I don’t know too much about him. All I know is that when a movie company says they’re basing something off a storyline from a beloved run or graphic novel from a comic, they rarely end up being as good as that. I do still think there’s always a chance this movie might be good, but the trailer is definitely not showing it. But as I’ve said, if I do end up hearing it’s really good, I might check it out, but probably still gonna wait for streaming. I don’t know that I ever really cared for Supergirl, so maybe that’s another reason I’m not too excited about her.

Its 2025.... where are you in the macross universe
TehPW replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Movies and TV Series
Probably still looking for that 5/8" Deep-well Socket (3/8" drive), per the missing tool report I had to write up for QA on Prometheus, back in 2009... ten minutes before the ship turned into two ships... -
Whats Lying on your Workbench MK IV

Shape is mostly done, it’s the inner backplate that needs some adjustment. The part should be tapered at the back. Right now it’s a bit THICC. -
Looking good! What’s the new profile for the calves going to look like.

The details of all those FSS kits are just so beautiful to see in process and finished. Of all the kits my favorite is still the Emerald Jagd Mirage with its long twin spires. —— On another note, the gunpod sits well in fighter mode. And the reduced intake shrouds rest in the perfect place. Calves still need to be finished and the inner backplate needs to be addressed. But all said, it’s looking good. -

Not sure how deniable a several-hundred-megawatt laser cannon strike from a light second away would be. It's not a capability that most forces would have, so it'd be pretty easy to narrow it down. It'd definitely be sudden and unexpected, though a VF would not even be able to close the distance in a reasonable span of time to capitalize on the strike without a fold booster. (Even at 7km/s that's a 14 hour flight.) It is described as being use for "sniping" though... a more correct use of the word than what goes on in Frontier at the very least, shooting from a frigging light second away. The particle beam version is described as having been used in a stealth counterterrorism operation that involved ambushing a small fleet of rebel Zentradi ships occupying a factory satellite and disabling them by shooting out their power systems. -
I may take you up on that! Right now, I do wonder if I can restore this with the parts on hand, even though I think the metal parts shown will be pitted at best when done. For those who remember, no, I haven't touched that (similarly sun-damaged) VT-1, as I think that might not be salvageable with how brittle it is. This Jetfire seems more of a hopeful case.

This would be a pretty limited scenario, presumably only against rebel colonists or other protoculture sub-races (which all seem to be fairly primitive). I don't think action against Zentradi or Supervision Army forces would need any deniability. -

Cody Rhodes looks MUCH more like Guile than Van Damme ever did! The others look a little slim compared to their videogame counterparts, but I take the game versions as stylized and not realistic. All the same: I'll give this a chance. -
I have the remains of a junker Jetfire 1/55; I have most of the metal parts except for the left shoulder hinge (dunno where it is, I can look if you'd like). Here's a pic: Let me know if you would like these and I'll set them aside for you. I can pull the metal parts out of the plastic for you (plastic is sun-damaged) so you don't have to worry about messing with that.

Thanks. White rust would seem to be what this is called. That assumes that Bandai used Chrome-plated Zamak for the diecast parts. Can anyone confirm they did? Looking things up in general, it seem like electrolysis is the most effective method of removal, but bathing the parts in vinegar and maybe lemon juice for awhile could do the job too. I just hoped someone here had been through this already and had more valk-specific advice. Blue/green sounds like it might be limescale too, come to think of it. That might be a different situation.

One of the other toy shops I go to is charging $160 per toy if you pay cash when the items arrives. I haven’t done a preorder through them before but this was all setup with them last month with the tariffs already at full swing. -
The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
M'Kyuun replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I was recently pondering getting Siyang Culture's legends scaled train bots when a blast from the past popped up: Pocket Toys' KO of the Iron Factory Combaticons/Bruticus. I was still trying to avoid jumping down the legends rabbit hole when these originally came out, and I've harbored a small pang of regret every time pics of it pop up. So when this appeared, and at a decent price (guess it's actually sold even cheaper, but I wasn't aware of that until I'd already bought it), I gave a few minutes consideration before lobbing it into my cart. I didn't end up getting the train bots, though. War Giant Not without its flaws, but it also has its charms. I love the chonkiness of both the individual bots and the final combined mode. What's more, unlike Hasbro's Bruticus, no frame necessary.- 9390 replies

Or wait until April when it will be everywhere again and prices will fall back down. Have fun toy hunting in Japan though, it's a kick! Maybe you'll get lucky.

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next
M'Kyuun replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Lucky! Not only that you have a local shop that sells the official stuff, and early no less! but that they sell third party stuff. The closest thing I have to that is a little mom and pop collectibles store that happened to get their hands on a local collector's estate sale. I bought FT's Brawn from them. We have a couple vintage toy sellers that also sell current stuff, but they don't deal with any third-party wares, unfortunately. I'd love it if we had a store akin to BBTS here in town. There's always a mark-up, but you also get the instant gratification.- 17896 replies

it doesn't pop up frequently enough on Mandarake/Jungle yet to have a good chance of ending up in a retail branch. Better use a proxy like buyee to buy it now/soon from Yahoo fleamarket (several listings available currently around 60k yen price) and send it to your JP hotel/accomodation from buyee warehouse afterwards.

Do some research first... This probably works with some metals better than others. For my faucet handle (Delta Portwood I believe), the inside of the handle corroded and had blue green build up. I removed the plastic bits and soaked everything in vinegar for a few hours. Vinegar got rid of the build up and I was able to lube it all up and put it back together and it works great now.

Kinda my thought there too. I'm going in with a lot of skepticism where this is concerned, thanks to Whinerman, and the first posts about peeing had me fearing, but it was just the dog, so I don't mind that. (well, I kinda mind the dog, but oh well...) But, for a first trailer, not bad. They need some different music, as I am not much of a Blondie fan, but I like the visuals and I can get and understand where she's dealing with a lot of stress and pain. She was a young adult when Krypton was destroyed, after all. So, feeling a little optimistic amid my skepticism.

I'll try that. I presume just the metal parts should be immersed? How long did you have to do it? I assume the chrome plating is lost. Was that the case with the handle?
