April Fool’s Joke – Kawamori cites HBO series as inspiration for new Macross show

It’s well known that Kawamori is a huge Games Of Thrones fan but we didn’t realize how much until it was revealed at an interview that the new show announced last week was going to be highly inspired by the George R R Martin’s book and series. The new show will incorporate not only one love triangle but a complicated number of love connection between humans and aliens across the universe. The mecha designer/director/series creator also stated that there will be a many protagonist, idols and villains that may or may not make it to the series end.

Kawamori went on to talk about his other projects like the upcoming M3 series and and the currently running Nubunaga The Fool. Pursued to comment further on the new Macross project Kawamori explained:

Macross Frontier: 1/72 VF-25G Messiah by Hasegawa

Hasegawa is releasing Michael’s 2 seater VF-25G including the speaker pods in 1/72 scale. This is the follow up to their first Macross Frontier VF-25F/S kit. Bandai has released Michael’s VF-25G before but it was the 3 mode transformable version that was a single seater. This 2 seater (or if you prefer one seat) includes a Ranka figure sitting behind the pilot just like in the”Seikan Hikou” sequence of Episode 12 in the series.

This item is an injection-plastic kit of a science-fiction/anime item.

Hasegawa’s upgraded VF-25G Messiah from “Macross Frontier” looks fantastic! Michael Blanc’s machine can be assembled with landing gear up or down, and the cockpit can be assembled with one or two seats. A seated pilot figure and a seated figure of Ranka Lee are included. Molded in blue and gray with clear parts.

The YF-29 sure is getting it’s share of repaints. After the original Alto scheme came the Focker Anniversary, the Isamu colors and now Bandai is going to release Ozma’s scheme from the Wings of Goodbye Hybrid Pack and other games. I do think that Ozma always gets the coolest colors. This is set for release May 2014 for 17000円. For sale in Japan only.

Hasegawa 1:72 VF-25F/S Messiah Released

A year ago we posted that Hasegawa was going to release a kit of the VF-25 from Macross Frontier even though it was thought that Bandai had a death grip on the license. This week, the 1/72 scale model was finally released in Japan. Hopefully, the very talented roster of master model builders from our forums will start posting their build ups soon. Meanwhile here’s the box art and some more images after the jump!

DECULTURE! MWCon’s First Art Show

In our efforts to expand the experience at this year’s Macross World Convention, we decided to add on an art show that would allow well known artists in the pop culture circuit to interpret the Macross Universe in their own unique style. This show featured some amazingly talented artists, who include Heejin Park, Maria Vitan, Cole Lemke, Mary J. Hoffman, Tou Vue, Sho Murase, Danny Doublin, as well as a few familiar names, Jerome Lu, Chito “KWESTONE” Arellano and Tracy Tubera.

Though many of the pieces sold at the show we do have a few left that is now available for those that couldn’t make it to the convention. Check out these artist’s pages and if you’re interested in any of the artwork, please email art.macrossworld@gmail.com to make a purchase. Each piece does come framed and ready-to-hang. Please be aware that prices do not include shipping.
