wraith1701 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) I'm a Gundam noob, so bear with me.. I'm currently reading Yoshiyuki Tomino's novelization of Mobile Suit Gundam (which is excellent, btw) and in the novel the Gundam that Amuro pilots is completely white. Are there any offical models of this one? All i can find are pics of the anime one. Thanks! Yep; there are, sort of. If I remember correctly, the plain white model of the Gundam that Amuro pilots in the novelization is the RX 78-3. There are several models of this suit, but instead of having a monochromatic white paint job, it has a monochromatic gray one. It doesn't appear in the anime, but I think the model was produced as a nod to the suit in the books. Here is the Gundam Fix Figuration version of the suit (1/144 scale)- And the old "Master Grade" version (1/100 scale)- The master grade pictured is a pretty old version, there have been updates since then. I think they were all molded in the regular RX-78-2 colors, so you might have to do some painting to get the RX-78-3 look. Edited August 30, 2008 by wraith1701

Necron_99 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Thanks for the reply wraith1701. I like the 2nd pic suit better. That was what I had in mind while I was reading looks like i'm going to do my first custom
lechuck Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) Black Valkyrie already posted the news in the Gundam Figure Thread, so I'll spread the news for this one: GUNOTA IS SIGNING OFF Everybody pop in your CCA soundtrack and play "Aurora" (#14) while reading those last two entries. azrael Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 From the Chara Hobby show (courtesy of AnimeSuki): MG IJ Wings look like a decent size this time. SD 00 Gundam
Wicked Ace Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) Does the red/pink-ish one above transform to a "flight mode?" For those knowledgeable about the Gundam universe(s), please forgive my ignorance. Edited September 6, 2008 by Wicked Ace
azrael Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Promo sheets LEDs huh?.... That'll be fun. Damn, guess I'll be using my HG IJ as a test or heck, I might just sell it.
wraith1701 Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Am I seeing this correctly? "Light-Up" GN Drives!?! I'd decided to stick to 1/144 scale, but this just might convince me to give the 1/100's another go. Thanks for the heads-up!

kensei Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Man, that IJ is just Infinite Awesomeness. I want it now!
azrael Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 HG 1/144 00 Gundam Not bad on the flexibility there.
David Hingtgen Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I haven't bought a Gundam kit in years, but if they keep miniaturizing lights, they may be able to make an "internal glow" PG Unicorn Gundam some day. THAT I'd buy.
Vince Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I haven't bought a Gundam kit in years, but if they keep miniaturizing lights, they may be able to make an "internal glow" PG Unicorn Gundam some day. THAT I'd buy. I've been thinking how well light sheet would do with the Unicorn, it's likely doable if anybody still making light sheets.
Black Valkyrie Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Haven`t bought a Gunpla in over 3 years, just waiting for O Gundam.
Dr. Z Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I know it's not a kit per say, but I won the original transformable HCM 1/144 ZZ Gundam (no. 24) yesterday for $25 on Ebay last night. It has some die-cast too (mostly in the joints I think). Can't wait to get it. Now, I wish I could find the HCM Z Gundam too...
Scream Man Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 i have a backlog of kits now, but havent been in the mood to assemble for awhile. Ill keep getting 1/100 00 units until they stop making em, and just store them up till im ready again.
wolfx Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The Justice and I-Justice designs i would've liked it if weren't for the silly and strange backpack system. The thing is huge and its used as a flight platform....why?! Still waiting for MG Exia.
Wicked Ace Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I do realize this one is old news as well as a fan-created custom, but is anyone selling kits for this? Throne Eins Turbulenz Also, the Kyrios Gust interests me.
azrael Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I do realize this one is old news as well as a fan-created custom, but is anyone selling kits for this? Throne Eins Turbulenz Actually, it was a kitbash for the 00 MSV. Those pics were from Newtype, IIRC.
wolfx Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 That Eins looks so evil. I wonder how the manga explains all these MSV variations. In the anime the gundams that were shown are already the best in the world....then where do all these souped up versions appear? The manga is suppsoed to be a prequel right?
Black Valkyrie Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 It seems so many MG kits on sale at HLJ.
Wicked Ace Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 It seems so many MG kits on sale at HLJ. Thanks for the heads-up. Now I'm going to spend money to have boxes of unassembled models hanging around.
Scream Man Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 im vaguly glad Im not ina Kit mood at the moment, I already have 5 backlogged!
Black Valkyrie Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) I would be nice if Bandai made GN Drive parts for customing HG, MG kits. How many of you would like to have a GN Drive instead of the normal boost pack on your Gunpla . Edited September 17, 2008 by Black Valkyrie
azrael Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Toys Daily on HG 1/144 00 Gundam Pretty good articulation and detail for a straight build.
Shmitty Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 im vaguly glad Im not ina Kit mood at the moment, I already have 5 backlogged! Only 5? I have like 18- and that's just Gundam, lol.
lechuck Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 MG Sinanju from Gundam Unicorn is on the way. Thank God not a another Zaku...
vermillion01 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Need some advice on a future purchase.... I'm not really a Gundam fan but i love the idea of the PG kits and would like to get one purely on the basis that i like the technical detail and size of them. i've been looking at a strike rouge but cant find any decent english reviews of it. anyone here got one and built it themselves that would like to share their thoughts? also considered the strike or Mk. II AEUG (but heard the hip joint is rubbish). thanks in advance.

azrael Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Whats a 0-Riser? It's an add-on to 00 Gundam (like a G-Defensor/G-Falcon).
