TehPW Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Good to know, finally. Sadly, TM has been nothing but people bitching about the lack of updates on the site, to the point of idiots linking to other, more active sites... derp. Quote
areaseven Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 The official Facebook page just posted this: Quote
David Hingtgen Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Dang it, you beat me by seconds. ::edit:: Several distinctive real-world identifiable buildings in there, not that good an effort for a "future city". I'll let others make the comparison/blatant ripoff comments of the overall design. Quote
Dynaman Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 ::edit:: Several distinctive real-world identifiable buildings in there, not that good an effort for a "future city". Without them people would not make the assumption that it is Earth. Quote
Kelsain Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Well, we've never seen London in Star Trek before! Quote
EXO Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Dang it, you beat me by seconds. ::edit:: Several distinctive real-world identifiable buildings in there, not that good an effort for a "future city". I'll let others make the comparison/blatant ripoff comments of the overall design. It's like they hire the same company every year to design posters. Quote
TehPW Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 well if they wanted all the planets nerds to start b*tching... well we are, LOL. Gary, Garth or Khan? Can't be Lazarus (Benny had no beard in the stills)... So... are you folks gonna bring Happy Socks when you go see Teh Hobbit in a couple weeks? 9mins of film is about average lenght of YP clips, so that 9min clip better be good porn... Quote
UN Spacy Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Meh, it's just a teaser placeholder. Although they did handle the previous movie's much better. Quote

Kelsain Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) Not to nitpick, but it seems to me that dude (whoever he is) is coming out of darkness... Edited December 5, 2012 by Kelsain Quote
Mercurial Morpheus Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Looks like Gary Mitchell to me. Preferable to Khan, but not sure how I feel about the rest of it. Quote
taksraven Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Japanese version. 10 seconds of extra footage. You tell me what movie it is, 'cause it's obvious..... Quote
the white drew carey Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 You tell me what movie it is, 'cause it's obvious..... Star Trek: Into Darkness. Am I right?!? Quote
anime52k8 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 >snip< I feel like a joke about Spock cutting someones face off and making it into a decorative lampshade belongs in here somewhere. Quote
Wasabi-san Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Just read through the whole thread...my two cents here...Star Wars was in the past, and Star Trek is in the future (whichever timeline you want). However, someone didn't learn from the past. I just hope the new movie is good, but PLEASE, change the design of the Enterprise! The reboot version is FUUUGGGLLLYYY!!! Quote
Mommar Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Japanese version. 10 seconds of extra footage. You tell me what movie it is, 'cause it's obvious..... Looks like Star Wars/Cloverfield with a blatant homage scene to Star Trek 2 and a story that mimes it. Quote
JetJockey Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 JJ Abrams is still showing his dislike of Star Trek. If you thought having the Enterprise constructed on Earth was bad, wait to you see this trailer. The thing is, if this was a Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets trailer I would think it's awesome. In fact, I would be excited and say I can't wait to see it. But this is Star Trek and I see little from Star Trek in it. Quote
TehPW Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) opinions and anuses, people (we all have both) ... Im excited, which was the point of JJ's marketing crew. Now besides the negative, let's hear your other thoughts about this clip? Edited December 6, 2012 by TehPW Quote
Chronocidal Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Actually, that trailer gives me hope that the JJprise might be going away faster than we expected. But yeah. I'd rather this wasn't Khan, but I don't know why Gary Powers would have that accent. Either way, he doesn't look the part for Khan. Also, I'm suspicious of them using such an obvious homage. Given the order of events in that bit, I think the situation may be directly reversed. What I really do wonder about though is whether they're going to attempt to backtrack, and shoehorn Carol Marcus into this timeline from the start. Quote
TehPW Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 im just curious if that cruiser that crashs into the harbor is the JJprise, another of her class, or a KelvinPrise (which is surprising a nice version of that sceme) Quote
electric indigo Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 But this is Star Trek and I see little from Star Trek in it. Yeah where did all the boredom and corniness go? Quote
big F Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 At least we know that the JJprise is water proof. Super hammer thing that they bad guy (who ever he turns out to be) is swinging arround is very Brute from Halo / Space Marines / Final Fantasy. Quote
Chronocidal Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 You know what they really need? A villain with a motivation that isn't based on events that occurred entirely offscreen. Nero was bad enough, since you only really knew what happened if you read that comic book prequel. Now another guy shows up vowing vengeance for something that we've probably never heard of. Really. If it IS Khan, what's he going off about vengeance for? The Botany Bay wasn't a penal colony ship. Khan used it to escape Earth, looking for a new place to go. Unless in this version they decide that he vows to destroy everything because he's still pissed at being defeated... ugh. I still can't see how this guy could be Khan though. "Khan Noonien Singh" really doesn't sound anything like "blue-eyed, black-hared, pasty-white dude wielding a gatling gun." Quote
peter Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 looks alright to me. Don't think I've ever seen the Enterprise underwater so I'm curious to see what that's all about. Once scene looks like it's rising from the water, another looks like it's going in. Either way, hope the Enterprise is going to get a refit because I'm still not a fan of the secondary hull being placed so forward. Quote
azrael Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Like most teasers, it didn't present me with enough to go on to say Yes or No to this movie. But it was nice to hear Benedict Cumberbatch's voice (yes, I am suffering from Sherlock-withdrawal and we have to wait until March '13 till they start filming...FILMING... Season 3 ). Quote
Mr March Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I just checked out the first episode of Series 2 of Sherlock yesterday. I'm in BC overdose right now. Great to see him on the big screen in what looks like a scene-stealing role. Hope the movie is good. Quote
EXO Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Oh yeah. Cumberbatch is an awesome modern Sherlock. I didn't realize he was the villain in this util I saw the trailer. As soon as I saw it I said... Sherlock! He'll be in The Hobbit with Watson too. Or to me he's Tim from The Office. If they ever made a Sandman movie I hope they get Cumberbatch. I hear the guys that did the guns for this movie were awesome though... so awesome they gave them these coffee mugs... Quote
Lobizon Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Not Every Hobbit IMAX Screening Will Feature The Star Trek 9-Minute Prologue So Check This List Quote
Mommar Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 I find it sad that Alabama has three places to see it and New Mexico doesn't even have an Imax theater. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hm.....I dunno yet, have to wait and see. I did enjoy the last one despite all the trekkies yammering negatively. I guess I'm just ready for a reboot on this franchise it had gotten very stale. Quote
the white drew carey Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) OK, so there is speculation that it isn't the Big E coming out of the water. I watched it frame by frame, and it is hard to tell from the perspective whether or not it really is. There seems to be some play of shadows between the two nacelles that wouldn't be there if it is the Enterprise. Also, I guess that is not the Enterprise crashing into the water, as the pylons seem to be too long, and have an length-wise indentation on the inside of the pylon that isn't present on the Enterprise. So, could it be that the teaser simply doesn't show the E at all? Edited December 7, 2012 by the white drew carey Quote
