3 Macross rubber playmats are up for pre-order on Premium Bandai's site. They are aimed at trading card game players, and set to coincide with the release of the next Macross Crusade Trading Card Game Expansion (MC-07: Super-Dimensional Singers). Not sure any of this is new art, as the Crusade Game uses mostly screen grabs or recycles images from other sources. The Ranka and Sheryl Mats may be the images used for Ranka and Sheryl's cards in the expansion set, while the FB7 is combines the image from TotsuPlanetExplo with the images of the Durandal and Fire Valk used for the cards in in the game.

Dimensions are 300mm x 500mm, and are made in China of polyester with a natural rubber back. Priced at 3085 yen. Unlike most Premium Bandai items, these will be made available to card shops that sell the Crusade series cards, though most shops will probably only be ordering to cover pre-orders, not stocked for normal sale.

I confirmed it, too.

Reminded me of the Yamato 2199 last episode on TV.

I am so pre-ordering these. Will post pricing in the buy/sell forum once I have the cost info.

Chie Kajiura is planning to do a gig in Tokyo October.

Details (date/pricing) are tba.

The concert will be a combination Laboratory x Animania one, meaning we will get probably half Macross songs and half Chie originals.

Oh! "Tetsuko no Heya"!!!

You guys remember Macross F the episode 10 and this scene below.

Look at the woman who was sitting down on the right side of Miranda. She looks like the woman on the pic, right?

The show in the MF was obviously referred to the program.

When I watched that MF episode, I loled at it in the midnight.

Macross The Museum, the exhibit at the Ishinomori Manga Museum in Ishiomaki, will be holding a special, outdoor screening of Macross Do You Remember Love on May 4.

If the mockup is anything to go by, this is a unique screening that fans won't want to miss.

So, do you have to book for tickets for that ahead of time? I got a friend who's going to be dropping by the museum around that time.

No, its free. Although if your friend is concerned theres a phone number on the Ishinomori Manga Museum website that they can call to confirm.

This is weird. Brian Ashcroft wrote a piece which appeared in yesterday's edition of The Japan Times about Mario Kart 8 and Arcadia's GU-11 Gunpod. I have to say, I have never seen the word "Macross" in a headline in the Japan Times before (although there was a big article on Sayonara no Tsubasa in the English edition of the Mainichi Shimbun when that came out).

You can access the story at japantimes.co.jp. I cannot post the link here because (as I explained in the Help forum) the copy/paste function does not work for me.

Now, now. At least the music's good.

In other minor news, I've still yet to hear back from my friend who went to the outdoor DYRL screening at Ishinomori Manga Museum about which version of the movie they aired. Attendance to the Macross museum isn't high from the sounds of things. He got one of the limited 500 pins they made for visitors and he doesn't think they'll move them all from the number of people he saw when he was there.

I was there; it was the BD screening. We podcasted on it last weekend so once the editing is all done and the thing goes up you'll have all the details.

Oh god no. If I was there, the temptation to just throw my hands up and walk out would have been too great. Just as well I guess.

Looking forward to the trip report and the podcast.

But ever since the BD came out its the only version of DYRL that is screened theatrically. That doesnt make it right, but its certainly nothing to be surprised at. And it will be screened again on June 6 prior to the Macross 2 theatrical screening.
