  1. They stay in, but they seem really loose. I didn't have any issues with them when I got the toy, they were firmly affixed, maybe I did break it...
  2. That is an awesome idea, that would make an excellent kit plane. I now want to do that, and design a small scale VF-4 inspired kit plane for the rich and famous, patent it, and make money hand over fist...
  3. The Single engine VF I have envisioned is kind of a combination of the VF-22 in the leg and arm storage, with SV-51 inspired wings, with an intake inspired by the X-32/F-16LOAN. The Nose/cockpit area would stow much like the VF-1/11/22, with the Head turret resembling a cross between the VF-4G and VF-25F. Now it's a matter of putting pencil to paper and making it look good. On a related note, Who else thinks the SV-51 could be updated into a fantastic CAS/Anti-Ship platform? High output TN reaction engines, armed with anti ship missiles and a beam cannon like on the VF-27? I think that would make a hell of a great Special Forces mech...

  5. One reason the VF-19 is a far superior design! I love my renewal 25, it along with my 171, and 19F are my absolute favorites in my collection. Anyone got tips on how to tighten the shoulder and hip joints on a Yamato YF-19?
  6. Honestly I had to ask my dad for help finding the number. He found a 1/48th scale model, but we didn't see anything smaller. That's really cool that it's out there. Where did you get the materials to make your diorama? Is it mostly prebuilt stuff or did you custom make it?
  7. I wonder if Kurisama could be convinced to take his gun pod carriages and modify them into jammers (like the MJ-1B lift truck). I would be likely to buy those, and I'd probably make a display of them racing... Flightline guys are nuts...

  10. Oh well, in or out, makes no difference to me. I just wanted to be able to get them back in place, doesn't affect the playability of the toy any so I don't care.
  11. I agree about the battroid mode. The Rigid wings hanging out in the breeze does seem to be a hindrance. Also when you consider that VF's are typically modeled to take the form of naval fighters, with the ability to stow their wings. With the exception of the VF-17/171, though we never really see if they got a stowed wing configuration. That usually plays a role in the transformation mechanism. If you look at most helicopter designs, they're designed to auto-rotate in the event of engine failure, only the eurocopter tiger has an ejection feature. Also there have been many designs that had such an arrangement, with varying degrees of success. Not the place I'd have picked to put the intake, but I suppose I'll have to put forth my own design.
  12. The only trouble I've had with my 25 is that I can't seem to get the intake covers to snap back in.

  14. So I just discovered something about my VF-171EX (and by just I mean just, only about a minute or so ago), that's a small detail, that automatically makes the toy so much better in my eyes. Maybe making it my favorite, the back panel that has thee wings, snaps into the rear neck guard. This takes the floppy battroid that I though it was, and locks it up tight(er), making the battroid mode nice a solid under handling. I didn't know what trick the guy on Collection DX used to make it stay together, but now I do. The VF-19F just got relegated(not really, but I do like the slender looks of the Frontier valks better) to the shelf. The 19 is still a classic, and still a favorite, but the VF-171 is newer, and doesn't suffer the space samurai robot aesthetic (with the over large pauldrons, they're a bit more toned down than the 19F, more like the Y/VF-19/A). The VF-19 will figure prominently in my display, but it'll be in the case, where the 171 will probably spend most of it's time not in the case. That is when I get a display case.

  16. The v1 VF-25 looked like it's pants were too short (not an issue on the renewal), the M7 valks look like they're wearing bell bottoms (not as bad as gundam though), But the renewal line of MF valks looks darn good. Yeah, toned and athletic does seem to fit...

  20. I wasn't specifically addressing the F135 engine swap, and Mechanically speaking a half inch is pretty significant, as is 13 some inches at least. That would require a huge redesign to accommodate that engine. As Seto said, that's wide open. Though I'd tend to think that it would affect the fighter's center of gravity, because engines are such a critical component. (Look a the gun on the warthog, a jack stand is required to keep the aircraft level when the gun is removed for maintenance, just as an example).
