tundrayeti Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Hey Everyone! been really busy lately and I finally broke down and modeled some of the Macross ground vehicles in 3D. I am in the process of having these 3d printed in 1/100 scale for myself, but it would be very easy to convert these to 1/72, 1/60, or any scale desired. I will post pics of the models when I get them But for now I'm just gauging interest to see if anyone else would be interested in a set or individual vehicles. Let me know your thoughts and ideas. More will definately be on the way but here are the vehicles I have for now: The M299 Jeep: The XM3002 Low Gravity Vehicle: A civilian car: And the Tow tractor: I have more coming, but here is the first taste, let me know what you guys think! cool8or Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Do you'll sell 3D printed models? In color? I'm interested in 1/72 vehicles, but I would like to see a sample, before agree to buy some. Quote

I have samples on the way, I'm just guaging intrest right now. I'm going to try several materials. I have the first set being done with the cheaper material in 1/100 scale. I should have them in a couple weeks Quote
Iceblue106 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hey there Yeti!!! Long time no talk. I'd be interested in 1/60 scale vehicles. So if/or when you decide to go with the build, include me in so we can talk price. Blue Quote

MechTech Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I haven't been able to get here in a while, but good timing to get here and see this great work! Nice job Yeti! Not my scale, but great work all the same! - MT Quote

tundrayeti Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 So, do you'll "print" a kit to use it as a master? And then you'll make copies in resin? Sorry but I'm a little confused. Good question Cool8or. If it costs too much to Print each kit I will be printing a master and making Resin Copies. (at least in the larger scales) printing in 1/100 scale is pretty cost effective. I will be determining what would be the best way to go after I get my test prints. Of course I will be posting my progress here and getting feedback from everyone on the forums. So I guess the answer to your question Cool8or, would be whatever looks best and is reasonable cost wise. I know that the larger scales will be more expensive. I will keep everyone informed. Quote
Major Focker Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 i'll take 1/72 and 1/144, and a few 1/60 and 1/100. hope this succeeds and you make more of the other vehicles. speaking of which, someone was making one of the bigger macross trucks. lost track of it though. wonder if it's still on Quote
tundrayeti Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Here are a few more designs. I made these from some Concept designs from another anime, but they look good in the Macross universe. I'm doing more, the boom truck is on the way as well. I'm also doing a firetruck design. need to fight fires on board ship. Let me know what you guys think. Quote

tundrayeti Posted September 12, 2010 Author Posted September 12, 2010 The project is still on. Just too busy to discuss with my caster for the pricing. Hey ahiachris, I checked out your thread, Awesome work! Sorry I wasn't trying to step on your toes, like most folks here I wanted something for my particular scale and figured out a way to make it happen in any scale. unfortunately, anything smaller than 1/100 scale isn't possible for the 3d printer to do. So It looks as though i will be doing these in 1/60, 1/72, and 1/100 scales. I may break these up into set. A Macross city set with all the civvie cars, a ground support set (obvious) and a military set (with the jeeps). Please, if anyone has an idea for something they would like to see done, post some lineart and I'll try to make it happen. Quote

tundrayeti Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Thanks for the lineart Cool8or! I actually was going to do the taxi, but not the limo until now. The lineart I have sucks. If there's not enough intrest, I'll print one out just for you. Quote
cool8or Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 C'mon man... thank YOU! The lineart is from Macross Perfect Memory book, but all these vehicles are contained in only one page, so all of them are very tiny. Despite this, I could take better pictures if you need it. Quote

These are great! My copy of the book is electronic so it kinda sucks. I can really do some damage with these. I'll start on the limo and taxi today. I'll do the ambulance too. thanks again! Quote

tundrayeti Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Great Stuff Yeti. I would love a The XM3002 Low Gravity Vehicle and a Tow Tractor in 1/60 scale. Thanks Miriya I will be doing these in sets or individually. Here is a preview of the taxi: still need to add some detail, but the basic model is done. Quote
tundrayeti Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 And here's the ambulance. I will add more detail but the basic shape is what I'm looking for opinions on. Quote
Blue Faced Beast Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 And here's the ambulance. I will add more detail but the basic shape is what I'm looking for opinions on. Great work Yeti. It looks to me like the angle of the wheel wells should be a bit different. Please forgive my sketch in illustrator but I think they should be a bit more like this: Quote
tundrayeti Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Thanks Beast, It kinda hard to see for sure in the lineart but i'll fillet those corners. Been doing some research and have some more civvie vehicles coming. I may even do Jim's jeep from Mospeada. If there is something you would like to see let's give it a try!. The sample models are on their way to me right now I should have them in a week or so (hopefully) Keep those suggestions coming. Quote
BlueMax Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Definitely interested in 1/48 & 1/60 scale Quote
tundrayeti Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Hey guys. here's an update. Fixed the ambulance and added more detail. And I got another civilian car about 90% done. I think this one was also a Taxi. Next step is to show the samples once I get them and then break these down into sets and then the real fun starts. Quote
tundrayeti Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 My samples arrived today! To the naked eye they look really good! Some of the powder that is used in the 3d printing process in visible in the pics and I used the cheapest material available, just to see how they look. I think if i use these as masters I will print them in the high quality material/machine. These are in the 1/100 scale and I put them in with some of my 1/100 scale stuff including the original Macross factory vehicles from Imai. Let me know what you guys think. I'm going to clean these up and get all the excess powder off of them, primer and post some more pics. but for now, here are the preliminary photos. Quote
