I wonder if it will continue the trend of having english captions...hope so Sometimes there are little nuggets of trivia in the past volumes that are interesting to read without grabbing the phone translate function.

Deculture version LOL Interesting the book is presented portrait style (vs landscape) That is fine...just give the me obligatory 'we are so sorry but we must ask you to rotate the book' and give me full page pics!

I want that poster too... Big jump in price between A4 and B4 I assume the B4 will be hardcover, and the A4 soft for that price difference.

looks like a consolidation of everything he's done for tv and dyrl only to celebrate the 40th if one already had all his previous books will there be something new? if it had all his latest HMR it would be nice

How about an limited release Empire Strikes Back poster by our favorite Macross Artists, Yoshiyuki Takani? The Snow troopers definitely look a bit more evil

I see a positive aspect is that new fans to the series are willing to drop $120 on a collectible they don't know much about. That is not an insignificant amount to drop on a toy. If this was your first Macross toy since seeing a Jetfire from the 80's, I could understand being underwhelmed at the size and plastic. These would not be the comments made on the upcoming DX YF-19. Hope Bandai can make any needed marketing adjustments and keep thing moving forward! Maybe they switch back to "HCM" - High Complete Model, it would seem to fit the line better, and there is history there.

Could you tell us more about this project? It looks very good.

You were not kidding, the negative reviews seem focus on the metal terminology in thr HMR name. example below. I suspect there could be a new localization needed for the non Japanese markets who don't know the history of the line. 1.0 out of 5 starsVerified Purchase Where is the Metal? Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2023 There is absolutely no METAL on this piece and I paid $150 for a cheap plastic imitation. I expected better from Bandai and Metal Spirits line. This is definitely going back. Please don't waste your time on this.

They never learned from Graham's Valkyrie Integrity Shake Test (*VIST") from 20 years ago! Nice to see you back in the game G!

I missed out on the original Megahouse releases, they looked very nice. And could not justify the after-market $400+ prices yay!

The VF-0S was my first HMR purchase, I got it to support Macross for a World Wide release, primarily for the Tenjin Box art. My biggest gripe with the HMR line (I got the GBP release as my 2nd HMR for the Tenjin art too) is that the boxes have all these vertical striations that are visible at any sort of angle and light, across the wonderful art. Its like the carboard came off a roll and has folds for bending or something weird. Yeah that is a weird peeve to have.

Unfortunately no one knows Bandai's re-release schedule. I was surprised enough to see the Mechanic Edition coming with a VF-1S head-why not do an A so then they could be done with the Hikaru DYRL editions and have something else in the pipeline for the 1984/2024 DYRL anniversary next year. The VF-1Ds are still frequently seen on Yahoo Japan and Mercari via Buyee for around 40k yen new which is about $280 US, plus say $40 for shipping With the currently strong US dollar to Yen rate, that is effectively what I got mine for when they originally were released (I think mine was $260ish) Now that does assume you have the US dollar at your disposal of course. Recently sold examples: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/closedsearch/closedsearch?p=γγ―γγΉ+θΆ ει+vf-1d&va=γγ―γγΉ+θΆ ει+vf-1d&b=1&n=100 I'm currently saving up for my Mechanic Edition scalping that will happen in November for the release. With that same strong exchange rate, many sellers in Japan know this and are marking up their DXes for overseas sales opportunities.
