Lonely Soldier Boy Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Great! Can't wait to see the result. What you have so far looks pretty pro. I hope this will help Yamato to make their minds up on the Dobber scheme.
David Hingtgen Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 This might help--it's the F-14 scheme Dobber based his on (which was itself based on Ukranian Flanker camo):

Ghostkiller Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Wow!! Very cool Ghostkiller!! I appreciate the tribute, let me know If I can help you with anything. Chris thks dobber closer shots of your camo would be great indeed if you don't mind of course it is such a nightmare to custom in a perfect way this toy I know I am crazy I am used to 1/32 scale on jet aircraft but it is kind of hard to work on a toy hey first time anyway But I will do my best with it Hey Yamato let me show you that this could be done on the sv-51
David Hingtgen Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I knew it was somewhere---dozens of pics of the actual F-14: http://aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/001...t2/walk070b.htm

Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Great start!!! Kudos for starting such a project
Dante74 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Very brave of you Ghostkiller, to try a custom job on such an expensive toy. Can't wait to see it finished! Yamato, please take notes.
Ghostkiller Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 ok I had some time to paint after work so he is my progress on the front part have been masking a lot with dobber inspiration hope you like it !!!!
charger69 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 OMG!! Cooooollllllll I think you are doing darn gooddddd
David Hingtgen Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 What type/brand of paint are you using? And what are you using to mask with--just normal masking tape?
Ghostkiller Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 What type/brand of paint are you using? And what are you using to mask with--just normal masking tape? I do not have the chance to have an airbrush so I use tamiya AS airspray series "for aircraft" and tamiya masking tape
Dobber Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) Looks Real good Ghostkiller!!! Also note that I used 3 different blues plus the overall grey. My colors where overall Light Ghost Grey, then a light blue....unfortunately I can't remember what type, then US navy blue grey, then the darkest was Intermediate blue. My colors where Testors though. Chris Edited November 13, 2007 by Dobber
eugimon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 wow, looking great! I'm amazed at how clean it looks for no airbrush!

I used Light blue / Intermediate Blue "us navy" and I will probably use as grey a Light Ghost Grey or a Light Grey USAF and thinking of using Navy Blue but that one is quite dark will see how it goes those colors are great and the helped me finishing the 1:32 su-27 flanker below
eugimon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 holy crap. I can't wait to see the "dobber" sv-51 now. That flanker looks AMAZING... just unbelievably clean.
charger69 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) Ghostkiller, I'm sure you're gonna give the right treatment to the SV-51 Dobber!!! Edited November 13, 2007 by charger69
promethuem5 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 That looks really really god so far... keep it up!
Wicked Ace Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I can't wait to see this project completed. After you've finished this one, you won't want to see a roll of masking tape for a long while. I speak from experience. And, after all my masking, I still didn't really get the effect I wanted; I like Dobber's choice of colors better than what I went with.
Mowe Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Looking nice!! When it is finished, it will be the envy of many MWers.
Ghostkiller Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 sorry did not have time to post more but here we go I still have a lot to do on it !! so much work on it is required
odr78 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Allez Ghost... Fait nous un super SV-51.... Yes ... The French touch for the SV-51.. Well done...
