Yeah so another large toy from bandai and yamato is out, we all expect it, but the little revoltechs are impressive enough to make front page too I think. I think it'd be sad if on the day a chogokin VF-25 gets released MW has the latest Yammy 1/60 VF-1 on its home page. Then again, I guess Bandai and Yamato aren't really in direct competition so maybe Yamato wouldn't be too upset if MW had a Bandai toy on its home page. I doubt niether one of them would care. Legally they can't support us. Plus Graham doesn't work for Yamato, so if a review for the DX VF-25 is front paged, it wouldn't really matter. Wow, the VF-25 is much smaller than I had thought, but that's not a bad thing. It's easier to collect smaller figures. I think they are handling the 1/72 models that Bandai has announced. The VF-25 in 3 modes sans armor was the 1/72 prototype. The only glimpse we had of the 1/60 was the one with FAST packs in fighter mode only. Yamato's a sponsor of MW (look up and to the right), they just can't advertise Macross products in their ads here. Graham may not work for Yamato but he certainly has a symbiotic relationship with them. They give him inside scoops and he gives them free advertising for products they're not really allowed to discuss outside of Japan. I really doubt they'd care enough to try to silence any Bandai fever though since they aren't really in direct competition. Bandai has so far announced three (3) distinct product lines for Macross Frontier: - 1/60 scale DX transforming VF-25 Alto and Ozuma toys. 1/100 scale action figures with simple transformation. 1/72 scale plastic model kits. Beyond that, little else is known so far. And yes, I will definitely be reviewing the Bandai products when they come out and will feature them on the front page. Im curious about what extras the 1/60 VF-25 will come with. I take it the Alto version will come with regular FP's and the Ozuma one will come with armor parts. I wonder if Bandai is gonna bother with adding things such as opening canopy and retractable landing gear. If bandai f's it up and thousands of macross fans talk with their money they'll probably never touch the property for another 20 years. Question: When did yamato ever release three different sizes and types of the same thing simultaneously? We had to wait a millennia till they decided on bringing the vf-0 into 1/60 instead of 1/100... Bandai has the resources to release options... and in turn it'll only make Yamato amp up it's efforts with the competition. It's a win, win for fans in the end. I have a lot of bandai's stuff... They have screwed various other mech toys and models in the past and that has left a bad taste in people's mouth. For reference look at the Macross 7 line they produced back in the day. I respect that you feel that way and I am sure that others do too but... I personally could ask for a better company to make the Frontier toys and that is Yamato. I am not saying that I am not still very excited about these toys because I am. I am not saying that I will not get the Bandai toys because I will. I am not saying that I will not be happy with them either because I probably will be. I am saying though that I would rather see Yamato making these as I am really happy with what they have done with the transforming Macross figures they have made (for the most part) and would love to have a Yamato transforming Macross Frontier figure. (off topic, sorta) I bought the SoC Eva figs a few years back and they were really well done. Been thinking about getting one of the new Rebuild figs...much improved articulation, and the armor comes off revealing the Eva's true form. (on topic) SoC is their premier collector's line, and I hope they bring all their experience and craftsmanship to the Frontier toys. Granted, I'd like to see Yamato's take as well, since they've proven their dedication to the Macross line. I'm happy to be proven wrong but bandai has never given a crap about macross and they haven't brought their A game to the table in.. uhm.. EVER, seeing as how their 1 fanboy favorite wasn't even their own design. And honestly, the idea of a die cast valk isn't making me feel that great either. They're two different toy lines. Another toy in the Chogokin line you might know about is the Aquarion toy. There was never any doubt in my mind that Bandai could produce a better VF-1. They just never did. With the market getting saturated a couple years back, I wasn't surprised. Now they have an opportunity to do good. Some of us wondered what it would be like if Bandai made a new valk and made it appealing to collectors, unlike the kiddified Macross 7 line. This is finally happening. Some of us wondered how another company other than Yamato would take on valk toys. This is finally happening. If Yamato ends up making a VF-25 years later then we will have a variety of VF-25s to choose from. Its been 14 years since the airing of Macross Plus and just now we are getting a 1/60 YF-21. All of us have waited that long and yet we are still excited. Its not like anything will change. Experience has shown us that we are willing to wait years for a Yamato toy. Hell we still are. jenius Posted March 1, 2008 Share Posted March 1, 2008 Shouldn't we all be praising Bandai for helping us get more Macross (shows) instead of complaining that they never gave us good enough toys? I mean, I'm a huge toy guy but it's the show that's most important. Beyond that, I know several people will now swear I love Bandai just like they do with Toynami, but I'm not going to write them off just because I haven't been thrilled with their old toys (since their DYRL releases).
