of, there may be more...

I could see it as a romanisation mistake if they were different scenes or another episode, but its the same scene and only for a second. Either way, its still funny

In episode 7 when Misa stands in front of Karl Ribers door it says "RIBER". After she opens it and looks inside, it says"LIVER".

One of these just popped up on Yahoo Japan Auctions. Its not a laser disc insert, but rather a promotional flyer sent to Japanese theatres to promote Macross DYRL.

You should be able to get a new barrel machined at a shop or depending on how old it is, you might get away with using a Spyder barrel with that. Otherwise I would suggest that if you get it cut, do it at a machine shop to make sure its even and that they to polish it and de-burr the inside.

Get your own Space Shuttle Orbiter
Totoro242 replied to Morpheus's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, you need a space suit to go with that shuttle: http://www.countdowncreations.com/walk_aro...spacesuit_3.htm -
Overall I did like it, but a couple of things irked me. First, I dont mind 8 foot bandannas flowing in the wind (even indoors?) all the time, but that sidekick's bandanna just floats in midair and doesn't move. That drove me nuts. Second, I'm okay with the mixture of weapons like the crossbow over/ granade launcher under or even the RPG samurai, but cel phones? I just couldnt get past that. I guess I'm too technical because I kept thnking, where is their cellular network with towers and cables? Why are they walking everywhere if they have the technological level for wireless communication? Big plusses for the music. The Rza really captured mood of each scene and I especially liked the Ennio Morricone type theme after Afro's dad got beheaded.

From the FAQ: "Section II: Off Topic Be here for the discussion of Macross. Please don?t go off topic. If your post or topic is not about Macross then it can be considered off topic and can be deleted at anytime. " The section, "Anime or Science Fiction, Closest thing here to 'Off Topic' from Megazone to Star Trek" is best for this

Personally, I always felt those prices were way over-inflated. Now I think they are going for what they are worth Thats why I didnt buy mine until recently.
