  1. Don't feel bad. That's about how I feel when all of my computer scientist/engineer friends start talking about stuff. Also electricity:
  2. I have to say these look beautiful. Does the armor fit on a V2 Yamato? I can't imagine that it wouldn't. I have a v2 Yamato Roy Focker with Super parts, and I'm tempted to get a MtF VF-1J head from Kurisama and do my own VF-1J Focker Custom, If only I had the GBP armor...
  3. If I'm reading this the way it was intended, I think that the bolded part was left off but implied. I have to agree with some of what has already been said, it's a marketing thing, they're sticking you with morton's fork (take it or leave it). At this point for a VF-2SS toy, we have only this one option. There are plenty of model kits, sure, but this is the only toy. Mommar is right, it's a niche market, and it's probably undercapitalized. That said, there's simply too much risk involved versus the amount of reward. Now, they might not see some of the potential reward, because they might just be focusing on the Japan and Asia market, not realizing the broader international market for Macross toys, because of Harmony Gold's deathgrip on distribution rights in the western world. Also If I'm not mistaken, this is Evolution Toys first foray into Macross, so they might not be that familiar with the Macross market at all (sure they probably did all kinds of market research, but research will only go so far). Given that Macross 2 was one of the very few macross titles to be dubbed in English, I think that if anything, Evolution may have underestimated the market demand for their offering. Think about it, why do VF-1, YF-19, YF-21, VF-11B, toys sell so well? It's because a larger viewership has seen them, and that means a broader customer base wants them. The variants of those toys, sell well because of familiarity, and because of die hard fans like those of us on this forum. That's just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.
  4. I ask, because it looks like it would make a really good attacker, rather than a fighter, with the big gun, large wing surface for carrying lots of ordnance, and that canister, which on the CG models and toys I've seen only carries small missiles, but seems to me that it could be used for all sorts of missionized payloads, bomb bay, radome, EW suite, photo-reconnaissance gear, or other stuff. Honestly I hate multi-role fighters, if you build a jet to do multiple things it will end up doing nothing very well. That aircraft like the F-15 and F-16 are good at air to ground missions is by happenstance. They're better fighters than they are bombers. F-15E not included, as it was optimized for the strike mission, and the F-16 CJ/DJ are also optimized for the SEAD mission, so they don't count either. I suppose that's the key though, they set out to build good, decently fast (though not the Mach 2+ aircraft that were prevalent during the 2nd and 3rd generations), maneuverable fighters. The ability to turn and escape is a hallmark of good ground attack aircraft, like the A10, AV-8B, Su-25 and others. The downside the F-15 and F-16 have compared to dedicated ground attack aircraft is their small payload.
  5. Sketchley, have you migrated anything from your old site? I'm curious to know where the VF-19 Master file translations went, as I'd like to know what's contained in the book I just bought... /edit/ nevermind I just found all of it... Don't mind me I"m just dumb, asking questions before clicking links... /edit/edit/ What book has information on the Caliburn?
  6. I realize that what drone operators do is important, and that they contribute a lot. This definitely looks interesting, and is a largely ignored topic. From the guys I've spoken to that have become drone operators (especially the guys that flew, A10's, F15's, and F16's mostly) they hate it. I heard a lot of those sentiments echoed in this trailer, which is pretty cool. Most pilots don't like that they've been relegated to the "RC Plane Club". Psychologically it's gotta be tough to deal with the reality that your bird is half a world away, dropping bombs. In many ways it's easier to be deployed flying manned air support missions, than to be able to just pull the trigger from half a world away, then go home and see the family. I'm curious to see how they execute this, without it becoming an over dramatized joke.
  7. If you had measurements, could you be convinced to make your missiles for Bandai toys as well?
  8. Yeah. It's on Amazon for 255, which I'd be ok paying that, but 182-ish sounds a hell of a lot better. I guess I'm just not looking in the right places. Anyhow, That's for much later, as I'm really hot on the Frontier era valks. I just ordered the VF-19 Advance that I've been wanting, and the VF-27 Lucifer is probably next with some super parts for my VF-171EX.
  9. I see some things in there that I very much would like to have! the VF-27 Lucifer being one, and Super Parts for the VF-171EX being the other...
  10. Which explains why spacecraft use a lot of cryogenic agents. Makes a ton of sense to me now. Also to sell toys. I meant in universe... (smartasses... )
  11. Nah, Kawamori already said the 19 looked too heroic. Though it would be great if it made an appearance.
  12. No I do not, but I'm sure I could get a set, and I don't even have the toy in hand yet. I'm sure I'd end up using the calipers for something else (hand loading ammo), so once I get all that I can get those measurements to you.
  13. I'm seriously considering the Hi-Metal line to fill out my VF-1 Collection, seeing as they seem far more available than the 1/60th toys. I'd love to have A GBP VF-1 set, but arcadia's is darn near $300 now, and will probably only keep rising.
  14. Waiting for my VF-19 Advance and VF-19 Master File book!

  15. Or maybe not as a CF valk, but definitely not the Hero mech. The YF-30 seems like it's more of a bomber or attacker than a fighter. It should have been the YA-30, instead...
  16. * As a housekeeping note, I'd love to edit the title of this post to be more of a general VF discussion thread as that's what it's become, but I don't know how, or even if I can. If I can't could a mod please do so.* I'm curious, what role was the YF-30 designed to fill?
  17. So did the VF-19EF have EX gear, or did it use a conventional cockpit? Were the armaments different from the other VF-19 variants?
  18. Yeah, the VF-2SS is a pretty sexy bird...
  19. A VF-11 with armor set would be exceedingly nice to have. I love my VF-11 so having a second one to display the armor would be amazing. Last I heard the Yamato VF-11C was going for more than twice what I paid, so it's nice to see that it's worth something!
  20. So, I'm really hung up on the VF-19 Advance from the second frontier movie, what if any advancements over the YF-19/VF-19A/B/C/D do you think there would be? Speculation on the additional super parts? Also what are the tube things along the side of the torso in battroid mode?
  21. I'd be interested in the YF-19 arm cannons for the new Bandai VF-19 Advance. I know you said you weren't planning on doing any bandai stuff, but that would be really cool.
  22. I still want super parts for my VF-25F and my VF-171EX, as they just complete the package... But I ordered a VF-19 Advance today, and I await it eagerly...
