  1. Bingo. I have mornings like that every now and then. Last time someone almost died... How's it feel to talk to people in the past...?
  2. Saw some pictures of the VF-19 Advance, the forearms have a contour to them that might prove tricky. Just a heads up, it might not work.
  3. That is fantastic, and the colors look like they belong there. If Yamato had done this I would have bought one. I can see Bandai doing a Roy Custom of their VF-19 Advance release, which would be an insta-buy, along with a Low Vis...
  4. Tandem Double Ejector Racks makes a bit more sense than rails though, as the last thing you want is to bathe the front of the aft missile in flame from the rocket exhaust and compromise the missile.
  5. I think a VF-4 with attachable gunpod would be amazing. Mostly because I'd love to have a shot at the VF-4...
  6. If that was the Bu.No. for Roy's bird, then yes. As long as that hasn't changed, it's technically the same bird, regardless of how many times or how extensively it has been repaired. Balls-8 is still Balls-8, even though every part on that plane has probably been rebuilt or replaced since Dad flew it. Balls-8 (B-52H, T/N 008) was a plane my dad flew when he was stationed at Wurtsmith AFB. I later laid hands on it while I was at Barksdale.
  7. I really need to get a few of these for my Yamato Valks (VF-1, VF-11, and VF-19). I could also get the DX kits for my DX valks too, just to make them better.
  8. Who's to say they're still using the same jammers that we are today... Maybe they have more precision...
  9. Essentially new yes, but in aviation you can destroy everything except the id plate, replace everything else, and it's still "the same aircraft" As long as the BuNo is the same, it's the same aircraft... Thank God for BuNo's, then we don't have to go into the whole Ship of Theseus paradox...
  10. Well, I wouldn't try to live in a country where I can't communicate effectively. As of right now, my Japanese language skills are so poor a 3 year old is more conversational than I. I am trying to remedy that. I guess I overestimated how much the Japanese try to exclude foreigners (or maybe it's location dependent). Anyway, It would be really cool to own a Nerdist pub anywhere.
  11. The VF-1 could carry 2 RMS-1's on one hardpoint (total loadout of 6 missiles), so nothing says a YF-30 couldn't do the same with newer generation missiles. Also, Grig, the problem you described occurred on the B-52 as well, with putting TERs on the wing stations. They disabled the inboard ejector, so the bomb would just drop from the station rather than eject. I'm sure there were instances where they did the same with the F-16 (I'm pretty sure I've seen fully loaded TERs on F-16s in pictures, don't remember where, it might be a local policy to only load 2 bombs, or I'm mistaken). There are ejector racks that are tandem TERs. To me it looks like there is enough space that you could mount tandem DERs (4 missiles 2x2) of reaction missiles and one Dimension cutter outboard. The Dimension cutter would be too big, I think, to do a DER or tandem arrangement. The Tandem arrangement would likely be an inboard thing only, as there's enough wing area to support that pylon. The way everyone wants to pose the missile pack, that is transverse to the axis of motion, feels weird to me, I'd position the pod along the central axis, with the missiles firing to the sides, similar to the way the Q-Rau/Q-Rhea and GBP sets do it. With the missiles being all high maneuverability (compared to, say, an AIM-9) this wouldn't pose much of a problem, except maybe in atmo, but then you'd have all that drag to worry about instead. That's why I felt the YF-30 seems to lend itself to that thinking, maybe not as much as the VF-27 with it's BFG, but close.
  12. I should have been more clear. I was talking about working. From what I understand there aren't a ton of opportunities in Japan for foreigners.
  13. I knew that about the Yamato/Arcadia YF-19 super parts, but I didn't know that about the Bandai. The reviews I saw made no mention of it being gappy with the super parts attached in fighter mode, and they didn't show that either. Ah well, it's no harm done, I'm sure the toy is plenty fun even with the gap issues.
  14. I think I'll probably get a 27 before a 30, just because I really want an enemy mech from frontier. Also the 27 has that look of an attack aircraft with a BFG, that just needs to be in my collection. The 30 is definitely got a place, I just need to prioritize...
  15. Just because it's one hardpoint, doesn't mean it's only one station. It is possible that the wings and hardpoints might be able to support more weight (like the F-15E, or F-16XL).
  16. Damn it! Ah well, Doesn't mean it can't be done again.
  17. It may have been mentioned, but has anyone looked at the Textron Airland Scorpion, as a possible replacement aircraft for the US Air National Guard? That would free up some more F-15's, F-16's, and A-10's for the active duty guys to use, and the Active Duty components could use it to supplement their ground based CAS missions...
  18. I now feel like this could, and should be done, if it has not been so already... I also feel that this could probably be one of the few things a foreigner could do in Japan...
  19. This has very quickly become one of my favorite shows, and I just saw the movie not too long ago. I found it very refreshing to see a well adjusted and competent crew, and it was good to see that the protagonists took a beating every now and then. There wasn't a ton of needless drama, which was nice. Overall definitely a recommend from me.
  20. I'm sold, I want one now. I haven't played the game, though I would love to. Now if I had more money... Also to find a source!
