Valkyrie addict Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Awesome, glad I'm not the only one, nice pictures. I need a better camera. Messed up a bit on the big 30 anniversary logo. Let me guess, the little antenna and the middle decal that did not align to the outer circle no matter how hard you try. Quote
alchemo Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I was really clumsy and actually wrecked the one with the cut-out and have to use the one that is a full circle. put lots of Tamiya mark-set and still there is a bit of wrinkle... For the little antenna, I made a little cut on the decal and let it get through. Quote
Scyla Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Did both of you use the water-slide decals or did someone bother to use the stickers? The one one the canopy color looks a little bit faded out. I assume this is due to the non opaque white background of the decal. Quote
alchemo Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) I tried the stickers first but could not get them to strech and follow the curves so I end up using the water slide decal. Edited September 25, 2013 by alchemo Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) I cut the upper part of the decal where the antenna goes in half then placed it and with the softener let it counter around it, it was not easy. I ended with some wrinkles too but near the hinge area. I used waterslide decals, i can't possibly fathom using standard decals, they would not shape around the many curved areas. alchemo Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Mine will probably stay in fighter mode as there are scratches on the clear coat after just one transformation... Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Reason why I didn't add a clear coat. Quote
alchemo Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm worried that the decal may be scratched or turn yellow later.. Quote
erikos0311 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 So Im a little late on this but I placed my order with HLJ for the VF-1J and hopefully have it delivered before the CON so i can have it autographed by Tenjin..... Im a little worried that it wont make it on time for the flight to Cali. My question is to all who got theirs from HLJ: what shipping option did you pick and how long did it actually take to show up at your doorstep?? I picked the Fastest shipping thru Fed-ex which states, 2-4 days.. I know its 2-4 days from the day that it actually leaves their warehouse, but how long have these badboys been taking??? Quote
skullmilitia Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Once shipped FedEx from HLJ is usually 2-3 days in the US Quote
jenius Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I handled mine some more and I still can't say if the parts that used to clearly be painted metal are now molded POM or metal that has been painted with a way better technique that now makes it identical to all the molded plastic parts. I mean, that seems far-fetched, but it's really that hard to tell. Has anyone tried scratching the parts to see what's underneath? Quote
SuperSenpai Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Could someone just ask Mr. K? He seems to be active with the Twitter thing. Quote

jenius Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Cool, mystery solved! I wonder if this perfect matching was special for the 30th or if the 1S toys will be the same. I like my funky 30th a lot though the priest collar is the worst I've ever seen. Quote
mog_kupo Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) It's on sale on CD-JAPAN, 30% off http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/goods/goods_detail.html?KEY=NEOGDS-88728 Edited October 4, 2013 by mog_kupo Quote

Gakken85 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Got mine today. Really enjoying the packaging, and I'm glad the box isn't a giant. haha. Just when I thought I had my box situation straightened out... Quote
derex3592 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I'm waiting for someone to take some really GOOD pictures of this thing in the real world with water slides applied so we can see what's what. DISREGARD ---just saw the pictures a couple of pages back. Quote
jenius Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Hey everyone, my review is up on anymoon and a video is on Youtube. Check 'em out! Quote
locidm Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 nice vid review of the 30th 1J. The paint scheme is better than I thought, and it does really flow very well, I was impressed with battroid mode's backpack. It also looks good without the decals. Quote
skullmilitia Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Still not feeling it. Just ain't my thing, sorry MrK! Quote
Gakken85 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Great review as always Jenius! Best in the business. Reminds me why I got into Macross collecting watching your videos. haha. Don't think I'm going to open mine so it's nice to see it out of the box. Edited October 10, 2013 by Gakken85 Quote
Reïvaj Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Still not feeling it. Just ain't my thing, sorry MrK! You must know it's not MrK's design but Tenjin's. Quote
jenius Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Yeah but MrK is still an Arcadia team member that would want people to buy the toy so it still makes sense to say you're sorry for not being into it. Quote
skullmilitia Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Yeah it's a cool design, but not at that price. I wish I could give the money's to Arcadia! Quote
Gakken85 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 You'll give them plenty when the yf-19 comes out haha Quote
Reïvaj Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Hey everyone, my review is up on anymoon and a video is on Youtube. Check 'em out! Any reason for not including Veef5's Shapeways shoulder replacements in the Aftermarket Accessories of your Yamato&Arcadia VF-1 review? Edited October 10, 2013 by Reïvaj Quote
skullmilitia Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 You'll give them plenty when the yf-19 comes out hahaThat and the VF-1S Roy next month.I'm doing my best! Haha Quote
Gakken85 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Think ill cancel my arcadia focker since I found a low viz. That's enough focker for me haha Quote
SuperSenpai Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 The paint scheme is not my cup of tea, but I do think they did a great job applying the paint and tampo printing. Also glad to hear that the swing bar is still metal, and that they improved the paint application for the metal parts. I hope they keep that in any further VF-1 reissues they do. I understand Arcadia's need to charge more to be profitable, but anything they can do to convince us that there's at least some added value in terms of design upgrades or extra accessories will go a long way in convincing those of use who own multiple VF-1s to pick up the reissues. Great review Jenius. So this is a random question but I've always wondered why the site domain name is "anymoon.com", especially when the actual page name and YouTube channel are called "Scorched Earth Toys". And is it weird that I find your voice oddly soothing? There's been more than a few times where I've been watching one of your video reviews late at night and have been lulled to sleep by it. Quote
jenius Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Any reason for not including Veef5's Shapeways shoulder replacements in the Aftermarket Accessories of your Yamato&Arcadia VF-1 review? Primarily it's because I don't have any toys left with broken shoulders so I haven't had a need for those particular accessories and generally the site is stuff I've used and fiddled with. Besides, Veef has access to collectiondx which has orders of magnitude more traffic than anymoon. Great review Jenius. So this is a random question but I've always wondered why the site domain name is "anymoon.com", especially when the actual page name and YouTube channel are called "Scorched Earth Toys". I don't own anymoon.com so I set it up this way in case I got kicked off. Fortunately, the site now generates almost exactly as much revenue as it costs to host so it's unlikely I'll be forced to move it. And is it weird that I find your voice oddly soothing? There's been more than a few times where I've been watching one of your video reviews late at night and have been lulled to sleep by it. I think it's just because my video reviews are boring! That is why I make the transformation videos separate... I'm afraid I'd put everyone to sleep otherwise. Quote
