With the final (that we know of) 30th Anniversary events drawing to a close, we decided to try something special this episode by renting/recording in the special Firebomber-themed karaoke room at Ikebukuro Joysound.

As such, the sound is little different than usual, but hey, what better ambience for a Macross podcast than rooms full of people singing Firebomber and Frontier songs in the background while we discuss our impressions of The MUSICALTURE, the FB7 movie, Firebomber live in concert, the VF-4G, Macross 30, and the fateful day when Renato, Gubaba, Yoshiki Fukuyama and a bag full of Orgus VHS tapes collided….literally!

Also, this episode features another Macross Voxpop, as well as the debut of MW poster Antibiotictab!

WARNING – Part 1 includes spoilers for Evangelion Q (3.0). And yes, we forgot to tell the ‘Lego story.’

1:1 VF-25 Valkyrie Exhibit in Osaka

Forum regular and translator extraordinaire Sketchley has posted a report from the 1:1-VF-25 that is currently on display in Osaka (Dec. 22 to Jan. 14), along with some great pictures of new additions to the exhibit since its Tokyo debut last year, including shots of the YF-30 from the upcoming PS3 game Macross 30!

At Yamato’s annual open showroom back on Dec. 2, Save and I got a step-by-step walkthrough of how to transform the VF-4G, courtesy of some on-site staff.
Thanks to Save’s photoshop skills (editting done in the middle of a podcast recording, no less), kick-ass camera, and my..er…fingers, we have been able to put together the following photographic walkthrough on how to transform the VF-4G. Save has also included a few more miscellaneous pics of Yamato’s latest as well.

MACROSS 30 – New Trailer & Gameplay Details

Announced back in September at Tokyo game Show 2012, Macross 30: The Voice that Connects the Galaxy is seemingly the dream-team game on HD consoles that Macross fans have been waiting for. Featuring characters from all Macross series to date, as well as new ones, and a new Valkyrie designed by Shoji Kawamori himself, each new screenshot of the game looks better and better.

But what is the game actually about? And how is it that so many characters – both dead and alive – are going to make an appearance?

Macross Chronicle Revised Edition to be Released!

Magazine publisher DeAgostini has announced that the revised edition of the Macross Chronicle, which was published on a trial-basis in Hiroshima for 10 issues earlier this year, will be officially released weekly starting January 15, 2013.

This edition will be expanded from 50 issues to 80 – an entire 30 issues of new content!

Volume 1 will be released at a special low price of 290yen, with subsequent issues priced at 690yen each.

Readers that purchase all 80 issues will receive a special commemorative pin set.

Yamato’s annual open showroom event was held today and, apart from the usual bargains and cabinets full of valks, the big draw this year was something rather special – the first hands-on session with the final version of the toy.

‘Macross 30th Anniversary – First Attack!’ Ichiban Kuji Figures Revealed

As previously scooped by forum user BlackAce, Banpresto will be releasing another batch of Ichiban Kuji figures next March as part of Macross’ 30th Anniversary (surely this has to mark the end of the 30th? Just how long does this Anniversary go for anyway???).

This time the figures will be based on the super-deformed versions of the franchises rockers and divas. Some initial sculpts were on display at the Firebomber 2012 concert (Tokyo gig only) and while the lineup was disappointingly lacking in Veffidas figures, some of the new additions stood out more than others….

New Mikimoto & Ebata Character Art

As part of the ongoing (although dwindling to a close) 30th Anniversary, Haruhiko Mikimoto and Risa Ebata have drawn a set of 5 character portraits for the Macross Official Fan Club.

Titled ‘Oshare Macross – Red Carper Ver., the designs are based on the theme of A ‘Celebrity party to celebrate Macross’ 30th Anniversary’. The 5 new pieces of art (3 by Mikimoto, 2 by Ebata) feature Minmay, Basara, Mylene, Sheryl and Ranka all dressed up for a night out on the town.
