VFX Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 (edited) Hey guys, I just got mine in the mail. It' s a sweet little set. They have them at: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/cfstore/ind...&product_id=115 Edited July 16, 2005 by VFX Quote
Gabe Q Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Forgive me for saying this. It doesn't look that great to me. There doesn't seem to be much detail. Maybe the photos are to blame. Quote
Kylwell Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Admittedly the pictures are on the poor side. You can see some of the detail on the second front picture. SSM is working on getting some better photography and some build-up shots. Quote
Grayson72 Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 Hey thanks for the heads up! I'm curious why someone wouldn't come here first to market their Macross products, hello! Quote
Myersjessee Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Very sharp detail and mastered by one of our own. Im buying one! Quote
VFX Posted July 17, 2005 Author Posted July 17, 2005 Trust me. The parts are every bit as detailed as their plastic Hasagawa counter parts! I just want to make clear parts for the head of mine. Quote
Myersjessee Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Who mastered it? 311388[/snapback] Im not sure if he wants the information out...but I will say many of us have his work and I can't think of a single person who has been disapointed. The detail is there...just to small for the pic. Quote
Gabe Q Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ok, I'm sold. I trust your judgement. Now I need to buy a new battroid kit. Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 The SSM guys are great. The owners/operators are part of my local hobby club. Top notch people and they run a good website. I was, however, surprised there wasn't much hype on MW about this kit. Personally, I could think of 5,000 more kits I want ahead of that one, but I love to see anyone support Macross and the hobby. Gundamhead Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 It's OK Jesse. I mastered it a while back. I did it as a donation to Starship Modeler. I had no idea when it would be ready for people to buy, so I had asked Jesse to just let be a little quiet for now. But since it is available now, it's out OK to go bug them if you want one. They're very reliable as far as doing business with. A A+ operation over there. Quote
Grayson72 Posted July 19, 2005 Posted July 19, 2005 Yay Gundamhead! That was very nice of you to donate to them. They put it up at a reasonable price I thought. Did you just give them the master and they cast it up themselves (just curious). Mine's on it's way, can't wait to get it. Thanks again for your awesome creations. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I should have my VF-1D conversion finished in the next day or two. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Here are some pics of the completed kit. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 If your interested in the paints used it was Model Master Go Mango and Model Master (MM) Light Ivory for the body. MM Grauviolet for the gunpod, MM steel for the feet, and Tamiya Clear Green for the head optics. Quote
neptunesurvey Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Thanks Gundamhead. And thank you for spending the time to make the conversion parts and to Starshipmodeler for selling the kit. Quote
Grayson72 Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I got mine yesterday. It's a cool little kit, the chest peice is a bit warped and the details on the chest peice are a bit shallow and fuzzy. It almost looks like the rubber molds are wearing out for the chest peice. No fault of the sculptor however, it's a great conversion. Quote
