I guess they need permission from HG for any TV/DYRL video releases Or maybe they just forgot to turn off the geo-fencing...but suspect that is not the case

The good news for people that don't have a VF-1J is that it doesn't REALLY matter now. You could use a more accessible VF-1S Hikaru, and the only difference would be the wing stripe color if seen from the back. So get any DX, swap the head and you've got a GPB VF-1J

I know it isn't EXACTLY what you were asking but there is a Nousjadeul-Ger variant in the movie if you are looking for crazy DYRL variants Missile Backpack! There was another variant somewhere I swear...can't remember right now but I caught it doing a frame advance during some scene...man I love getting old.

I hope they release 2 versions...one with a bundled vf-1j and a one that is a stand alone armor only package, because then the die hard collectors will have to buy 2x to be complete...and Bandai just doubled their sales! LOL

Until proven otherwise, Macross TV and DYRL are all HG...so that means Funimation now right? So we just need to push for a Funimation Blu-Ray subbed release with all sorts of liner notes and pictures of collectibles. I think if they reach out to jvmacross they could have it all

Yeah- I guess I can look at it that way as a positive out of this, that wording helps a lot. All the new series stuff (post original TV/DYRL) is now potentially available for us to get outside of Japan without a fight, so that is a positive for sure. And I can now look forward to collecting a Japanese "Robotech the Live Action Movie" poster in the future. Wow, that really is a hard one to visualize LOL

Before we all start bashing HG here, I did not get 'bend at the knee' out of that at all. It says "The agreement also recognizes Harmony Gold’s longstanding exclusive license with Tatsunoko for the use of the 41 Macross characters and mecha in the Robotech television series and related merchandise throughout the world excluding Japan." So if you are in the US, as most fans are on this site, HG still is the Macross TV (and dyrl?) licensor. Which implies we can get Frontier and Delta here and new series, but the OG Macross is still HG, and with their license with Toynami still in effect, I doubt we'll be seeing DX VF-1 Valkyries here anytime soon.
