logos Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) The Angel on my shoulder has taken a staggering blow and the devil has risen as I see Angolz has the Yf-21 on for $175.00 US. Now with shipping ($43.32 EMS whats and extra $10 bucks to get it 1-2 weeks sooner!) that comes out to $215.90 US or $271.950 CAD. FYI $259 if I go Air Parcel. Ugh! That price looked really attractive till I worked out the Canadian conversion....Is it worth it though? There was no way I was buying it at $200+ but now I am torn. 5 months ago this would have been a no brainer......Damn you Canadian Dollar! Decide my fate! Do I buy the toy and live off carbohydrates for a month or keep that precious precious protien in my diet! Also it comes with a display stand correct? Edited March 17, 2009 by logos Quote
kanedaestes Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Hells yes it is worth it. It truly is amazing. I just got one myself and I am constantly transforming it, which is difficult at first but you get used to it quickly. It does come with it's own stand. It is a yamato that has very few flaws, and a lot of cool features to it and it is very accurate in its translation. You need to buy one, it is an amazing valk to own. Quote
Jasonc Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I vote yes, get it...If you can at least eat ramen, then you're good to go. I've been more than happy with mine. Not a single complaint on my end for the YF-21. Quote

Also it comes with a display stand correct? We all hv lost our angel wings & devil hv grown horns onto our head, hahaha YF-21 is a great toy & it does come with a similar display stand as the SV-51s but in white transparent colour. Quote
Britai 7018 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 its funny you mention this... I just bought the YF-21 from Angolz yesterday at that exact price and with the exact same dilemma as you. So you know my vote! GO FOR IT! Quote
sidearmsalpha Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I think if you can be more patient, you can score one on eBay for less. I was able to get one for roughly $180, which includes shipping from a reliable US seller. Quote
Negotiator Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 If there's one that's truly woth 200+, it's the 21....and sv-51. Just get it and be happy! Quote
Mog Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 No. Only the most decisive and determined of people can handle the bastard love-child that is the YF-21. Did Guld have to consult a committee before he volunteered to take on the Ghost X-9?!! Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Voted yes. I'm planning on getting a second 21 this year. You only live once. Pete Quote
Vegas Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 nice custom work moq! didnt see that pic before! Quote
arrow Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I would vote yes if you already have the yf-19. Quote
BlueMax Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Yes! get it off ebay at a good price? yeah, you probably can, but you'll have to watch out for such good deals like a hawk and they don't always come by that often. Why wait so damn hard? See a need, fill a need. (especially at a reasonable price) Quote
Letigre Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 It is an admitted itch, considering I already have a !/72 and a GNU. I do have other things on my wishlist I'd like just as much, but having the hat-trick of Yamato 21's is becoming a temptation that is just getting hard to ignore. Quote
nugundamII Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 as a Canuck. I say wait The americans will be worse off shortly and you will see a fire sale of collections going up shortly on ebay. Trust me When I wanted the 1/48 stealth I waited almost 2 years for it and got it next to nothing brand new same goes for all my PG gundams. Who would have thunk that I would get the PG Wing for 130 CDN shipped. I remember them selling for 399 at pacific mall in toronto trust me be patient good things to those who wait Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 it's the best valk Yamato has produced after the 1/48, no flaws and beautiful it's certainly worth it every penny... Quote

Afterall you can eat plastic or make it run your car Quote
miriya Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I voted buy it. Consider it a Ramen Cleanse Diet. MSG never killed anyone right? Plus a juicy 1/2 pound cheezeburger with bacon will taste SOOOOO much better after being deprived for a spell. It is like when you quit drinking for a while and then you become a cheap date again. That alone makes it worth the $$. Plus think about your arteries. One practical reccommendation I do have is to not use the flavor packets but instead buy a little tub of Miso paste and use a spoonful of that in the hot water instead. That is MUCH healthier than the MSG crap. Also you can get cheap vegies if you go to your local farmers market right before they close the farmers often give vegies away that they cant sell. Good luck! Quote
Macette Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Buy it! i Just got mine yesterday, and i'm in love with it. Quote
Project Phoenix Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Vote? Who needs a stinking vote?! Buy the valk already!!! Quote
logos Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) Awesome! About what I was expecting from this group. I'll decide whether or not take the plunge Thursday/Friday (with your opinions and vote heavily affecting my decision of course!). Currently working on some cost saving measures so I can avoid the guilty about it 3 months from now. What's really killing me is that $280 ($90 a piece + exchange + $45 shipping) I just paid for 2 destroids......the pain! Anyone who ordered from Angolz end up paying any duty once they received it? I haven't yet from Overdrive which is one of the main reasons I usually order from them. Oh and yes I do own a YF-19 which is why I would love to buy a YF-21 and VF-11 to go with it. MacrossJunkie Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Come on, no hesitation. You know you're ultimately going to buy it anyway... Just do eeeet! It's one of Yamato's best engineered VF toys. The fighter mode is super sleek and looks fantastic. And the battroid mode looks pretty bad ass too. It's calling to you, just listen carefully Quote
Arthurius Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 i am Canadian too. Just make SURE you buy from someone that is both reputable, but also, VERY importantly, that will declare toy as gift, and low value (say 20$). If you dont, or the seller doesnt, then you will pay both duty and tax. Now, that if you buy international, except from the states. If you buy from the states, there is a chance you still pay some duty, though not too high, maybe like 20$. I am myself waiting for a repaint, but damn, nothing is getting announced... however, did buy some nice stuff, at excellent prices, from Valkirie Exchange, when he had pre-orders, and didnt pay no duty or taxes Quote

VFTF1 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 So - why haven't you praised yourself for buying it yet? Pete Quote

When ordering from Overdrive or tisinc99 I have never payed duty. When ordering from Hobby Link I have payed duty. Quote
logos Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) FYI here is my collection so far. I collect some other toys besides Macross and included those to. There are the 2 Master Chiefs that I keep at work to guard my monitors and some Todd Mcfarlan Dragons that I bought at an extremely weak moment at a hobby store 2 years ago. It's not much but I only started last year. I know for sure that this year I wanted to add: VF-1D Spartan And now an OD green Defender Maybe some GN-Us as well. Especially a Reguld although I don't think it's a GNU. Up in the air are (as they are so expensive!): YF-21 VF-11B Edited January 22, 2009 by logos Quote
holytoledo69 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Damn, I'm tempted to get this as well. Its the only Yamato I don't have in my collection. But for that price even with shipping is very tempting. Quote
kanedaestes Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I fail to see why this thread is still going on. All those on the fence should just jump and get it. It truly is one of Yamato's best and worth buying. GO PICK IT UP!!!!! Quote

rusted180 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 you know what?.....i've been thinking the same damn thing. arghhh!!! i wish i didn't have an addiction to cel collecting....cuz that's what i spend most of my money on. it all started with collecting 70's 80's japanese toys to now....anime cels (particularly dyrl)....whoops if mokman is reading this, i bet he'll harass me to setup that rubberslug gallery well i'm running off topic, but anyways i want this valk too...i hear a lot of great things about it. looks pretty accurate to the anime too.
