MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Here's the smallest first, the "base" will tell you the size. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Here it is with custom case and canopy opened - Yeah I put hinges on those things. The canopy is slightly higher than the original design - only because I didn't have the MPM book yet. The fan blade spins too! Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Fantastic Job! Where on earth did you find those? Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Last fanjet view with box shut and from the side. Laser engravers rock! Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Thank you. You caught me in the middle of posting the rest of the photos. I scratchbuilt them a couple of years ago. Some people asked to see them, so I'm posting them. How's the weather in L.A.? That's originally my hometown area. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 The EC-33B was the first one I built. I didn't have the materials to do windows, so I went for decals. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Top view with stupid white paint that yellowed some already (three years). I was overseas and could only get some cheap stuff. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 What good is your "ride" without some horses under the hood! Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Why such large seams? Because it comes apart so when I move AGAIN due to my job, I can pack it safely. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Mom's Kitchen is a resin copy I made several of for my Daedalus model. The VIP's gotta cruise around in somethin' cool. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 The wing parts are not glued on/filled yet. Let alone any apinting. In fact, these shots are all taken on the foam case they're packed in. I'm moving soon... anybody in Jolly Ole' England out there? Quote
Grayson72 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Ok those are sooo cool! Any chance you'd make those in say 1/72 scale? You look like you can scratch build anything. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 I should have added more shadow so the panel lines stand out. None of the landing gear or bay doors are on yet either. They'll break way too easily in the move. Quote
Gabe Q Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 All I can say is, "Wow!" I can't wait to see what your Daedalus looks like. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 And the last one I just had to do because it sounded/looked like a good idea! My aplologies to the extreme purists. Quote
MechTech Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 Thanks guys. I would love to build large scale resin kits. The VC-33 was designed as a "kit." For now, everything is an accessory to the Daedalus. My problem is time (I'm moving soon) and is going to be cost when I move to the UK-making American money. I've done it before and it was pricey - without children. Now I have two! I can help with making plans or views if anyone wants. It's all in the planning - really. I have the VC-33 in plans views (Powerpoint) for anyone that wants it e-mailed to them. Just drag it up to 1/72nd scale. As a side note, I love 1/72nd the most! But I can put a whole 1/200 valkyrie flight in the footprint of one 1/72nd valk on my shelf. Quote
HWR MKII Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Where in the UK are you moving to Mech? Im at Lakenheah. Quote
Capt Hungry Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 wow. Those are very, very cool. It's always cool to see other mecha from Macross. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Thank you. You caught me in the middle of posting the rest of the photos. I scratchbuilt them a couple of years ago. Some people asked to see them, so I'm posting them. How's the weather in L.A.? That's originally my hometown area. 312597[/snapback] Those are simply amazing, I would like a set of the blueprints you are offering. BTW, it is just hot and humid out here today. As soon as you step outside you feel as if you hit a wet, sticky, wall of heat. Yuck!! Hopefully you can one day come and visit your old home, I'm located by the LAX. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 (edited) Very very nice, love the fan jet. Edited July 20, 2005 by Black Valkyrie Quote

neptunesurvey Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 That is some beautiful work. So are they 1/200 scale? Quote
MechTech Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 All of the aircraft are one two hundred. I guess I'm trying to get at least one of everything in 1/200 scale (since that's what I have the most of and room for. Quote
hellohikaru Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Those are very very cool . I would love to see a 1/72 Fanjet and Tunny. Any chance of a Dragon and Karyobin ? Quote
Berttt Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Very slick work man. It always has me baffled how people can make models from scratch like that. Cheers, Berttt Quote
Ranger565 Posted July 22, 2005 Posted July 22, 2005 Man that awsome. To Me these are the Kits in 1/72 we should be trying to make. This is TV stuff we dont have and would be Nice to have. Just a shame I dont think many other people share my thoughts on this. Quote
MechTech Posted July 22, 2005 Author Posted July 22, 2005 I will very seriously consider making 1/72nd kits - after I move. Being a proffesional modeler would be my dream job. I know what it's like to try and find something you want, and can't get it. The resurgence in Macross products has been awesome! I was able to get stuff I couldn't find or afford before. Quote

MechTech Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 I'm moving in September. I'm rushing to get the Daedalus laser cuts done within the next week. So far I've got the bridge and side parts done. Ramp parts are getting started tonight. Quote
