Tochiro Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Yamato decided to hold their annual open showroom/sale a month or two earlier than usual this year - it was on today! Save, Renato and myself were on the scene to snap up some deals and get as many pics as possible (actually, I was in line from 7:30 but it was worth it!) A word on the pics - this was the first real trial I put my new iphone 4s through for taking event photos, so I haven't reduced the pics in size at this point. The Basara guitar made a comeback - this model has been tweaked but might still not be the final one. Release date and price have yet to be announced. Prototype for the new VF-17 Nightmare Save likey! Racks and racks of Valks - all reduced! Potential limited edition? (lol) These were made by a fan - pretty darn amazing! Display cases At the end of the day, I lugged this stack of boxes home - Grand Total: 30,000 yen! Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Sweet pics - love the Lego destroids! And that Blazer valk is looking mighty fine as well. Quote
Frogze Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Fantastic! Thanks for the pics. Was the firevalk discounted as well? Quote
myk Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Wow thanks for posting/sharing-looks like your iphone is up to snuff... Quote
Actar Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 This is brilliant! I'm not too familiar with this event, was this in Japan or America? ...but shouldn't this be posted under the Toys section? (^.^ Quote
Jasonc Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Looks like toys, almost as interesting as my office. Quote
Renato Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Yeah, this will probably get moved to the toys section. Anyway, here's some STUFF. There is video, but there are problems with the upload... here's the first batch of pics. Quote
Renato Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 More. Hirosawa-san's legos are incredible. I posted pics of them in the Toy section's Lego thread but nobody seemed to care... EMERALD FORCE. This toy is BEAUTIFUL. And what's more -- it's fun. I have the Kai, so I know what to expect, but even though it just feels so RIGHT in your hands. Plus the shade of blue is gorgeous in real life. The reason I took so many photos of it is because we were messing around with the white balance to somehow get the colour close to what it looks like with the naked eye, but still, we couldn't manage. It really is as close to perfection as you're gonna get in a valkyrie. DIAMOND FORCE. This toy... personally, not so beautiful. But it is much heavier than it looks. Plus it feels good in the hands. I think they did a good job, and it seems sturdy enough. The Gamlin sculpt is really well done. I ended up taking this bad boy home with me. Quote
Gubaba Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I need to find a job that doesn't require me to work weekends... Quote
VF5SS Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Is that Mohm on the shoulder of the Orguss drawing she always serves her goshujinsama~ Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Man, I wish I still lived in Japan. Quote
UN Spacy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I'm so jealous. Who wants to go to Japan w/ me? Quote
Archer Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Has anyone taken pics of the gamlin sculpt or cockpit mechanism? Also, can anyone specify how "low" the chest piece swings, as in promo pics, it was nearly parrallel to the floor, but in these in hand pics, the chest piece is swung down much lower, to the point where the chest guns are pointing towards the floor. Quote
eugimon Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 those legos are great. I'd buy the kits if they were ever made Quote
Beltane70 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 We need to somehow convince Lego that they need to make Macross destroid kits. I'm disappointed that there wasn't a Tomahawk! Quote
Strumvogel Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 All that for 3 man? A real bargin Toshiro. Then again you don't have to lug the whole thing back overseas as I would. Quote
505thAirborne Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I'm so jealous. Who wants to go to Japan w/ me? I just need to get my Passport! Quote
Reïvaj Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks Tochiro and Renato for the great pics! Quote
Renato Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 All that for 3 man? A real bargin Toshiro. Then again you don't have to lug the whole thing back overseas as I would. Yes he does... he ain't a logical guy. Is that Mohm on the shoulder of the Orguss drawing she always serves her goshujinsama~ You betcha. We need to somehow convince Lego that they need to make Macross destroid kits. I'm disappointed that there wasn't a Tomahawk! There is one. Hirosawa-san just didn't bring it with him that day. I think I posted photos of his Lego Garlands a while back. Quote
Archer Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 For those that got to see it, would you say that the VF-17 felt better or worse than the acclaimed VF-19? For nearly 4000 yen more, I hope its better O_O Quote
Renato Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 For those that got to see it, would you say that the VF-17 felt better or worse than the acclaimed VF-19? For nearly 4000 yen more, I hope its better O_O Apples and Oranges... I wouldn't know where to begin to compare them. Plus I would be biased because I know the VF-19 inside out now, so comparing months of experience with 10 minutes handling the VF-17 would not be fair at all. I mean, I know some people could describe that, but I personally wouldn't be able to. I can tell you what it feels *like*. It feels very much like the VF-11, in terms of texture and the way that parts fit and move. However, it felt much heavier. Not quite as heavy as the 19, though. I can't really say better or worse than the 19, though. Quote
Jasonc Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Renato's pic of Save at the end is quite funny. He looks like he's absorbing the vibes of the 17. Also like the boar of suggestions. Saw the suggestion for the VA-3 (Yesss!!!) and one for the VF-2SS. C'mon Yamato, make it happen. Quote
VF5SS Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 tell Yamato that if they get the Orguss license, Mohm will make them some fresh bread Quote
valhary Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 the regult is the hdp kit or is a new one? Quote
Renato Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 the regult is the hdp kit or is a new one? HDP.OK, "transformation" (kind of) video for the VF-17S is up. Quote
Lobizon Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Ah Renato-san is so handsome~ nah...the 17S is much more, thanks Renato for the video. Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is that a Miria VF-17 on the open book on the table? Quote
Lobizon Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is that a Miria VF-17 on the open book on the table? Those are test shot of an unpainted and forecast diecast 17S from the January 2012 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35038&view=findpost&p=942408 Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Nice, love the VF-19S. I wonder if VF-1 1/60 ver. 01 are still available ? Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Thanks, Renato. The ending of that video is almost endearing, where you pose the Nightmare staring up and longing into your eyes. Soon, very soon, it shall be yours. Quote
kanedaestes Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Looks awesome, and there's defintely more to the transformation since the nose actually folds up higher. I can't wait, and yes IT'S HUGE!!! Quote
