What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So 3rd Season of Snafu is delayed, same thing with 2nd season of No Guns no life. Combine that with Re:zero's delay.. and I am quickly running out of things I want to watch for Spring 2020. I did pick up Sakura Wars for this season but yet to watch it. Same thing with Glepnir. On the virtual group watching front, almost done with Date a Live season 2.. Next is the movie, if we can find it. -

Well Shana got put off. Apparently I got sucked into doing a group viewing of Date-a-Live via webex... lol Just wrapping up S1, this has always a series I have wanted to see the source material for, so many plot holes in the 1st season. Things get brought up, to never get mention again. I get that Shido was adopted into Kotori's family, but what does Mana (supposedly his real sister) have to do with any of this? She just up and dissapears after Kurumi gets introduced. The answer is probably convoluted.. regardless S1 was pretty good.. S2 is meh, the movie was not bad, and Season 3 more meh. -
Convertors Transforming Toy Line (Select)
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to fifbeat's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I had, and still have in a bin somewhere a bunch of these, and I clearly remember the miscolored valkyries. And some really dumb transforming robot ideas.. thought that as a kid and looking back now still do. Including rocks.. which thanks to the video above was called rocklords? Things must have been getting desperate at that point. -

Just Finished Isekai Quartet S2.. and at the very end they announced S3. 1st season was better IMO, I think S2's biggest drawback was the introduction of Shield Hero. Raphtalia and Filo fit right in with the rest of the cast but Naofume's character was totally out of place. Good thing they only showed him briefly. This season's Best Character.. Ram. Though Rem is still Best Girl.. -

End of season time. Finished Ishuzoku Reviewers probably the best thing I watched this season. If you can get past being a prude there is much funny to be found here. Finished Kyokou Suiri, This series started with much promise and was initially holding my interest. Maybe a little less then halfway through the show it really fell apart, and TBH really turned into a slog to get to the finish. On the final episode of Murenase! Seton Gakuen, and not really impressed with this one either. It however does have a leg up.. (pun intended) on Kyokou Suiri as it never got to be a chore to watch. On the Final few episodes of Season 4 of Zero no Tsukaima, early seasons show their age but are still entertaining, the final season is trying to wrap up a few loose ends but going by memory the ending is pretty out there. -
Star Trek: Picard (CBS All-Access)

Wow, I only got 1 episode into Star Trek Piccard and it didn't seem like something I would care about. I even gave Discovery a viewing of its first season and never went back. Oh well.... guess Trek is dead.- 2171 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Stampeed Valkyrie replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So after a fairly lengthy discussion about certain VA's Rie Kugimiya was brought up, and I started going back through titles she has voiced in for the heck of it. I've been watching and I'm currently on the 4th and Final season of Zero no Tsukaima.. with Shakugan no Shana probably not far behind. It's been some time since I have viewed either of these titles so going back and blowing the dust off. I figured I would stay on that vane and maybe put Toradora after Shana. Interesting seeing everything she has done, obviously in FMA, but other titles like Vandread, and Utawarerumono.. even Hand Maid May (may have to add that one after Toradora). -

Any list that includes the smart phone series as a must watch isekai is a total fail. And did the Author even bother to watch Angel Beats? I get the impression they "copy pasta'd" just about everything in that summary. They leave out titles like Escaflowne and ReZero for Smartphone... phhht. -

Blend S was pretty good.. I probably would have picked up the blu-rays but Aniplex and all... Promare, was a typical over the top Trigger feature. Turn your brain off and go along for the ride.. lol My 81 year old Aunt saw a preview of it when it was in theaters. She wanted to go so I took her... her words were something like.. "I didn't understand any of it, but it was colorful.. lol. As for next Season.. I have several I will be watching.. the aforementioned SNAFU season 3. ReZero 2nd season. Kaguya-sama season 2. Gleipnir (sp?) and the latest entry into the Sakura Wars franchise. And mix in several shows as the season progresses from other feedback. The final FSN Heavens feel movie comes out very shortly soon. I'll probably catch the double feature of the first 2 and then roll right into the 3rd. -

