Probably the best A-stance I can pull off with this little figā. . . . especially since I lost one of the battroid feet and need to use the Gerwalk foot as a stand-in š¬:

This dvd set has been sitting next to my desk the past year, I picked it up shortly after Thom Christopher (Hawk) passed last December and just started watching an episode here and there (watched 21 so far) which kinda makes this hit harder ... many fond memories watching his adventures with my brother.

Taking it seriously made it far my goofy IMO, it's still the same absurdity, but they tried to make it edgy, realistic and cool in the same setting with the same characters, it made me laugh as much as the Van Damme film. I will never not laugh at Ryu staring down a giant villain then they start shooting off fire and lightning, you just can't escape the stupidity and over the top nature of the source. It's cool, and a fun movie, but goofy as hell. Attempting to adapt the source material seriously won't just make audiences take the absurdity of this franchise more seriously, it's just another avenue that leads to the franchise being goofy and over the top, trying to take it seriously is cringe. I think that the only decent balance was the YouTube Legacy and Assassin's First series, even then, it still fell into the trappings of trying to take an absurd series seriously. It looked real, they took the source more seriously and attempted to ground the characters, setting and fighting, but it was still dudes fighting and shooting multi colored fire balls at each other. Better to just lean into the chaos.- 55 replies

Good deal. Maybe I'll be able to get one as I was away from my computer during the first round. And as much as I am a die hard Anime Export fan because of their stellar service, that current price is just a bit out of reach in Tariffs are included.

My thoughts and best wishes going to you and the Mrs, @pengbuzz. Not much I can do but offer my support from a distance. And send a little something to hopefully give you something to occupy your time while she recovers and hopefully comes home very soon. Thom

I don't actually connect with GL itself as I never watched the anime, but when I first saw the toys it strongly reminded me of character Bishamon in Capcom's Darkstalker fighting game. The demon torso thing is kinda cool, and I bet Capcom used GL as the inspiration for it.

It's so far been one, and the first, trailer. Let's give it another one before crapping on it.

UPDATE: Checking in- had to rush my wife to the hospital last Thursday via 911/ ambulance; she has AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) and COVID; the latter is especially dangerous, as Chemo patients are very susceptible to infections due to the number they do on the immune system. Currently, she's in ICU while they try to knock down the COVID and address the AFib; to that end, I needed to isolate from her to protect her from anything else (have seen her a couple of times in full gown, gloves and gear). It's delayed her next Chemo treatment, as they cannot give it to her while she has an active infection. So basically, just sitting at home with nothing to do aside from call her when she's up to talking on the phone. Not expecting her out before Christmas... and the house feels utterly empty. Nothing for models; no materials or kits available to me (no good hobby places nearby within walking distance). Priorities are food, medicine and transportation (buses to/ from medical center). Thinking about masking taping the cat, but painting the critter would be hard as they probably won't like the tape. (I find this puzzling). Stay tuned...

RIP Captain Rogers; may you finally find your way home. (salute)
