This guy has more life than, well… than Kakizaki. Is the Britai Softbi figure scheduled for release again? Will it make it out before the 30th Anniversary has gone? What’s with the new bent pipe? Stop teasing me Mr. K! Yamato… how hard is it to get one vinyl figure out? I want answers! No not from you Mr. Proctologist! Sit back down!

Shogakukan, Inc. and the site “eBookJapan” e-book sales has announced a digital rerelease of the classic “MACROSS ☆ THE MOVIE ☆” book, otherwise known to fans as “The Gold Book”. The 400+ page movie memorabilia was originally released in 1984 for 8000円 by Shogakukan and reprinted in 1992 for 8800円/9800円. At one time, this book was rated by Macrossworld as “very difficult” to obtain and was valued between $150 – $250. I got my first copy for $200+ then later I bought another copy for around $130 complete with poster and film strip.
The digital download will be available for 4725円 for a very limited time on August 31, 2012 to October 31, 2012 at THIS site.
VF-4G Price Announced @ 26,985¥
26,985¥ roughly translates to $340 at the time this article is being posted. Pre-Orders will begin on August 20, 2012 in Japan only.
The Official Website for the upcoming Macross FB 7 has just opened.
It contains little in the way of new information at this point but keep an eye on it for future updates!
One thing that IS known now however is that it hits cinemas in Japan on October 20 with ticket presales starting August 10!
UPDATE: Yahoo news lists FB7 as being a 90 minute feature (thanks to antibiotictab for the additional info!). Confirmed characters include:

Characters from Macross 7 have yet to be confirmed.
The feature will be directed by Tetsuro Amino. Valkyrie designs are credited to Shoji Kawamori.
UPDATE 2: Story from Anime News Network.

UPDATE: Story from Anime News Network.

OK, so I’m sure you know the “DYRL” by now!
Episode 5 of “Macross Super Dimension Seminar” aired on Monday night and it featured the second part of “Do You Remember Love”.
It ends with Sheryl once more advertising the newly-released Limited Edition set, but as far as I know it’s sold out everywhere now? Hmm…
Interestingly, one of the scenes they cut from the movie for this broadcast (remember they have to split the whole 115-minute film into two half-hour broadcasts) was the actual ending — they literally fade to black just as Hikaru’s VF-1S is taking aim at Bodolzaa.
Next week’s episodes are “Romanesque” and “Yasashisa Sayonara”.

30th Anniversary News 07/27
Sorry to disrupt the flow of Wonder Festival kit news, but yet more 30th Anniversary news has just been announced!
(1) BOMBAAAA!! Macross FB7
For those who missed it, Renato discovered some information on the previously reported Ozma Meets Fire Bomber project in the DYRL BD boxset – Macross FB7 is coming to cinemas across Japan this Fall, meaning its more than likely a new one-shot OVA. Will we get to see a young Ozma back in his Fire Bomber fan years? Or an aging Basara, returned from his wanderings to see what Mylene looks like now that she’s legal? More news as it becomes available!
(2) My my, what a big Valkyrie you have!
The Official Shop of the Tokyo Anime Center will be getting a facelift from August 6 when it covers its windows with a giant VF-1J decal . The store has long been a focal point for Macross related merchandise, having been temporarily transformed into an official Macross Shop back in 2010, and still has large Sheryl and Ranka decals on its windows to this day despite not having that much in the way of merchandise anymore.
(3) Macross: The MUSICULTURE – key visual unveiled!
The official website for Macross: The MUSICULTURE has unveiled the first key visual for the upcoming musical which features many of the characters whose actors/actresses were announced 2 weeks ago. For some reason it looks like a young Rock Howard from Mark of the Wolves made it in there…..
(4)Commemorative Train Tickets
Seibu Railway has commissioned set of 4 commemorative train tickets as well as a special booklet. These will go on sale on August 10 and will coincide with Augusts Macross Original Pictures Exhibit. Sets will be priced at 1000yen each and will be limited (3000 sets made in total).
Yesterday (Japan time), July 26th, 2012 finally saw the highly-anticipated release of “Macross: Do You Remember Love”, remastered in HD with a new 5.1 sound mix on Blu-Ray.
Got it? Getting it? Pleased? Displeased?
I’ll save summarizing all the controversy, the praise and the grief, surrounding this release and simply direct you to the relevant threads:
General DYRL Blu-ray thread here
DYRL: Good & the Bad thread here
Yeah, I know, they’re pretty much the same.
Being a “Hytbrid Pack”, the release also contains a PS3 game, “My Boyfriend is a Pilot 2012”, the thread for which can be found HERE.
PROTOCULCHAAARGH!!
The fourth “lesson” in the Super Dimension Seminar series aired on Monday night, and this time we were treated to episodes 26, “Messenger”, and 27, “Ai wa Nagareru”, from the original SDF Macross TV series.
“Messenger” was summarized into not much more than 5 minutes, while the remainder of the program was made up of “Ai wa Nagareru” with only minimal edits.
Next week — Part two of “Do You Remember Love”!
