Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Valkyrie Driver replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
I see what you're saying. The point I was kind of getting at was that what we see on screen and what the characters might perceive is different. All I really know is what I've seen in the animation, which I have to admit, I haven't seen in a while (I like to rewatch stuff every now and then). I've been watching some other stuff recently, getting my girlfriend to watch some of the sci-fi I grew up with (ST:DS9 and Stargate SG-1, neither of which are difficult, she's a huge sci-fi nerd).- 2715 replies

So, which is better overall? Arcadia YF-19 or Bandai VF-19 Advance
Valkyrie Driver replied to takatoys's topic in Toys
After watching Jenius's review of the Arcadia YF-19, I'm really happy with my decision to get the VF-19Adv. It looks like Arcadia, while some of their stuff is as good as yamato's later offerings, they seem to be making questionable decisions, and making a lot of quality control errors. Which is really bad for an expensive toy. Jenius brought up that there is considerable aggravation when dealing with the wings on the arcadia, and how floppy the wing joint is, and how those often touted external stores, exacerbate the situation. I'm just happy to have a good perfect transformation Y/VF-19 toy. -
The Newbie and Short Questions thread
Valkyrie Driver replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
So, after reading the last few comments, I have to ask: 1. Do we know how many SDF-1 type ships were built? Did it become a Class of it's own? 2. Did SDF-2 get skipped because of the Megaroad? 3. If the SDF-2 was the Megaroad, was the Megaroad a class unto itself, and how did that affect construction of additional Macross type ships?- 6983 replies

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Valkyrie Driver replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
Who's to say what a superdimensional space fold would look like. In the original SDFM the ships just disappeared and reappeared in a different location. As for what the pilot or crew would experience, it's never really been touched on. I envisioned it more like how BattleTech novels describe the Jump. Like Winking out of existence, and being bombarded by colors and sounds that are familiar and altogether alien, and like watching the universe expand before your eyes, and it seeming like an eternity and seconds all at the same time. That's before the sensation of rapid deceleration as reality is slammed back into your mind, and the ride is just over as you wink back into existence at a different location. The whole experience fades away just as fast as it began. The glowing tunnel of multicolored lights, might just be the best way the animators could think to show what the unreality of superdimension space looks like.- 2715 replies

I misremebered the battletech Scale. I am looking for 1/285, but I'd like a few Y/VF-19A Excaliburs and VF-17/171's in this scale so that I can have some custom LAM's for my battletech gaming. Also because I really like painting minis, and think they'd be fun to do.
-
I guess that's fair. I kinda was hoping for something a bit more, I guess. I mean what does the VF-5000 offer that the VF-11 doesn't?

That gets me the fighters, but I would also want the gerwalk and battroid modes too. Any thoughts?
-
Maybe someone has done this already, but I was thinking about what it would take to produce some Minis (about 1/255 scale). I really want them for a different application (namely battletech miniature games). Who has some expertise in what this would entail?
-
Same.
-
Are we in for more back kibble? It looks great, and I'll definitely want one, but I don't want to see more back kibble designs, bring back the clever VF's.

Just curious, why? And given space constraints, how? I've been on a bit of a battletech kick, so building loadouts has been my thing right now, so I'm just curious.

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
Valkyrie Driver replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
I saw the trailer this morning. It looks stunning, I see what looks like a higher ratio of Zentradi characters to human ones, which is cool, I also saw some of the old school battlepods which was also very cool. Trying to figure out what was actually going on, as far as teasers left me feeling confused and violated (but maybe that was my two tough exams over the past couple of days, but I digress). The Fighters look pretty cool, but I'm not so sure about the character designs, one team looks like the typical Macross Idol, while the other looks like something out of Code Geass. I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but just going off of the current stuff I'm going to go out on a limb and say this one's gonna be a bit weird.- 2715 replies

That's kinda what I was getting at. That's kinda what I'm getting at, except that you have to remember that it is a turbine so you'd need the ring topology around the turbine shaft. Gravity might be the way the reaction is started and maintained, but don't get so hung up on that that you miss out on a good idea or possible explanation, just because it's not explicitly stated. There is a ton of vagueness in much of the technologies.

Remember this video was made for the layperson. Even Nuclear Submarines need to refuel eventually, so yeah. While true, gravity, much like magnetism, occurs in a field, and that might give us some insight into how the TN reaction in the Turbine is happening. And might help us understand it through some good old human know how. Just because it isn't perfect doesn't mean it's not valid.

Who's your favorite Macross Character?
Valkyrie Driver replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
No problem, I get confused sometimes too. Just trying to make sure we didn't confuse anyone. -
Here's something else that was interesting on the fusion power front. Stellerator Reactor. Might provide some insight into how a Thermonuclear reaction engine might work, in addition to the information we have from the technical books.

Who's your favorite Macross Character?

You mean the Macross 7 versions of Max and Exedol? Max and Exedol were not in frontier, as far as I can remember. -
