  1. Yeah, I went ahead and pre-ordered mine from Tam. If they do end up releasing more versions of this sucker, I'm going to try and resist the urge to buy them. The 1/60 line is now the step-child of my collection and, while I still think they're neat-o, I considered myself pretty much "over" the line, now that the 1/48s are coming fast and furious. Since I don't think a Q-Rau is likely in 1/48, I figured why not. However, as neat as this toy seems to be, it's no VF-1. I can't justify getting more than one variant of this if I plan to snap up every 1/48 VF-1 Yamato offers.
  2. Well, since Yamato was kind enough to include both parts (HMMP-02 pod and RO-X2A cannon), I'd say you can go based on how you feel on any given day. I'd say start with the cannon (since that is canon ) and if you get tired of it, switch to the missile pod: lather, rinse, repeat as needed.
  3. Not to burst anyone's bubble: Remembering your first valk (What was it?)
  4. I've seen them around online, but I don't know that I've seen them in person. Personally, if I want a detailed 1/48 F-14, I'd go for one of the many quality model kits available.
  5. There's a Macross Plus sign under the 1/48 low-vis too. I think it's just a Macross Zero sign for something else (most likely the Hasegawa models) that slipped into frame when the guy took the picture of the 1/60 Monster.
  6. I would suggest that you buy one 1/48 and decide for yourself because, personally, I think you're missing out. You might become addicted though, so you may also be missing out on a lot of frivilous spending. I'd say pick your favorite Valk, and get two of those (one in box and one to open) or maybe two different paint schemes of your favorite version (e.g. VF-1S Roy and VF-1S Hikaru) and open one. If you get one though, you'll soon be in danger of caving and buying all of them.
  7. After several failed attempts at a direct link, I'm forced to post this one to the store. Small Blue Planet has what appear to be the Bandai 1/65 Fire Valkyrie and the 1/65 VF-17S for $39.99 each. Seems too good to be true, but maybe I just did someone a favor (or maybe I've just overestimated their value).
  8. Oooo...pizza rolls!
  9. Like so many have already said, the 1/48 VF-1S is the way to go. You won't be disappointed. If cost is the only issue, it's well worth saving for. Don't forget, the 1A Hikaru has also undergone revisions like the Roy 1S and the Max and Low-vis 1As didn't have design issues to begin with (though good luck finding a low-vis for under $150 at this point if you can find one at all).
  10. Though, I don't think that would be considered a different Valk any more than a VF-1A with FAST packs would be considered different from a standard VF-1A. The GBP was still mounted on a VF-1J.
  11. Got an ETA on the latest batch Erick? Holidays catchin' up with you I take it? I'm looking forward to the latest offering from Takatoys.
  12. My Roy reissue had a sloppy black stripe on the port wing, much like a problem encountered with my Hikaru 1S. It isn't terrible, but it's worth mentioning.
  13. Well, in case you weren't aware, Yamato is scheduled to release a 1/60 Monster some time this year. As for a 1/48 Regult...I wouldn't hold your breath.
  14. 1/x where x = comparable scale feet, i.e. in 1/48 scale 1 actual foot (12") is equal to 48 scale feet. The bigger the number to the right, the smaller the "occupants" of the model in question would be...or is that what you were asking? As far as the scales of VF-1 available, I'd say most people think the 1/48 is the ultimate (and I tend to agree).
  15. Ahhhh...feel the enlightenment. Thanks, Ex.
  16. Do you mean this part specifically, CK, because I have it pushed in past the back plate already.
  17. To clarify: The latch in the picture won't clasp onto the backpack when it's in the high position.
  18. Well, Göönk, I appreciate the effort, but I guess I'm not making myself clear. I'm referring to the position of the backpack specifically. If I position it in the "locked" position (high position), it sits too high for the little latch to catch on to it, and therefore, when FAST packs are attached it causes the backpack to flop back from the weight.
  19. [i originally posted this in a thread about the 1/60 backpack by mistake] I've got a question. I've been collecting the 1/48 Yamatos since the release of the Max 1A (I hesitated at first). I've only just recently applied FAST packs to one in battroid mode. I realize that normally in battroid mode, the backpack folds up in a "locked" position. I just wanted to make sure: this isn't possible when the FAST packs are on right? That is, if you slide the backpack all the way up with the FAST packs on, the little flippy-do catch that's supposed to support the weight of the FAST packs can't reach the tab in the backpack that it's supposed to lock into. So the backpack stays a little lower with the FAST packs then it would without, right?

  21. I don't think this has been provided yet. I found the clear FAST packs on the Yamato site (though the pictures are pretty much the same as the ones in Graham's thread: Clear FAST packs

    1/60 CF Pilot

I always just kinda took it for granted that the pilots included in the later release Yamato 1/60 Valks wouldn't fit in the original release (Hikaru 1A, Max 1A, CF 1A), but not too long ago I took the backseater from my 1D and plopped him into my CF. He fits just fine (at least for display purposes...he might shake around a bit if I were to "swoosh" his CF).
  23. "The sport made him a legend. His heart made him a hero." Starring Roy Focker as Lane Frost.
  24. ...
  25. I didn't have any problem with it either, but I guess it has to do with the TV pilots' helmets compared to the DYRL? helmets. I haven't opened my VF-1J yet (haven't had time and I'm waiting on Takatoys' stickers) so I'm not sure if that's the case.
