VFTF1 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Vegas - the photography on the YF-19 is brilliant! Jesus - I look at my YF-19 every day on one of my shelves and it never looked as good in person! You really have an eye for bringing out the great sculpt that these have I would love to see what you can do with Revoltechs or other figures ? Pete

Pete thanks vftf1, i posted some revoltechs before but the poses were crappy.
eugimon Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Why are you posting without putting up new pictures???
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I love the depth of field you're getting with your new camera. Just gorgeous.
ErikElvis Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Im just wondering. Do you guys really buy these high dollar cameras just to take pics of your valks?
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 nope. We got our camera to take pictures of the kid. My trusty lumix P&S just couldn't keep up with the kid, especially indoors. It's a shame because so many of his pictures from when he was born to about 2 years are either a little blurry, grainy or have that ugly flash look. It's really one of the big regrets I have is that we didn't have nicer gear back then to document his first 2 years.
ErikElvis Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I should have done my homework when I bought my camera. The sony A100. I like taking pics at air shows and things and its just not up to par.
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Yeah, when you're shooting specific subjects, like planes, birds, etc, it's really a good idea to pick the body based on the lenses you'll be using. Sony makes a decent body (their sensors are in Nikon) but the lack of lens selection hurts for anything more than casual hobby shooting, imo. a little vf-11 fun while I wait for customs to clear my package... anime52k8 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Im just wondering. Do you guys really buy these high dollar cameras just to take pics of your valks? yeah pretty much seriously though I take pictures of a LOT of things. I love all aspects of photography, both digital and film. (I do mostly digital though, no need for fuss with chemicals and bulky equipment in dark rooms even if it is fun) I should have done my homework when I bought my camera. The sony A100. I like taking pics at air shows and things and its just not up to par. My old camera was a Sony A100 too. When I got it I wanted an affordable, entry level-ish DSLR and at the time the three best options in my price rang were the Nikon D40, the Canon XTi and the Sony. the Sony and Canon both had ~10 megapixel's to the Nikon's 6, and little extra gimics like the in-camera IS made it seem like the better deal. Overall it's a decent camera, much better than most P&S' at the time, but there where some area's that really disappointed. The ISO performance was frankly abysmal and was my main impetus for getting a new camera so soon. lenses ended up being my main reason for switching brands. Sony makes a decent body (their sensors are in Nikon) but the lack of lens selection hurts for anything more than casual hobby shooting, imo. It's not so much the selection but the cost. They make a decent range of lenses of equal quality to comparable lenses from other companies, but they demand a 30-40% premium for no reason other than being from Sony. If you don't care how much you spend you can cover all your needs with they're selection, but if you've got finding the lens that fits your needs at the price you want can be tricky. really too bad considering how nice the a700 is, also the a900 is a real piece of work (highest resolution full frame sensor available). Sony seams to market to people who are trendy gadget people first and photographers second. If you'd ever had a chance to check out the new a230/330/380's you'll find the body designs are much slicker and more styled compared to other brands (to the detriment of user comfort, IMO), and the UI is built for people with relatively little photography experience (the scene selection modes have help guides and sample photos IN CAMERA) If you're serious about photography go canon. Nikon is fine too, but seriously buy a canon. (sorry eugimon )
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Hah. Despite your fanboy enthusiasm for your chosen brand ( ) it's really not so clear cut. Nikon cropped frame cameras are pretty superior to Canon's offerings. Better high ISO performance versus slightly faster FPS and Nikon blows away Canon in autofocus performance and flexibility. Nikon also plays far better with multiple flash setups (ironically, I hate flash so I don't care about this) Canon really doesn't have an answer to the D90 and up. Lens performance matches up as well. It's only when you get to full frame and *recently* with the 5D mk II that canon has really regained their dominance. The D3x is a nice camera but its relatively poor low light performance means it's really best suited for the studio, not to mention its rather insane price point. There is one area where canon kick's Nikon's butt though... rabid fanboyism.
MaveRick Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) nothing really fancy.. just glad it didn't rained earlier.. wish i could afford to buy myself a DSLR camera too.. Edited July 8, 2009 by MaveRick
MaveRick Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 thanks eugimon.. last one before i doze off.. just squeezing my goody old digital camera to its limit: would have taken out those FPs if only i had more time for it..
Vegas Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 hey guys! nice pictures keep em coming.... im staying away from the century old canon vs nikon argument
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) Doze off? It looks like a goregous day where ever it is that you live... some sv-51, trying to get a handle on shooting black objects... Edited July 8, 2009 by eugimon
Vegas Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 nice angle! how did you manage to get that sv-51 on that position without the stand tipping over?
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 very carefully... lol. It's stable enough to take a picture... I just wouldn't leave it like that.
Knightdramon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 very carefully... lol. It's stable enough to take a picture... I just wouldn't leave it like that. Nothing to contribute picture-wise, but...really? That's how I used to leave mine and it stood fine without a trace of problem for weeks...
eugimon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Nothing to contribute picture-wise, but...really? That's how I used to leave mine and it stood fine without a trace of problem for weeks... I dunno, it's just a little bit top heavy. It stable but I have a 3year old in the house and if he bumped into the book shelf it might be enough to send it tumbling. Plus, I live in earthquake country...
PsYcHoDyNaMiX Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Excellent pics eugimon. I see you got some scratches on the faceplate as well. Mine has them on the opposite side.
