That said, the RM on Dainamu Chogokin strikes me as interesting. Why would the L.A.I. Co. need to do PR work? Especially, why PR work with transforming toys?!?

- some interesting notes, but alas, the revised edition never gave us pictures of the City Police Machine for space (aside from a couple of screen captures), and the Variable Armoured Vehicle (which gets named, but isn't shown aside from a single screen capture). T.T

Here's what I'm talking about (enjoy the picts, ignore the text):

City Police Machine: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceAir.php

City Police Machine For Space: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceSpace.php

Variable Armoured Vehicle: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/Stats/Statistics/VariablePolice/VariablePoliceGround.php

Admittedly those are hard to find images apparently printed in only one M7 related book. Nevertheless... I'm disappointed that the expanded coverage in the revised edition didn't get to them.

- some interesting notes about the various books - though, it's quite dry on the second read. Nevertheless, a good overview that definitely helps us book collectors know what to keep our eye out for.

Side note: argh! The content is like completely different from the original edition. Not just the layout, blurb and additional content - even the descriptions themselves are different. Looks like I'll have to do that sheet, too. >.<;;;

- again, a good compliment for the ones on the "4" sheet in the original addition, as well as a general guide.

Alas, it doesn't even scratch the surface on all the game related strategy guides that are chock full of line-art... on the other hand, it highlights how much Kodachi Ukyou's has become involved in shaping Macross post-Macross F.

MC miss N.U.N.S 03A!!!

As printed on the errata column on the inside of the back cover of #80:

"Mechanic Sheet: TF NUNS 03A is a missing number".

The MC pin set mail-in:

Some members got this quite early in the run, because they prepaid directly with the publishers. Others, like me, picked the magazines up every week at the bookstore, and had to wait until the 80th issue before the mail-in post card could be sent in.

Cutting the small triangles out was relatively easy. Getting them all glued in the right orientation on the right spots took a lot of time. And... the publisher recommends that you use something like clear tape to keep those little triangles affixed - as if you're missing even one, you don't get the pin set! So... on top of gluing them, there's also a layer or two of clear tape. Gah!

post-3910-0-65036900-1408503550_thumb.jpg

Nevertheless, I was expecting to wait "about a month" [as written on the card], and was pleasantly surprised when - less than 2 weeks after sending it in, it arrived. What's even more mind blowing is that it was right after the Bon summer vacation!

One very nice thing about the case is that there is both a stand and a hanging string on the back. I've mounted mine on the wall (shelf space is at a premium in Japanese houses).

Worldguide 12C: Super Long Range Emigrant Fleets: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php

- another mother load of info. I'm most satisfied that it attempts to focus on the SLREF other than the ones used as the settings for M7 and MF. And from that, we even get such things as a reference to Macross The Musiculture!

And... to top even those obscure notes - the name of the fleet that found and "colonized" Eden! It also indicates that a LOT of Emigrant Fleets left from Eden, too. :blink: ;;;

Though, the sheet seems a bit fishy, as it subtly re-categorizes the Megaroad Class fleets as the Short Range Emigrant Fleets (as mentioned in other sheets), and the New Macross Class fleets alone are the "Super Long Range Emigrant Fleets".

Though, one of the most impressive parts of the sheet is newly drawn image used to header the sheet: a clear representation of the composition of the (first? Megaroad Fleet: Noputi Baganisu (x3), Suvaaru Saran (x2), Picket Ship (x1), ARMD (3x, SDFM ver.), Oberth (x2), VF-4 (x5), unrecognizeable squiggle (x19) in addition to the Megaroad itself.

Weekly "Macross Chronicle Revised Edition Correction Stickers 2: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#SerGui

- quite a range of fixes - ranging from typographical and spelling errors, to major changes to the timeline! Some of the changes make a lot of sense (as they resolve questions spawned when originally translated), others blindsided me.

Also, take care when applying some of the stickers. It's possible to peel the sticker off (carefully!) if you've misaligned it and only part of it is attached to the paper - but even then, you might wreck the sticker (as I inadvertently did with the black background on the timeline sticker >.<).

These aren't like the cling-wrap stickers you put on cars. And although the waxy paper helps, its not foolproof. I found that using needle-nosed tweezers (for modelling) helped immensely. Take real care with the song list replacement sticker (start from the bottom up on that one).

Perhaps someone felt that there should be consequences to the loss of the Megaroad 1 in the Macross universe and thus the UNG of the day shortened the distances those fleets would be allowed to travel. Maybe the implication is that the UNG came to loose confidence in the Megaroad Class being able to do a super long range voyage... This could also explain the need for a new Long Range Emigration vessel like the City Ship.

#81: The General Index Issue: Front Cover, Mechanic section: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#SerGui

- the description of how they organize the pages implies that it has the definitive ordering of the Goods section. Something that has been sorely lacking to date.

Mechanic section: gah! What a slog! Alas, it appears to be limited to the mecha that have a picture AND a description (E.g.: no SDFM police bike (pictured but no description) nor VF-171 bomber (mentioned, but neither described nor pictured). So... me thinks we should take this general index as the "ultimate Macross Chronicle Revised Ed." index, and not the "ultimate Macross index". <sigh>

- considerably easier than the Mechanics section! That said, the inclusion of the illustrators' names on the Heroine Gallery and Gallery sheets was a chore. The order of the Song and Goods sheets is handy - they're basically in the Japanese syllabic order. Not sure if it's worth reorganizing them just yet...

Don't worry about the content - it's all on my HD in multiple formats.

As far as the hosting goes... I have no clue what's going on - there hasn't been any e-mail notification and even the cPanel login has been invalidated!

Maybe it's just the hosting company's way of saying upgrade to a paid account? Which seems right, as I've been with them for 1 year, and I've been changing hosts at a rate of once a year now... >.<

Agh... that sucks mightily.

If you need somewhere to park your site, you're welcome to as much space and bandwidth as you need on the M3 servers.

The following were completed over the past few days (and a twin desk for the kids!):

#81: The General Index Issue: Character Index, Back Cover: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#SerGui

- character section: as with the mechanic section, only the characters that had images and descriptions are included. It's also missing a bunch of (relatively important) characters that appeared in only the Glossary and some of the Mechanic sheets (though, it has "some" of the characters that appeared on Mechanics sheets!).

- back cover: I've noticed the Macross F Shikishi at a store near my home. Was waffling over trying one out. Glad I translated this, as it seems overpriced just for 1 piece of art per item.

Thank you for the offer. Over the weekend, I was mulling it over, and feel that it's a bit safer to keep all our Macross sites in separate baskets for the time being (if your site unexpectedly goes down, it would also take down Macross Mecha Manual and Sketchley Translations - depriving the world of a lot of Macross content in one blow!)

Nevertheless, I may take you up on the offer in the future. ;)

- spiffied this one up while converting it to html. On the plus side, the translation is greatly cleaned up (yeegawds, there were some missing parts, and others that were completely wrong in the Data column!). The big change between the two versions is the sheer number of "Main Pilots" added in the revised edition (!).

- I wasn't intending on finishing this one at this time. Honest! Just after stumbling across a partial translation and in the process of incorporating it, I realized that it was only a bit more work to polish it off (so he says after that "bit" turned into 3 days!).

Nevertheless, some very good points raised on the sheet, especially concerning Varohta battle tactics, Gigiru's role and strengths, and why he continually ended up being defeated.