Kinda slow on my part for the anime watching.. Finally started the latest season of Railgun.. not even 3 episodes in and I'm reminded of why this entire franchise gets on my nerves. 2D main characters, more organizations with silly one word english names with no relevance after 2 episodes... in this instance MISSION... lol wtf? and sorry @Hikaru Ichijo SL I know Misaka is your thing.. but Shirai(?) is probably the single most annoying anime character ever created.. ok besides the main character from Angel Links.. Its hard for me to follow chronologically because of all the other spinoffs, who knows what and where we are in the story progression. I was hesitant to start this season because of the train wreck that Index III turned into, but I will probably slog it out.. hopefully it gets better. -
Kitz Concept Robotech Toy Line

It looks good. I have been happy with the line so far, and I haven't had any "issues".. so that makes 2 (knocks on wood) Honestly though, your paying $120ish for a toy.. compare that to what $300-$400+ for the closest competitor and it holds its own. Combine that with KC Customer Service actually helping with some members here on MW.. try getting Bandai to do that. Remember folks... here on MW Bandai can do no wrong.. and the newcomer never gets any breaks... lol- 1588 replies

I went and saw Violet Evergarden I: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll in theatres a few days ago. Overall not bad, but IMO not real great either. I enjoyed the Violet Evergarden series as a whole, but this made for a rather dull entry as a movie. Also finally got a chance to see Re:ZERO Memory Snow OVA It was a very lighthearted entry to the Re:Zero Series and I think it did rather well. I still want to see the Frozen Bonds OVA before the 2nd season hits. -

I picked up the original Tenchi Muyo OVA's on blu-ray over the holidays on the cheap. So I figured I would give it a go, definately do show their age, but are still enjoyable. I always liked the OVA's and the follow up OVA's but never was much of a fan for any of the TV series. Moving on.. I was gifted the Ero-manga sensei blu-rays over the same holiday period. I remember watching them when they first came out, and it was OK. Going back now and only a few episodes in.. this series has a VERY high skeeve factor. It's not all bad, but the target audience here gives me the creeps. -

Well it is a Harem title.. harkens back to the days of Love Hina and the like. It wasn't all that bad, I enjoyed it enough to keep at it. Ground Breaking no.. but you need to set your expectations. As for the resolving the ending.. my understanding is that the manga isn't done yet, Personally I am rooting for the teacher.. lol -
Gasaraki, the OP is probably my strongest memory of this show. It wasn't particularly bad, but it tried to have some "meta" type elements and I don't think it pulled it off very well. The mecha were pretty interesting and not way out spacey there like Gundam.. mostly because it was supposed to be sold as a modern day possibility utilizing current technology. There was a scene where one of these had an air battle with some Russian styled Flankers.. that was pretty interesting.

meh, I am on the fence with these things.. I played RT RPG tactics a handful of times, and the big chore was building them.. But did I play it enough to justify the cost of admission at $10 a figure... probably not.

Finished No Guns Life and Shinchou Yuusha. No Guns life was probably my choice for best of Fall 2019 anime season. Shinchou Yuusha felt like there was s disconnect somewhere between episode 9 and 10. And IMO it really hurt the ending flow of the series. But all in all not bad. -

While I am still enjoying their releases.. IMO what originally sold me on KC were the SD figures. I'd love to see the GBP SD figure get released at some point. Sucks really considering most of the SD line is dried up or waaaay overpriced.- 1588 replies

Mayo Chiki wasn't bad. It had its moments unlike most of this anime season. So I wrapped up Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo. There are just so many things that I find wrong with this series.. between unlikable characters.. extremely weak secondary characters.. And character art that literally creeped me out. The plot or lack of any pretty much dominated the 2nd half.. so if Saekano was the good way to handle a harem type anime.. this series is the exact opposite. Spoiler.. it ends on a cliff hanger... double spoiler... it still didn't make any sense. -

Macross 7... umm yeah where to begin with that one. This was the macross low point for me that was just replaced by Delta. What I always thought was funny was how people would knock Macross 2, but be gaga over Macross 7.. I am still churning through anime I picked up cheaply last year.. Log Horizon... 8 episodes in and its not bad. -

I hear ya, most of the cars I have been dabbling in lately are 30+ years old and just about all of them are manual. Only recent exception was an 1982 280ZX. Probably would have held it longer if it was manual. -
