One more opened Hi Metal brownie. This time comes in a well banged box. Still have to open in to see if everything is good. Also, very impressive shipping time. Left Japan 29/03 and picked it up in Mexico 3/04 via EMS.

Don't know if this is update worthy, but I feel bad when I don't keep posting things to keep this thread going. Hopefully others can jump in with things they're working on as well, but in the meanwhile I thought I'd share some of the rabbit holes I keep finding myself in lately. As an example, I have no interest in messing with the Macross characters, but in learning animation to make the planes move, and then also thinking it would be cool to have background characters so that the game settings I've been building don't feel abandoned, I've somehow now ended up tinkering with the Uta Macross idol models. Like the M30 models, these are very well detailed and a great example to learn from, both in how to model efficient topology and also in how to build an effective armature, which helps me with what I'm doing with the planes. The end result, though, is that I now have a folder full of weirdly posed models of the Macross singers that is somehow way more embarassing to be seen with than the folders full of imaginary planes I've been working on so far. 😉 I thought it might be funny if, somewhere in my game environment, you could come across Sheryl or Kaname on a random park bench, and when you approached a bunch of bodyguards would come out of nowhere and throw you off the nearest balcony. So now I'm learning event triggers and other fun things in Unity. 😄 I've also come back to my beloved VF-25s and made a VF-1D colored trainer version (one of my favorite schemes) and started messing with Super and Armor packs to work out ways to easily equip the planes in-game. Didn't realize there was a custom version of the packs for the YF-25 (my favorite plane), so that was another nice discovery in the files. Also putting these models in scenes together highlights once again the crazy scale of Macross. A valkyrie is super cool, but it's also ridiculously big, the shot of Sheryl sitting on the foot shows it better than anything. Oh well, maybe one of these days, I'll actually have a working environment where stuff will happen, but in the meanwhile, here are a couple of screenshots to pass the time.

Also FYI, for USA buyers, the $449 base console price is not adjusted for tariffs. Me? Maybe pushing this purchase to Black Friday...2026.

Forbes, IGN, Gamespot, Ars Technica, looks like walmart.com briefly listed $80 for World digital, not seeing $50 anywhere unless you buy the bundle, which is disingenuous to the price considering not everyone wants the game and will buy the bundle, that's the bundle price not the stand alone game's price. At this point it's on Nintendo to clear things up then, plenty of listings went up from different retailers for varying prices, most showing $80 for digital Mario Kart. It's not about the fall of the industry, more about plenty of people have gotten tired of Nintendo's nonsense, pricing, business tactics, and now being the biggest of the big three they're making some very Ubisoft decision with the Switch 2. Once again then, Nintendo needs to give more details. What games are actually on cart? What about the Switch 2 game upgrade pricing for Switch 1 games? They're vagueness and lack of details aren't helping the situation at all. Plenty of leaks and accidental listings have proven true for just about every detail about Switch 2, until Nintendo officially clears some of this up I have zero reason to believe most of this nonsense I'm reading is true. Years of, at minimum questionable business tactics, lack of care for game preservation, insane prices for hardware and software, the joycon debacle, pushing the digital future into the mainstream with a lack of details on pricing or ownership, bullying game devs with lawsuits and being crap when it comes to the rom community and those trying to achieve game preservation themselves where Nintendo doesn't want to, or will in a stupid way that costs too much and the results are half-assed, fumbling the FGC side of Smash and once again using legal action to resolve take-downs on fan led tournaments and meet-ups, subpar online services for years, lack of flexible users options for managing games and saves requiring a paid fee for basic features their competitors offer for free, reluctance until now to embrace modern gaming trends, price to performance concerns, premium prices for outdated tech, expensive accessories and controllers, limited sales on old games from years ago, unfriendly tactics against people posting Nintendo game footage online for Let's Plays and Youtube videos once again sorting to legal action when unnecessary. My first console was a Nintendo, not SNES, just the OG Nintendo home console, I loved it, and I've had every console since, all the handhelds, I love Nintendo, but also, frakk Nintendo. Since the Switch I've been side-eyeing them hard for tons of dumb crap they pull, and get away with, things other devs or companies would get absolutely drug for, but it's Nintendo and everybody loves Mario and Zelda. Plenty of people have gotten tired of modern Nintendo's shenanigans, it's nothing new, Switch 2 seems to be the tipping point for some folks, myself included.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
TG Remix replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
It's more specifically the Dancing Skulls escorting the VF-5000 to the Algenicus itself so further testing could be done without a anti-UN group taking the opportunity to "acquire" it for itself. I'm assuming after unit 2 I think New Edwards had enough of Isamu testing and galivanting away with their delicate machines and probably was one of the people directly involved in his "promotion," lol. Nothing official at least, although going through Mission 4 was quite a treat going through the absurdness of it all. The research on the biological weapon project took place in New Asia, where it's said to hold ruins of a Protoculture-era civilization, apparently they seem to be spread out throughout the planet, so much so that the project's facilities not only took the shape of these ruins, but they were even camouflaged as sphinxes. Why Protoculture ruins look a lot closer to ancient Egypt ruins in a planet called New Asia of all things I'm not sure, but there's a place called New Alabama in a place called Neo York, so who am I to judge. There was very little military involvement with the project except for the periodic investigation reports, but of course this backfired when a biohazard outbreak wiped out the entire staff. Considering there's ancient ruins tied to this and Protoculture revered the Vajra, I can see someone like Frontier novelization and 30's author Ukyō Kodachi connecting the two together for continuities sake. Although they don't look all that much the same, the Vajra are giant monster bugs with folding capabilities and cannons attached to them, while the New Asia biological weapons are more giant flies that had the scale tool used on them. -

