Bandai Macross Frontier toys thread

Actually it was me that was trying to share my views and it was you that try to discount it by saying that we're all whiners and Bandai doesn't warrant critism. Then you go on about how you have better uderstanding of toys than anyone else as if we've never seen or invested money on them before. Then you called me a dick... haha... fail on all sides there.

Oi, this is now getting monotonous… <_<

My apologies dear "moderator" sir… and if you look over there, there’s a huge ‘Whatever’ sign lifting towards your direction.

bandai does good work but they've never tackled a macross toy of this complexity nor dealt with its never quite satisfied fans. yamato has been in the macross game longer and i still wait for the reviews before purchasing their releases, so i don't see the point of blindly buying something from a company when its their 1st time around.

i wish bandai the best of luck but i'll wait for the reviews before plunking down my hard earned cash.

Catching up reading here and would like to bring a contra to this statement here:

... And if you compare to recent toys, Eureka 7 and even Code Geass toys weren't handled well enough despite being popular franchises.

I can only hope the VF-25 will be around SOC quality. I won't settle for less.

I can't really say for Eureka, but I think you are doing Bandai injustice with the Code Geass merchandise.

They are selling a wide variety of stuff, catering to different demographics.

You have "In Action offshoot" for smaller budgets (aka Kids), than you have the "Mechanic Collection" addressing the modellers and "Mechanic Complete Model" (like HCM) for the higher end collectors. Considering the only competition out there comes from Mega Houses "Palm Action" stuff, Bandai could of just done one line and call it a day - but they didn't!

So just because Bandai screwed up with Macross doesn't mean they screw up with every other franchise out there.

But call me nuts, I'm actually more exited about the 1/100 line. Why?

Because I'm secretly hoping we finally get some M7 VF-19 variants.

I'm a BIG believer in Bandai, but I think it's impossible to disagree with the 'wait and see' approach. Every company, including Bandai, has made crappy toys at one time or another. I personally think Bandai will nail it the first time, and the pix look great to me (I neither subscribe to nor fully understand the concepts of 'anime accuracy' or 'aggressive design' as they seem to be used around here, I think they're just elaborate ways of justifying personal taste, which is something that should not need justification). I've got them both preordered already. But anyone who waits til the reviews are out before buying a $100+ toy is just smart, simple as that. Hats off to ya.

I want to know what Bandai was hiding on their blog...that teaser thing were they covered up what could be a VF-19 photo....

1/100 line will be more affordable so if its perfect transformation I will pick up more of those, and for the DX's I will just pick up my favorites.

Agreed.

Bandai owns Megahouse though, don't they?

I'm going with the wait and see approach, because the 1/60 VF-25 looks chunky and has wonky proportions from what we've seen. I don't have enough faith in their design team to plunk down my money without having seen anything. Just as I don't have enough faith in Yamato's first runs to put down money (though they have improved in my eyes).

I want a VF-19 Blazer Valkyrie from M7.

Forget yet more -19's, let's hope they use the 1/100 for more obscure stuff that there's almost no chance we'll see in 1/72 or 1/60. Like a VF-11MAXL Kai. Valks with boobs! ;)

Yes! I too want a release of Kawamori's ultimate valkyrie design.

When they make a VF-19S targeted towards collectors, I will be satisfied. With that said, VF-3000 FTW.

I don't care for the redesign of the VF-19S over the original YF-19 and VF-19A (which the same as the YF with a new color). It isn't bad though, I just like the original wings more. I'd also like to see a VF-22. As much as the YF-21 is cool, I was always more partial to the VF-22.

Yes, the VF-3000 is in my top five list!!!

Nobody seems to care about it, or did you mean VF-5000 :(

I'd love a YF-19 and either a YF-21 or VF-22 in 1/100 scale! I could actually probably afford one then!

Woah, that's one hell of a wonky VF-19. The wings are HUGE, and the back is squashed, with enormous shoulders, and massive stubby legs.

I kind of doubt we'll see any new updated Macross 7 stuff from Bandai. M7 came and went. Now is the time of Frontier.

More Macross Frontier stuff:

GA Graphic posted a brief report giving minor details about the new Bandai robot line: Robot Damashii (Robot Spirits). This new line will feature 12 cm ABS/PVC figures with POM joints. The lineup will include mecha from Gundam 00's second season, Macross F, Code Geass, and Eureka Seven.

So can this be considered the "1/100" line or is this something entirely different?
