Reserve up to Jan 5th...if you pre-order you get some sort of extra gift, pic isn't loading for me https://store.kadokawa.co.jp/shop/g/g322409000660/ Haruhiko Mikimoto's "Macross" illustrations come together across time and space! Haruhiko Mikimoto's first Macross artbook, who was deeply involved in the planning stages of "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" and brought the characters to life, is finally here! This book contains over 350 carefully selected illustrations from the vast amount of illustrations in the Macross series, from the magazine illustrations that debuted Lynn Minmay to the present, including "Super Dimension Fortress Macross," "Do You Remember Love?", "Macross II," "Macross 7," and more. The trajectory of Haruhiko Mikimoto's Macross illustrations over more than 40 years and the origins of the Macross series are now here!

If only you would have brought your DX VT-1 to zoom around in the pic!

That is a crazy crazy amount of artwork, did you do those all freehand or use anything as a template? Nice work Which one is this? Reminds me a bit like a head from a Legioss or Sparta.
-
Nope it wasn't me, curious if it was a proxy buyer and we might see it in more detail later.

They are one of the most unique Macross items I've ever seen They are growing on me a bit in a strange way
-
back side they are all hand painted by Monk 天野こうゆう, "Kouyuu Amano" https://search.yahoo.co.jp/realtime/search/%23天野こうゆう/?p=%23天野こうゆう&ei=UTF-8&save=5

As clay figures, I wonder how any of them would survive the trip overseas
-
Clay figures? Not quite sure what these are looks like 11 of them around 4000 yen each, so thats a hefty price to get them all https://x.com/search?q=劇場公開40周年記念 超時空要塞マクロス 愛・おぼえていますか展&src=typed_query

Yeah-those V1s are getting in pretty rough condition these last few years. All of mine have yellowed despite zero exposure to the sun. I've not actually tried taking one out of the box in a decade plus, but if the plastic is turning brittle, maybe its best I don't try. Maybe these will become rare and valuable a bit more into the future just because there will be few intact non-yellowed examples. Sorry to hear about your experience, and a costly one at that. I've seen many affordable arcadia v2s in the For Sale section here well under the $200 range, so keep your eyes peeled. I'll personally be listing a non-boxed Premium edition VF-1S Hikaru soon at a decent price very soon as well (part of my annual ritual is to sell off stuff I get off of Yahoo Japan to fund the yearly server costs, but with the absence of SDCon this year it will all be online this year)

My initial thoughts right now is that this is a prototype or anything, just curious on what appears to be a recast tailfin/backpack, which isn't the norm for most customizers who just do repaints. At least in the pictures it doesn't LOOK painted. But it we see bubbles in the back of the head for on the VF-1D head, then perhaps the backpack was recast in resin. Until proven otherwise its assume a good custom, not to start off any rumors. Unfortunately that Takatoku 1/55 VF-1D was just an example of how you could customize your valkyrie yourself, that one pictured in the ads and catalogs was not representative of a prototype or anything. It was frequently shown with that light blue variant and black variant as well.

attached are the pics from the live auction https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1157557958 it looks like the backpack and tailfins are one shade of orange, and the head/chest another. but the backpack and tailfins don't LOOK painted, so I was thinking maybe resin cast, but who really knows just a guess
-
It definitely is an interesting auction. Its either a crazy custom with potentially orange resin re-casted parts, painted parts, or its a crazy prototype work in progress In any case it is super cool and the Matsushiro Starforce box, at 1/100 scale is a super bonus
-
Been following that one for couple days. The backpack does look molded in color doesn't it? Not just painted? Thought it was my imagination. Could someone have recast it in orange resin, along with the tailfins?
-
I'll still stand on that hill and yell..the VT-1 has normal freaking sized tail fins. Unfortunately Yamato may have started the downfall of the design with their shrunken tailfins on the original V1 design and it subsequently became the 'way to cheat' to get the backpack to sit like that. And can I also scream PAINT THE STUPID LANDING GEARS WHITE!. Tell me how this doesn't look 100% better. Oh grumpy old man rant over for the day. Thanks for listening.
