  1. I think I'm on the same page as Jenius, seeing a revamped version of an earlier fighter as the cannon fodder unit would be fine, while seeing an all new hero mech would be also cool. Honestly there is one grip I have about most of the Frontier designs, and that is the excessive amount of kibble on the back, I get that they were CG models, and those have to ascribe to the laws of physics, but the increasing amount of stuff hanging off the back almost makes them feel like shellformers. The VF-25 and YF-30 aren't so bad, but the VF-27 and YF-29 are just excessive. I'd like to see the new Variable fighters go back to the roots, where battroid mode is designed to be a ground combat mode, and that means it has to be able to maneuver on the ground which those big wings sticking off the back would make it hard to do. I'd also like to see more of the giant sized Zentradi, both as allies and enemies. That particular couple of episodes really stuck with me from frontier, and it would give the Zentradi mechs more screen time, which means more promising toy fodder.
  2. M7's villains were too much the saturday morning cartoon variety. Not every villain has to be the cloak and dagger type where you don't actually know what they're planning until too late. I still enjoy a bit more complexity, as it feels more real. I do like it better when the bad guys don't go around with a neon sign that says "I'M A VILLAIN!" In that aspect frontier really managed to get my attention, in the same way as SDFM did. M+ was a different kind of story, and the history between Isamu and Guld really made their animosity pop, and the resolution was great when Guld finally realized what had actually happened. M7 was very straightforward, to start with, and things began to get more complicated, but not overly so (it's been a while since I watched it, so I could be mis-remembering things). Anyway, The universe as a whole is just great, and lots of fun to explore.
  3. I saw one CWO5 while I was at Ft Campbell, and he was a really cool guy, helicopter pilot. Army CWO5's have a solid stripe through their bar. I once saw an Air Force Captain, become flabberghasted, when he saw the rank for the first time. He walked away after returning the salute, screaming something about heresy and army sorcery and may have even made mention of skulduggery... As for seeing rainbows, 4 days without sleep did that, plus an actual unicorn being ridden by a leprechaun, who may have been screaming about lucky charms and skulduggery... Kids, I'm here to tell you, never stay awake for 4 days, especially not by consuming nothing but beef jerky, monster energy, and dipping instant coffee... Anyway how about them technical references!
  4. I just placed my order for a VF-19 Advance, and I should get it in a couple of weeks, or maybe a bit sooner. I'm very excited! Now that I have a job, I can see my collection growing a bit more, but next purchase is definitely super parts for my VF-171EX. Maybe I'll try to get some super parts for my VF-25F as well.
  5. Thanks guys! Overall the reviews make it out to be a far superior toy to my Yamato YF-19, so I'm definitely getting this! /edit/ I just placed my order, and I should be seeing it in a few weeks if not sooner, as it's coming from Japan.
  6. Has anyone noticed any durability issues?
  7. It does, thanks!
  8. Maybe I'm mistaken on the F-22. In my little world the thing may as well have been a unicorn, like a CWO5. People say they exist, but no one has ever really seen one...
  9. Well, If I'm not mistaken we still have 26 and 28, as well as 23, so we could see some numbers show up there...
  10. Ah, that makes more sense. Again, I wouldn't be unhappy with that. Though that big missile thingy kinda screams support unit to me... I dunno, maybe I'm just a sucker for the sleek birds of yore, in the days of "ye olde Macross".
  11. I'd also be interested to know, as the only thing that keeps me from arcadia is their price tag...
  12. Since I'm not familiar with the whole of the 0 series, if it's following typical naming conventions the 0C would be a Single seat version of the 0D?
  13. So this question is for VF-19 Advance owners, have you noticed any durability issues with this toy, any areas I should be concerned about? I know the Toy hasn't been out long, so issues may not have shown up but help would be appreciated. I'm fixing to order one soon.
  14. If the VF-11 armor would fit on the earlier Yamato VF-11C, I would buy it. But I'd think Arcadia would want to re-release the VF-11 before they did Armor parts for it, unless they did already and I missed it...
  15. I agree with Graham though, a low vis VF-19Advance would be big for me, I'd probably buy it.
  16. Yeah, unless I can get it for real cheap, I'd rather just get the armor parts.
  17. I'm just going to imagine that the VF-19 advance is a VF-19A hero custom (which I think is a pretty safe assumption). Also the M7 VF-19's are a later models, optimized for space combat. IIRC the VF-19A,B,C,&D all closely resembled the original prototype, while the E,F,&S departed more from the original, for ease of manufacture (I don't know how true all of this is, most of it is probably conjecture and stuff cobbled together from various sources). VF-19Advance = VF-19A with updated technology and some simplified components.
  18. I wouldn't be unhappy with that. But then what would the Hero mech be?
  19. You... Seem to like raining on my parades don't ya?
  20. SILENCE! Let us have our fun... You're right of course, but who's to say that it might not actually be the basis for a real world design that revolutionizes sub-orbital flight?
  21. I don't either, but a design that stows the wings a bit more cleanly would be nice. A bit of mechanical finagling might have produced a cleaner transformation. That's just a purely aesthetic thing for me, as I still like the VF-25, and the CGI models give us a better sense of how it would actually work, and make them a bit more organic (thus allowing the suspension of disbelief to be easier). I actually prefer the thinner proportions of the newer valks, reducing the "John Travolta Feet" (the term my dad gave to the leg designs on Japanese mecha, and the first thing he noticed, always did it to get at me, since he thought they were reminiscent of bellbottom pants) problem.
  22. The reaction engine also troubles me too. but there's some stuff earlier in this topic about it, as well as a ton of speculation here.
