Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
From what I have read the first 3 movies are supposed to expand on episodes or material already covered. The 4th is supposed to be completely new content. As for Lucas and Star Wars.... you can only watch guys play with glowsticks for so long before you realize it never was any good to begin with. Rob -
If its Voltron related, I probably have it, or had it at one time. The old Matchbox III set, or the Bootleg Go-Lion set. The Trendmasters Remake, and now the Toynami release. The Trendmasters set was literally a rerelease of the old Matchbox III Voltron, with pastel colors instead of the darker metallic shades, and these stupid metal tabs on the arms (Green & Red) besides that they are almost exactly the same. From what I have read the TM versions had some QC issues in regards to voltron literally falling apart, but just like its original you could beat someone silly with it. As for the Toynami voltron, I dunno its still sitting in its box, which might I add looks nice. Thats about it, I don't wanna break it and it will eventually end up like every other Toynami item I have ever purchased.... sold to someone else. If you can still find it get yourself a Knockoff Go-Lion set, this was the best of both worlds it had the heavy diecast, plus it wasnt neutered like the Matchbox verson was. Rob

lol super shredder good call. Just an observation here, but what the hell are these things that they claim to be TF's? They look more like something out of BGC then Transformers. What happened to the old G1 styles where you could tell what they were prior to going to vehicle mode? Pardon my ignorance as a non TF fanboy but seriously what are they doing to these characters, am I wrong in assuming that most people going to see this movie (besides kids) will be adults who were fans back in the day? So far none of the characters in this movie have anything to do with their predecessors besides the color schemes. Your average movie goer who watches this out of fond childhood memories is going to be left going WTF!?!? like I just was doing before I stumbled across this thread. Rob I think we need a new option on the poll called WTF!?!?

Its actually a pretty nice figure. The bike is actually mostly diecast and has some good detail. A friend of mine picked one up for about $80 from a convention about 3 months ago. lmk what your asking price is I might be interested. Rob

Actually you'd probably get more enjoyment out of it, if it was a laxative. I have only seen the first 5 dvds so I can't comment on the end of the series, but the first 4 dvds the plot goes absolutely nowhere, and #5 gets mildly interesting. I would call this a NOIR clone but the problem is I liked NOIR, and this series is just blah. Rob

Afterburner returns
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Afterburner was hands down my favorite arcade game when I was growing up. I liked it so much I bought an Afterburner II upright. I had a sitdown but I was never able to find the parts I needed to get it working correctly so I sold it. Still amuses me with the cheesy 80's techno, and the topgun screenshots. Rob -
Well I can't honestly say I have ever seen a Hentai title. The closest I came to that was a screening of Kite, and that went along the lines of plot, plot, plot, PRON, plot, plot. And in the end I was left thinking WTF!?! and then I really started researching titles that people recommended before I watched them . Seriously though who cares what people think, they'll get over it. Rob

The Self-Hating Anime Fan Club
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Roy Focker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm not sure if this supposed to be a serious thread or a joke, either way I am quite amused. I personally find it funny that anyone who visits this board can even judge someone else's hobby and come off sounding serious liks some of the prior posts. I mean seriously what is MW? its a place that people can get together and discuss an ANIME TV series from the early 80's, as well as all Toys and other merchandise. So the last time I checked "Toy" collecting wasn't a line to pick up chicks. Remember the line "People who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones." And guess what, I like Macross, I have a collection of Macross toys, and I am an Anime Fan. I don't need to justify it to anyone nor do I honestly value the opinions of people who mean nothing to me. But don't worry I'll try to find something "cool" to get into let me go ask Agent One he seems to be in the know. Rob otaku 4 life in the hiznouse -
The OTAKON Post-Convention Thread
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I ended up catching the tail end of the macross panel, but I did see the DRYL Minmay Cosplayer. I actually thought this year was better then last year, primarily due to the fact that I was actually able to get into the panels I wanted to unlike last year. What I did find amusing though was that there was actually a line, to get into the line for the dealers room on Friday. I was also able to score some not yet released material thanks to a buddy of mine who works within the industry which is always a bonus. One thing I did notice was the complete lack of any 1/48 scale valks. HLJ had a variable monster going for the normal price of $130 which went pretty quickly. Also nobody had the valkyries artbook which was dissapointing. The one thing I noticed this year, was the number of booths selling Airsoft guns, and swords I think I counted about 9 or 10 different vendors. Rob -

