EXO Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 that translation says nothing, but the pictures rule!!! Quote
dr_vandermeer Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 THAT. IS. AWESOME. And diecast?! DAMN! Quote
Toonz Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 fantastic but 240mm at 15,540yen is too expensive for that size..... Quote
UN Spacy Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Page displays kinda funky on Firefox and Opera so I did some resizing. Quote
EXO Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 THAT. IS. AWESOME. And diecast?! DAMN! I'm guessing that it's same amount of diecast as the old Taka. Just for transformation purposes. I gotta say though, ABS and Diecast for that price is very very good. Quote
recon Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) Now the question due to the statement that its a model, so do we have to paint it or does it come prepainted. If its prepainted, taking into consideration that it's of diecast and abs construction, then i would say the price is just about right for me. Cheers Edited October 19, 2006 by recon Quote
Mog Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 So a little over US$130 (before taxes and shipping). So does the 240mm mean from feet to head or from feet to the tips of the main guns? Personally, I'd still like to see the Macross in a scale that makes it slightly (but noticeably) larger and bigger than the 1/48 Valks. Gotta make the namesake of the series stand out in the display! DARKWIND Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Just tell me where to preorder it from and its mine. . . . Quote
recon Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 think it should be around the height when displayed in battroid (erm did i get that wrong) along side that of the 1/48 VF-1 (w/o Fps), 1/60 Vf0 and 1/60 YF19. Quote
kensei Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 This is awesome adn the price is not bad either. I'd get only three at most. Quote
Mog Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) If we're talking the 240mm (24cm) being measured from head to feet for the Macross, then yeah it probably is comparable to the 1/48 VF-1's. But if the 240mm measurement is from the top of the big guns to the feet (with the guns in the position they're in in these pictures), I'm guessing it would look "smaller" than the various Valks that recon mentioned. chowyunskinny Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) smaller pic of fortress mode with stand [attachmentid=37327] and the other pic with kanji [attachmentid=37328] 240mm is about 9.5 inches damn, too bad it's not 1/3000 like the old Taka (tapping foot waiting for the Alpha Counter from Yamato) Edited October 19, 2006 by chowyunskinny Quote
cube Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 yea, i imagine the height would be from the top of the guns to the feet...making this thing...small looks perty though Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) Wow! Hmm... so we got the YF-19, possibly the 1:1 TV Style helm.. i can't afford this and them! Whats the chances of them releasing the TV style SDF not far after this one? $130 US..... When does this hit the streets? Edited October 19, 2006 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
wolfx Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Could this possibly be the item graham is hinting about? From the description, i can see "ABS" and "PVC" but not sure about die cast. You guys sure bout this? Even if there's diecast, i'm sure its gonna be bare minimum to hold some joints. Quote
aaajin Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 whooott!! this is great news! I hope this comes out as a toy rather than a model cause Im too lazy to build one...but since its from Wave, I wouldnt set my hopes too high this would be nice as a backdrop for 1/48's photoshooting...as if the SDF is at a distance away... Fort Max Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) Could this possibly be the item graham is hinting about? From the description, i can see "ABS" and "PVC" but not sure about die cast. You guys sure bout this? Even if there's diecast, i'm sure its gonna be bare minimum to hold some joints. If Graham knew about this then he shouldn't have had to hide it being as it has nothing to do with Yamato. Either way it's pretty awesome, I will look into affording it when it comes out. btw, anyone esle think the acronym for the line is hilarious? Edited October 19, 2006 by Fort Max Quote
isamu_dyson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) as said in the description (post 1): About 240mm: At the fortress warship . so it'll be a little bigger in "attacker" mode. Edited October 19, 2006 by isamu_dyson Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Well, it'd wanna be for the price tag. Quote
Retracting Head Ter Ter Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 What is PVC doing on this thing! It looks good in the pics. But if it needs painting...nah. Quote
aaajin Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 prolly to save some money on paint color because PVC's are normally in that shade of grey rite? just my thoughts Quote
CF18 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) From what I can read, it's a completed product - i.e. constructed and painted. Source of thes pics: http://happy.ap.teacup.com/runchickens/255.html Edit: Adding two more slightly different pics from HK newsgroup. Are the 'legs' of DYRL Macross suppose to be that far apart in ship mode? Edited October 19, 2006 by CF18 Quote
kensei Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Crikey, things are moving fast on this product. Next thing you know we have preorders going up by tomorrow. Quote
Ghadrack Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) That picture in CF-18's post, on the right, is that a 1/60 VF-0s next to the SDF-1? If so, ummm, yeah I like this scale..... Edit..... Wait I am an idiot, if thsi is Wave's table then that would likely be their 1/72 Vf-0S Battroid kit. Still, I think the scale is not terribly small and I'd buy one or two for that price if I am not mistaken. ~Edit number 2, OK I was under the incorrect assumption that the Wave kit was 1/72.....Doh, every time I look back at the thread it keeps getting smaller. Time for me to shut up and get out a ruler Edited October 19, 2006 by Ghadrack Quote
isamu_dyson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 their battroid valks are not 1/72 .. they are non scaled, 15cm high Quote
mechaninac Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) ...btw, anyone esle think the acronym for the line is hilarious? I have no idea what you mean... WHAM! This SDF-1 is like a bolt out of the blue, isn't it? It is a bit pricey, but it looks so good that if it is confirmed that it is fully transformable, and pre-painted with minor assembly, I'm very tempted to pre-order one. Does anyone know if HLJ will be carrying this thing... the 5% early bird discount will make the deal a little sweeter. Edited October 19, 2006 by mechaninac Quote
Knight26 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 F'n sweet, and for 150 that isn't too bad Quote
isamu_dyson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Adding two more slightly different pics from HK newsgroup. Are the 'legs' of DYRL Macross suppose to be that far apart in ship mode? not quite sure Quote
Mechwarrior Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 So this is the same mold as the Yellow Submarine model, I wonder how durable it is, since the model itself is resin and kinda heavy i hope this does not break as soon as it is transformed. Quote
isamu_dyson Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) the wave model is made of diecast + abs + pvc (for details). i think it's more durable than resin i dont think they'be used the yellow sub mold. it's 1/4000 and this one is 1/5000 ... and the proportions are quite different : http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models...macrossdyrl.htm Edited October 19, 2006 by isamu_dyson Quote
