Uxi Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Wow, I was going to try to wait for the D, but that might not be possible.
biggooftoybox Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks for the scans Graham. That looks so much better and i do like the way they compromised on storing the guns. At least it still pops out from the legs. Too bad it isn't out till Dec25. Well at least i can try to snag the VF-19S while i'm here in HKG. Hopefully it'll come out in time and in lots of places at Mongkok so that'll make it easier to track down and price compare.

Loop Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Woot! the chest does go down far enough so the head look free!
Archer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If the nose of the VF-17 was as pointed and thin as in those pictures, I'd get this in a heartbeat. Maybe I've been spoiled by the VF-171
treatment Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 damn clickity awesome! gotta luv the chunkiness of it.
Tking22 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I gotta say the mold looks fantastic, it seems nice and durable too, all the joints clicked. But I am still turned off by the head, it just looks awful, that said I'm sure we'll see the D announced soon enough, then it's time to break out the wallet.
Archer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 The thing is huge! And seems pretty solid as well. This just went from a meh to a must buy! And the pictures made it seem really chunky, but the video presents it in a much nicer angle as well.
Reïvaj Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Thank you very much for the video, Renato. This valk looks amazing! (And you should’ve had a look at the instructions ) If the nose of the VF-17 was as pointed and thin as in those pictures, I'd get this in a heartbeat. Maybe I've been spoiled by the VF-171 Yeah, but… if you like the VF-171 you should prefer Yamato’s version for it has a longer and slightly dropping nose cone…
Archer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I corrected myself in the post above, and this thing will be a must buy! Also, that cockpit mechanism looks really interesting. It appears as though the cockpit will be accessible in the battroid mode as well, as all one needs to do is lift up the upper chest plate and then open up the canopy. Interestingly enough, this is how the lineart portrays the battroid cockpit mechanism as well. I don't know if that was an intended feature, but it works fine by me
UN Spacy Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 After watching Renato's video I can see why he has so many broken figures in his signature .
Reïvaj Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 After watching Renato's video I can see why he has so many broken figures in his signature . True.
Renato Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 False For the record, each and every one of the things I have listed in my signature were straight-out-of-the-box defects. Actually the 1/72 VF-11 just had stress marks and broke later, but EVERYBODY's broke, until the version 2 fixed it. I get a broken/defective toy brand new in the box pretty every time so I haven't bought much recently. (Except the SOC Tetsujin vs. Black Ox set -- Black Ox's leg was broken from the inside) Just as well 'cause these things ain't cheap. If I didn't live in Japan and have access to the customer service, I seriously wouldn't buy anything at all.
Twoducks Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is it as dark and matte in person as it looks in the videos? Thing looks fantastic from a design point but the dark scheme really takes away a lot. Does the scheme look at least like the VF-22 Gamlin? Hope it sell enough to make a non cannon scheme. I gotta say the mold looks fantastic, it seems nice and durable too, all the joints clicked. But I am still turned off by the head, it just looks awful, that said I'm sure we'll see the D announced soon enough, then it's time to break out the wallet. I think the bright S head breaks up the dark boring scheme a bit.
knoted Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) ^ Dark matte colourscheme makes for subtle details. The yellow bands are already quite questionable on a stealth fighter. Edited November 28, 2011 by knoted
kanedaestes Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Looks awesome, and there's defintely more to the transformation since the nose actually folds up higher. I can't wait, and yes IT'S HUGE!!!
Actar Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Absolutely brilliant stuff! I'll be the first in line for a D when pre-orders come up. Curious, were transformation instructions not available that day?
Vi-RS Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I think the dark matte finish really make the bird charm though.
Reïvaj Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Absolutely brilliant stuff! I'll be the first in line for a D when pre-orders come up. Curious, were transformation instructions not available that day? Renato mentions in camera he wouldn’t be using the instructions because he already owns the Bandai toy. Apparently that wasn’t enough information
rebel scum Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I'm new but, I hope to get this one when it comes out.
Graham Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Haha, that video from Renato is priceless. Classic comedy gold! "It's not like the Bandai one". RTFM, Renato.........LOL! Graham
Archer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 So Renato, how did you feel about the whole cockpit transformation? Was the whole chest locking procedure solid, as it kinda seemed like the cockpit kept falling out of the chest at times? And yeah, that video was great!
Reïvaj Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 So Renato, how did you feel about the whole cockpit transformation? The cockpit kept falling out of the chest because Renato didn’t transform it right. That’s fairly obvious if you saw the video.
wolfx Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Nice vid, Renato. I'm probably getting this, and not the VF-19S Blazer now
Renato Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Absolutely brilliant stuff! I'll be the first in line for a D when pre-orders come up. Curious, were transformation instructions not available that day? Actually, no, there weren't. There was a copy of the mag that had the red ABS test shot in it (Dengeki Hobby?), and people were using that for reference. You could see the infamous "Mister K" at the back there with his white gloves and he was also showing everyone how to transform it properly. I cannot answer questions about how sturdy any of the parts are because I did not transform it properly, but I can give you my impressions, and tell you that it is a very solid, very well-built toy. It feels a lot like the VF-11, but with added heft and a few more gimmicks. Many joints appeared to be die-cast.
Archer Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 The cockpit kept falling out of the chest because Renato didn’t transform it right. That’s fairly obvious if you saw the video. Oh, my bad then. I could have sworn that he only mistransformed the back side of the battroid, I thought the chest portion was transformed accurately.
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Actually, no, there weren't. UN Spacy Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Mr. K? Those are the hands of the Hory Froating Head?!?
MacrossJunkie Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I hope there is an actual locking mechanism for the chest to keep it from sliding and pointing so far down like this while handling it. I love the final texture of the toy. Looks great in fighter mode at the very least and the profile still seems fairly thin in Renato's video.
