Nice!!! I've gotta get a set!!
-
I wonder if they will record it? Would love to hear a cd from the event. I SOOO want to go to this, the music in Macross is just incredible. Listen to the soundtracks all the time at work on my headphones, makes it very easy to concentrate.

Google isn't doing to well for me here-Macross stamp frames? Anyone have any ideas what this is? (related to the concert coming up in Sep) https://www.post.japanpost.jp/kitte_hagaki/stamp/frame/detail.php?id=274 Shawn

Well at the moment, the auction was ended, was probably bought by someone local at the shop it was held at? (was BookOff) Will have to keep our eyes peeled for anything like that again!

All the 1/2000s are called Replica Prototype Kits, so not entirely sure it is 'the/a' Yamato 1/2000 prototype. Having a label on the box doesn't imply its a one-off proto in my humble opinion, but who knows. Sure would like a cleaner pic of that label!! I'm leaning towards the Sankyo kit. Looks like it might have been offered in some sort of mail in campaign...if google translate can be trusted(it can't) S

its ok...I'm probably the #1 lurker here

I think it might be the 1/2000 Sankyo version? http://akibahobby.net/2009/12/yamato_showroom3_macross.html http://www.moeyo.com/article/29577 On the red label, in the lower right corner that is very similar to the shape/color of the Sankyo logo... I think I had never heard of the Sankyo version. What do you think? S

Browsing YJA, ran across this https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v511827806 YAMATO 【完全変形】SDF-1 マクロス 1/2000 プロトタイプ レプリカキット I've never seen this variation of the kit-do you think it is an original? Early WF release? A recast? Shawn

Fantastic find, I just saw the ebay auction! Crazy how things get tucked away from history. Kevin had some really incredible items during this golden age. He really made a great impact on a lot of fans outside of Japan. (I loved the Books Nippon collection I won from thewilburness, really took me back) Someday would love to read the entire script, best of luck on the sale! S

This is sort of off-topic, but wanted to reach out to those who might know. I picked up an early 80's Sears Wish Book catalog, and it was pretty amazing to browse the old toys they have listed inside. Got me thinking.... Is/Was there an equivalent type set of stores in Japan in the early 80's that would have produced a 'wish book' type catalog? Would be interesting to see if such a thing exists. Thanks!! Shawn

Anyone going to this concert? I think it would be incredible to hear the music performed live... http://macross.jp/news/?id=601 http://macross.jp/special/orchestra2017/ Arghhh

I've been using Celga.com (http://www.celga.com/) for well over 10 years. They are super nice, and pack everything very well (they aggregate multiple items for shipping). You can even get something called a 'Gold Account', where you can have your very own Yahoo Japan login/password and bid on anything anytime. Link the account to your CC and everything just happens auto-magically. We get all the items we sell each year at the Con to recoup the server costs through them. Their fees are slightly higher ($5-$10) for some tiers, but the convenience of bulk shipping more than makes up for that, at least for me. Tell them MW recommended you if you do try them out. And don't bid on my stuff either!!!! ha

Anyone get this yet? Curious as to what is inside. Thanks! Shawn

Macross DYRL TV Special Finally online! Have to watch!
Shawn replied to Shawn's topic in Movies and TV Series
barurutor, unfortunately we get an access denied message, from the US at least. That would explain why the video I found had the songs removed, so it would not get flagged by Victor's robots. (oh and please don't mention how to get around this restriction here, we respect their copyrights) -
Macross DYRL TV Special Finally online! Have to watch!

For those trying to match up the translation to the video, it appears the copy I had was missing the first segment! So start with the PDF when they come back from the first commercial break at 6:36. Shawn -
So the infamous DYRL TV Special is finally out of the bag! Someone posted their version online! For the old timers, if you remember our good friend Seiichi, he provided me a copy which I had translated (none other than Matt Alt!) 15 years ago, had subbed, and showed at I think 2 MW Cons, way back in the day. The subbed version disappeared with another old MW member who moved out of state. Been looking for my copy since, but now someone else has posted theirs! This TV Special is absolutely incredible, and worth the 30 minutes to view in its entirety. When you get to the 21 minute 21 second mark, you'll get goosebumps going behind the scenes at Tatsunoku Studios when they are actually animating the movie. Enjoy the video, and enjoy the translation, which I'm attaching as a PDF here!! 1...2...3... MACROSS!!!!!!!!!!! Macross_DYRL_TV_Special_1984_MacrossWorld.pdf

FYI update regarding the thumbnail issue, its been escalated up the IPB support chain, they found a minor bug in the conversion, and are working on a solution for us, should be resolved very soon. RedWolf, could you please provide us with some additional information on what you did(an example post we can test here), the behavior you saw, and what you expected? Just need some more info to help troubleshoot. Thanks again everyone for your patience through the transition. Shawn -

Yeah...Legacy is still offline until I bring it up again, sorry!! I want to see if I can find a way to migrate them into the current board software, and then after I bang my head for a couple weeks not getting anywhere, I'll just turn the thing on again. ha! Shawn -

Regarding the older post thumbnails, I rebuilt everything (took about 22 hours), and physically see the new thumbnails generated in the upload folder, but the posts links are apparently bad, and can't resolve. Going to need to see what I can fix via sql updates. This update was the most painful one we've done, but we will get it sorted out, just hang in there a bit longer. -

I've got remote images enabled, and for them to cache indefinitely, so once posted they should stay live. We always prefer a local uploaded file, because almost all external linked pictures get abandoned at some point, but the board lives forever (LOL) I was mucking around with that settings in that area last night trying to fix our thumbnail issue from older posts, so perhaps I tripped that during the time you were doing the post, or just after. It (IPB) says in the settings " A copy of the remote image will be downloaded to your server and stored for the specified length of time. After this time, the stored image is deleted and will be downloaded again if it is viewed again. " which sounds like it might be what you experienced.
