Knight26 Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Ok I normally don't start threads like this but today my ears were assualted with one of the worst musical perversions I have ever heard. Here is the situation, I am doing some editting on my most recent book rewrite listening to my yahoo launchcast station when it happens. Anyway this cover of one of my favorite songs come on, Hotel California, in the first few bars I can tell it is a cover, then vocals start. My ears immediatetly start to scream at me for the horror I am subjecting them too. So I check the player and see it is that American Idol loser Will Hung (great porno name btw) and that he was given a record contract. What fool thought that was a good idea, the guy is tone deaf can't sing worth garbage and now is raping songs worse then modern directors are of classic sci-fi literature. Man, it was so terrible, and Hotel California is one of my favorite songs, out of morbid curiousity I wonder what other songs he has destroyed. Quote

Jawjaw Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Remember that Treehouse of Horror's Simpsons episode where all the advertising icons came to life and wreaked havoc on the town? The only way to stop them was to ignore them. Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I'll gladly ignore this man with a .357 ... or perhaps a .44... Nuke the fool from orbit, only way to be sure. Quote
Knight26 Posted July 18, 2004 Author Posted July 18, 2004 I'll gladly ignore this man with a .357... or perhaps a .44... Nuke the fool from orbit, only way to be sure. No that's too quikc and too clean. We need to find whoever gave him a contract tie them down to a fire ant hill under a killer bee hive, cut him open and spread honey all over his internal organs. GobotFool Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Hung is not the one that deserves to die. There are alot of tone deaf people out there. The people who deserve to die are those who gave Will Hung the exposure he didn't deserve and still doesn't deserve. Quote
Skull Leader Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Speaking as someone who has professional vocal experience, this man has no business singing on anyones CD... I wish no ill harm towards the guy, but he's in the wrong profession. He couldn't carry a tune to save his own life. Quote
Vermillion One Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 He couldn't carry a tune to save his own life. Unfortunately, that seems to be the point of his career. His CD is an unintentional comedy classic. It was good for about a half an hour of laughter in my lab, before it became to annoying to bear. Quote
j_wong00 Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Hung is not the one that deserves to die. There are alot of tone deaf people out there. The people who deserve to die are those who gave Will Hung the exposure he didn't deserve and still doesn't deserve. I agree with that. Honestly I don't blame Hung for the CD. If someone is willing to pay me a wack load of money even though I don't have a lick of talent; I'd take the money and run. Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I must be the only one that wants Hung to pay for his crimes... after all, you take out the record execs that gave him this undue attention and two more slither out of the sewers to replace them. Record execs are like the T1000... no matter how many you kill they... keep... comming... back. But if you dispatch their creations in grisly and effective ways then the next crap-ass tone deaf superstar-to-be will have serious second thoughts about signing that record contract. Don't sign that paper tonight she said because you'll get a friggin' bullet in the brain! Quote
Ladic Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 But is it really the Guys Fault? or the idiots that buy his CD? Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I actually don't know a single person who has bought that CD... I think the "success" of Hung is what they call in the business a "SMC". SMC stands for "Smoke and Mirrors Celebrity"... a manufactured celebrity that is popular because the execs and radio stations are forcing him down your throat. A celebrity that makes money because chain stores like Best Buy buy the albums by the truckload... the execs and the "artist" have made their money then... the CD's rot on the store shelves and eventually get charged back to the manufacturers. Anyone remember the other manufactured celebs? Where are they now? That's right... working at Arbys. I think I saw the girls from Bewitched at the fryer right next to the dorks from Ohtown. Hung is just another example of how music has lost it's soul and filled the void with greed, gimmick and stupidity. Someone's always playing corporation games... who cares they're always changing corporation names? We just want to dance here but someone stole the stage. A bad lyric from a bad song that is horribly horribly true. Quote
scand Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 If anybodys gonna have a nuke droped on them it should be this ass. Quote
aaajin Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 haha...but does anyone here knows any links to download his songs?...got to hear them esp. during exam weeks...they..hmm...bang~! Quote
Blaine23 Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 (edited) I think he's funny as hell... but that doesn't mean I'd ever want to listen to him sing. But if some old woman in Nebraska feels sorry for his tone deaf ass and help him make a ton of money for being so embarrasingly bad and pathetic... who am I to say no. Go Hung go. Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank. Edited July 18, 2004 by Blaine23 Quote
Myriad Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Don't be mad at Will! Be mad at the people who let him sing their classic songs....... Quote
lebhead Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 at least most of you aren't in the SF Bay Area. Mr. Hung apparently is a Berkley student, so we get 10 times more "Wiliam Hung Mania" up here. luckily it seems to have stopped. but for a while... sh**... i couldn't even listen to the radio. there was even a "Well Hung" concert, featuring the great William Hung himself. Luckily America as a country has a collective memory of about 6 months. Quote
Wes Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 9. William Hung Inspirational Thoughts (Perseverance) I actually liked this one. Let me see if I remember how it goes... Hung: I used to think that i would never become a good singer...then I met this really inspirational man - Carl Marcek. He told me 'Hey! If you don't have talent, steal it! And get people with money to whore out your merchandise' I think you can he how such wise words have affected me. Ahh, now it makes sense! Quote
Wes Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Besides, my state's, NC, has had two American Idols. How much of that crap do you think I get? Quote
Sundown Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 My goodness. Does no one understand that Hung's CD isn't about musicality, nor is actually meant to be listened to for something other than a snicker? Of course the guy doesn't belong in the music industry. Of course he can't carry a tune. That's precisely why his CD exists... mere exploitation of his goofyness, novelty, for comedic value alone, wrapped up with a tiny bit of wish-fullfilment meant to "inspire" the rest of us who also have no talent. You're meant to think, "if a fella like him can get a record contract, by pure determination and total lack of shame, why can't *I*, with my modicum of talent, do the same?" Of course the reality is that you can't, not because you have even less talent than Hung, nor because you don't have as much drive... but because you're probably just not as fun to laugh it. -Al Quote
justvinnie Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 wow, I've never heard this William Hung before so out of morbid curiosity I listened to the Amazon clips... ouch... he's worse than I am and I thought I was bad... vinnie Quote
Blaine23 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 (edited) Don't be mad at Will! Be mad at the people who let him sing their classic songs....... Uh... pretty much anybody can cover a song, if they want. The only law is that they have to pay royalties to the songwriter for every dime it makes. I suppose they could physically try and stop him, but I doubt Elton, Enrique and the Eagles will take him out anytime soon. I think you've got it confused with the fact that you can't actually use another artist's performance of a song without permission. ie - sampling. But people have done awful renditions of classic songs for eons. Shall I point you to one of the funniest CD's ever? Golden Throats - Celebrities ruining music forever. You really haven't lived until you've heard Shatner destroy Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Edited July 19, 2004 by Blaine23 Quote

Many of you guys seem to take William Hung's singing a bit too serious. I have a co-worker bought his CD, and played it out loud occasionally when a bunch of guys working late. I have to say not many singers can generate as much laughter in the hallway than his. Good music? Heck no! Fun music? Kind of. Rocket Ma~~~n!! *tone deaf* Quote
That NOS Guy Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I think there was a Korn song where they just screamed "WTF?" for like a minute and a half, it's so fitting right now. -NOS Indeed, WTF? Quote
