It is interesting to watch all of the stores start selling out and how many of these auction sites have suddenly been getting more activity on these toys. I wonder if any of the toy companies can take away any info. from this. Obviously there's a market for this stuff still... but only once the gift horse has been flogged to death?

I also hope that Arcadia revives the 1/60 Macross line...even if it is only as online exclusives.....paces them out....almost like a subscription...2-3 a year....

The prices above, with the possible exception of the VF-4G, I would say are not scalping prices...just market prices based on a demand created by the belief that Arcadia has indeed abandoned the 1/60 line.....we are basically seeing within months...what took years to happen to the old Takatoku/Bandai 1/55 prices......I am thinking history will repeat itself....maybe not soon...but eventually....someone, if not Arcadia, will buy the Yamato molds and start cranking them out.....

With that said, there are some samples that I don't think will ever be made again......sort of how Bandai has never re-released the 1/55 VE-1 or VT-1 (maybe next year though on DYRL's 30th?).....like the VF-1J Commander, VF-1S stealth, and a few others...

So let's not lose hope...or forget what has happened to Macross toy collecting in the past.....

Yeah. I wouldn't over pay for any of this stuff unless you have the money and are dying to have it. Some people just enjoy the old Yamato brand and packaging, Idk.

New versions always come along if the market is there.

I still feel like the biggest loss of everything since Yamato went under is any more, or possibly unpainted versions of, the VF-4. We've already seen some pretty spectacular modifications to the 4G alone. I feel like that outside of the VF-1, and likely even more so if it were more affordable/available, we would see some pretty impressive VF-4 schemes/modifications. We've already seen people experiment with missiles, Fast pack modifications, not to mention Kurisama fricking nailing it with his head/paint scheme/decaling combo.

But the biggest loss is having a company like Yamato that was bold enough to design and release something like the VF-4, the 1/3000 SDF-1, the VF-19, the VF-17, the VF-1 ver 2.

If Arcadia continues with the 1/60 line will they try obscure valks like the VF-5000, VF-3000, VF-9 and others?

I think it's hard to underestimate the impact Yamato had on toy design in general. From what Bandai does today, to Transformer seeker plans in different lines. The things they did to make transformable planes really pushed the industry.

Definitely hoping a more affordable VF-11C and VF-4G get issued at some point but I still wouldn't pay their MSRP much less the inflated prices.

It's not Macross -- but I saw a Beagle Mospeada Ride Armor toy for $10,000 on Amazon.

I really wonder about some of these astronomical prices. I understand (but don't necessarily condone) trying to milk a desperate buyer for all you can, but after some point you're just guaranteeing that it's going to warm your shelf for a long time. A VF-4G for $1600? Hey, why not $2000? Or $5000? I mean, if we're going to price things at ridiculously unobtainable prices, might as well go all out!