Macross 7: Is it really that bad?
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to farmer_yohei's topic in Movies and TV Series
And we, like you Agent One are doing the same... Macross 7 at times sucked, and at times it got good. I wouldn't go as far to say it was G-gundam though, that was pretty harsh. I still don't get the total anger against it though there is alot worse in the way of anime out there. Rob -
final shirt design
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Solscud007's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Put me down for one as well 3x or largest size avail. Thanks Rob -
Yea I'll be there again, might be my last year though way too many people last year and that killed the enjoyment factor. Hopefully this year I can at least get into see a few things. Rob

After Burner Coin-Op
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Stampeed Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
JB0 thanks for the info, the link alone solved 2 of my major issues, now unfortunately another issue popped up. Rob -
Ok, if this is in the wrong place mods feel free to move it. Looking for Help with an After Burner II upright coin op that I just got my mitts on. I am looking for anything and everything about this game. Primarily Owner's manual and Schematics. Also if anyone knows of any parts sites that would be helpful. The game itself is in excellent condition considering its 18 years old, needs some minor work hence the schematics. I appreciate any help. Rob

This has to be the funniest thing I have seen on the net in awhile. Would definately bring more girls into gaming. Now the real trick is to have it be multiplayer on the net.... lol or better yet the multitap . Rob

Will DYRL movie do better if shown in the States
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to treatment's topic in Movies and TV Series
Appleseed was a bad movie??? ...right ok back to the topic at hand. As long as anime movies get limited releases like GITS 2 and Appleseed, its no wonder box office sales are horrible. At least GITS 2 was released to more then 5 theatres nationwide, I consider myself lucky that I only had to drive and hour to go and see it. I ended up going to see Appleseed last weekend with other members from our local anime club. There were 10 of us, and 11 people in the theatre. Rob -
Your Views on the Ending of ZERO
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to Sweekz's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ok finally finished watching this OVA, first thought that comes to mind....WTF!?!? 2nd thought that comes to mind, In parts 4 and 5 this series started going off on a tree hugging tangent like Arjuna, are all future anime's from Kawamori gonna have some sort of nature kick in them? I am not even gonna try to think of a logical conclusion for this OVA, because there is none, like I said earlier WTF? Parts 1,2,3 were good, not great but good. Part 4 lame, Part 5.....did I mention WTF??? My 2 cents. Rob -
lol Lord of the flies in space eh? lol too bad there weren't any pudgy kids nicknamed piggy that get whacked in Ryvius. I really liked this anime, I would consider this more of a sleeper title since its not really well known. I personally liked how everything fell into place in the end, and the plot was pretty interesting. Rob
-
Sepiroth yours looks legit. I wasn't aware that they were bootlegging this. But then again no real shock if its true. Rob
-
I also prefer Eva over Rahxephon, but back on topic... Infinite Ryvius, Geneshaft, Last Exile. Rob

Still plodding along in this game, will have to say one thing that I just recently encountered playing AC5. On the desert mission I was tailing a Vulcan or whatever the bomber besides the B52 is and it dove towards the ground, flew into the ground and then flew back out of the ground like it wasnt even there. Amused the hell out of me, would have to be the first time I have seen that in any of these games. Rob

Ok on the rescue Nagase mission I keep running out of time. The radio chatter starts changing and it seems like I am getting closer to her but time keeps running out. Any trick to this or where is she located? As for the Demons or Razgriz mission (aka kill the sub) that mission had me for awhile, most of the time just took too much damage, others ran out of time again. Other then that the rest of the game has been ok for me. Rob