We like what we like, and I won't judge anyone for disliking something I like or vice versa and I hope that courtesy will be extended not only to me, but the fandom at large. MPG Prime appeals to me, especially the robot mode. Those feet could have used a bit more engineering to reduce their visual impact on the truck mode, and it would have helped the truck, too, had the smaller faux tanks on the legs been covered by the large truck tanks. Seeing both hanging out there looks odd. Regardless, I'm not planning on getting it, so I officially have no dog in the race. Think of it what you will in peace. I'd also be happy to see other series get MP toys, specifically Animated and Prime. Ultimately, however, I'd rather have updates at the mainline CHUG scale or legends scale (b/c I'm out of room) focused on the original design aesthetic without G1 hybridization. Moreover, I feel like third party is doing a better job on the whole with TF toys than Takara/Hasbro, and I think that mostly comes down to the restrictions and budgets that the official toys are made under whereas third parties can operate much more loosely. I think the quality in the toys shows what a bigger budget can accomplish, not to mention showcases the talents of many of these companies to rival or surpass Takara at their own game. But yeah, once G1 is exhausted, I'd love to see Magic Square or Newage take a crack at Animated.- 17043 replies

I‘m not surprised that the costs for game prices are going up. They have been around the $60 range for years (or even decades). And they have been getting cheaper instead of more expensive (if I remember correctly I paid roughly $75 in the EU for Majora‘s Mask when it was released in 2000). For some reason, despite inflation and exploding development costs, publishers decided to stick to the $60 price tag while developers tried to implement new schemes to offset the rising costs with micro transactions, additional service fees, day 1 DLC and life service games. Personally I would rather pay higher prices than dealing with those hidden fee schemes. But now that these fees are a accepted reality we will get both. Higher prices and additional fees. Yay Nintendo is probably also anticipating tariffs in the US which is why the prices are so high. If the tariffs don’t materialize, they will just cash in the offset as revenue. A win win situation.

Yeah, the pictures of all the new generation missing their dad’s with the exception of OJ was pretty hilarious. I kind of think there might be something to this ridiculous movie. I haven’t seen an over the top goofball comedy in a few years and maybe this one will be fun. Might be a good laugh, or an absolute train wreck, but I’m curious so far

Oh man ... My super cheap mini compressor died today. RIP, my dear super cheap chinese device... It worked for 2 years maybe? The fun part is, it didn't die because the compressor itself broke. It broke because the single action airbrush that came with it failed. The air seal failed and the airbrush color oozed from the color container into the compressor, breaking the whole thing. I tried to take it apart, because hey, maybe I can fix it by cleaning it, but everything in there is just glued onto each other. So no luck with that. It'll do one last trip now ... to the trash can. I'll see if I can salvage anything useful from the single action air brush. If not, it will have the same fate. Good I still have my professional airbrush compressor, but this small thingy here was really convenient. Maybe I'll get a new one.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Graham replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
With all this discussion about Macross M3, I'd like to ask is there any new information on the giant insectoid biological weapons that appear in the game? After Macross Frontier was released, I've always wondered if the insectoid biological weapons in M3 were in anyway related to or developed from the Vajra. -

Hey; I just wanted to follow up and see how that worked out for your Miria 639 figure. How is that doing?

That's how I lost my 1/48 VF-1S Roy; the thing pretty much crumbled to bits on me, even after keeping it out of direct light. On mine, it was the back piece where the tail attached, and then the upper arms. I never was able to afford to replace it (ended up crippled after buying it), and still cannot afford a replacement even some time after this happened. 😭

Really don't care for this version of MP Prime. As previously mentioned, he looks like a new version of MP-10, and we've already had that flavor. What bothers me more is the overall aesthetic of this one: it feels off to me, and not in a "not G1-toy" version or "not cartoon" version type of way. To be frank: I'm tired of the "toon aesthetic" myself. It may sound stupid, but in a modification of the G1 "toy" version, I've actually been wondering about a back of the box art series where we have the very Japanese looking Optimus with the dark windshields, silver hands and such. Starscream, Megatron and all of them in that original piece look somewhat different, and rather unearthly with how their eyes are depicted and such. Anyways, that's just me I suppose. But this newest iteration ("MPG") isn't doing it for me. I also think other series could use some time in the spotlight. I love G1 and all, but fans of the other series really deserve an MP line for their faves.- 17043 replies

I haven't either, just recalling what I read. Thing is, they didn't copy Yamato's sound booster, they just popped out another production of the original HM version, so the Yamato bracket design wouldn't work. They just skipped a step by never making Fire Valk-specific shoulder panels.
